The skull of Sanzo Hoshi has been kept in separate locations✨. It is located on a small hill a little away from Jion-ji Temple, the 12th temple of the Bando Thirty-Three Kannon Sacred Site. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the summer, so be careful. During the war, when the land was being cleared to build an Inari shrine in Nanjing, a sarcophagus was found. When I looked into it, I found out that it was the skull of Master Sanzang, who was buried during the Song Dynasty. It seems that the tomb was located in Chang'an, and was reburied after seeing its pathetic condition due to tomb theft, and its whereabouts are unknown ever since. It was temporarily enshrined at Shiba Zojo-ji Temple, and then evacuated to Saitama as the war situation worsened. It is said that he was later returned to China, paid in installments, and buried here near Ci'en Temple, which took its name from the Great Ci'en Temple in Chang'an. It is said that it was also distributed to Yakushiji Temple in Nara. It's an amazing story✨.

After visiting the place where the world's greatest villain, Yuge Dokyo, died, I learned that he was descended from Sanzo Hoshi, and that Sanzo Hoshi's bones had traveled to Japan to be buried. I heard that the place was in Iwatsuki, Saitama City, so I decided to pay a visit. He was sleeping quietly in a field where the rice planting had finished.

The remains of the famous monk Xuanzang Sanzang from Journey to the West are enshrined here. The 13-story pagoda, approximately 15 meters in height, was built in 1950. About 5 minutes walk from Jionji Temple. There is a parking space.

It took about 10 minutes to walk from Jion-ji Temple, but we paid a visit to the Pagoda, where Sanzo Hoshi's ashes were separated and rested.

A Karamon gate suddenly appears in the countryside spreading out to the northwest of Toyoharu Station. When you look at it, you will see that it is a pagoda of the spirit bones of Sanzo Sanzo, also known as Sanzo Hoshi. It's a very strange space. It seems like the neighbors are cleaning it, so it's very clean. At its peak, Jionji Temple had a vast area of land, and it is said that it is part of it, but it is very strange why Sanzangboshi's spirit remains here.

[Historic] A spirit bone pagoda located in the precincts of Jionji Temple (it says, but it takes about 20 minutes to walk...). This tower houses the spirit bones of Sanzang Hoshi (Xuanzang Sanzang Hoshi), who is familiar to Japanese people from Journey to the West. Its origins date back to 1942, when a spirit bone (skull) discovered outside Nanjing's Zhonghua Gate was split up and sent to Japan. The skull that went to Japan was initially enshrined at Shiba Zojoji Temple, but as Tokyo suffered widespread damage from air raids during World War II, it was temporarily moved to Sangakuin in Warabi City, Saitama Prefecture, and was further enshrined in Sanzo Temple. They were evacuated to Jion-ji Temple, which was named after Dai Jion-ji Temple, which was built by the monk. After World War II, when the Japanese Buddhist community considered a place for the official enshrinement, Jionji Temple, which had deep ties to Sanzo Hoshi, was chosen as the best place to enshrine the enshrinement. Xuanzang Tower was built. 【thoughts】 Journey to the West is well known even to us Japanese people. Of course, what was shown on TV was a made-up story, but the Sanzo monk who served as the model for it was a real person. Little did they know that the bones of such a person were found near their home... It is a 20 minute walk from Jionji Temple (7 to 8 minutes by car). The grounds are neatly arranged, and the gate at the entrance gives off an exotic feel. There is no parking lot nearby, but there is a space to park your car at the entrance of the site.

It is said that the remains of Sanzang Hoshi, famous as Son Goku, were discovered in Nanjing, China, and a portion of his bones was donated to Japan and buried here.

In Iwatsuki, Saitama City There is Jionji Genjoto (Iwatsuki Ward), where Sanzo Hoshi is buried. I attended a party to eat pizza baked in an authentic stone oven at an old folk house next door. The main character of "Journey to the West" is Sanzangboshi. Is the grave of the monk from that manga nearby? Eating freshly baked pizza around the hearth with a sense of wonder. Everyone was passionate about Ai Iwatsuki and had strong personalities. In this atmosphere, I was able to eat many different types of pizza and it was absolutely delicious. Iwatsuki is home to many tourist attractions, and every time I've been there, I've had memorable events. This is a historic and fortunate facility where the spiritual bones of Sanzo Hoshi were distributed from China and placed in this pagoda.

A hidden spot. A place where you can relax during the cherry blossom season in early April and the fresh green season. There are festivals depending on the season, such as the Xuanzang Festival. The most recommended view is the peaceful view from behind the tower. The cherry blossom season was very beautiful.
