Very beautiful and interesting items. Too bad the signage and other information in English was disatisfactory. The signs were either completely in Italian or all the information wasn’t translated. Also there should be more information putting the exhibited items in context. Maybe that was only written in Italian though? You shouldn’t have to do your own research before going to a museum to understand it. That is the job of the museum and here I think they fail. Also hard to get to by walking. There should be a footpath from the Valley of Temples to the museum.

beware of the eight euro rip off when this museum is really worth only three €uros as it is charged only when purchased as a combined ticket with the valley of the temples - the combined ticket option should be the only option mandatory since the two obviously go together and at every other historic site the museum is combined with the archaeological park outside. furthermore if you mistakenly purchased one and not the other, then they are unable to exchange to combined the ticket but instead charge you five extra euros as a result. finally the museum is substandard when compared to that of the same archaeological park museums in marsala & in selinute. In short it would be best to skip agrigento all together as a dusty old tourist trap that can be better seen from outside the gates on the roadways surrounding the valley of the temples; and instead head straight to segesta - which is the only site that combines the most complete temple in sicily plus an odeon amphitheater that still functions - all at a third of the price of what you pay in agrigento's valley of the temples or taormina greek theatre. for segesta - the best place to stay is in san vito lo capo or castellammare del golfo and visit riserva naturale dello zingaro - that packs a more powerful punch than anything you're find on the south coast of sicily

Disorganized and overpriced. Unfortunately, this museum feels more like a Greek art warehouse than a museum. It's obvious that the collection it holds is impressive. Some of the vases are absolutely breathtaking. But visiting it is a tiring experience: no one has bothered to think that not all the pieces in such al large collection can be exhibited as if they all had the same relevance. The mere chronological order without any map or diagram to help understand in a little bit easier way the origin of the displayed pieces makes the visit tedious. This place is a great proof that not only an excellent collection is necessary to make an enjoyable museum. You need the aim to tell in an orderly and understandable way why the pieces that it holds are remarkable. This museum lacks that and it's a shame. The place is old and could use some renovations. The vase collection is amazing, but I'm not sure the place is totally worth it, as the ticket is quite expensive (and they even intend to charge you extra if you want a map of the archaeological site!)

So many artifacts! Nice thing to do after the main attraction (Temples), I thought it's good value for the extra 3.50€. There was a giant group of teenagers with a guide who completely surrounded me and took a lot of space, which was awkward, and it was confusing how to get out of the museum (my advice: just go back to the entrance). What is completely strange to me is that there is no marked / direct path between the Valley of temples entrances / parking lots and the museum. The first path I tried back to the parking lot from the museum I got chased down by aggressive dogs, the second was a proper road but the gate was only open so visitors from tour buses can enter there (to my knowledge) => result: a guard stopped me thinking I tried to enter without paying. Getting TO the museum from the Temples I followed a marked path, and after 25 min walking in the heat with no shade arrived near the museum but all the gates were closed; a lady met me to ask what i was doing there; according to her i was trespassing 🤦‍♂️ but she let me out nicely and actually tried to help. You'd think if they sell a combined ticket it would be easy to access and find? No, no and no. But yeah once you find it there's a lot of things to see inside this museum. Probably they have millions of artifacts. I would suggest you only buy the combined ticket with the museum if you think that you and your party have the energy to walk 11 kilometers in total, because this is what it took me. And that's with my "illegal" shortcuts. It's an easy walk, but after 3 hours (time it took me with audio guide and taking some pictures) visiting the 12+ sites in the Valley of Temples, I've read reviews where people were too tired or couldn't find the museum. You'll see it on Google Maps but it is absolutely not signed anywhere until you're right in front of it. To be fair when I bought the combined ticket the staff did warn me it was a kilometer away (except you have to take a road around the park so it's more like 1.5 km but anyway...) If you're traveling on foot / by bus, the museum is actually the closest to the city.

Schön modernes und Sehenswertes Museum im Tal der Tempel mit vielen alten Ausgrabungsstücken. Einfach zu erreichen, es gibt direkt einen Parkplatz daneben für den man allerdings eine Gebühr zahlen muss.

For March 14, 2022, around 1:30 pm and following. Again with the employees talking loudly all the time in a museum. Just like spoiled children or something. Shut up already. How am I supposed to enjoy my visit? At the snack bar out back, there was a young man who came to speak to/harass(?) the young woman working there. Extremely rude he was. He kept talking loudly while I was trying to order my food. Did not stop at all. This happened once when I was first ordering, then again when I came in for the desserts, and a third time when I came in to pay. Ridiculous.

Good museum. 2023 05 they were operating short staffed and coin collection was closed. Nice cool space after getting baked in the Valley of the Temples.

Great collection. The large detailed vases from 6th century BC are amazing. Big displays showing variations on certain common objects was interesting. Worth the little extra on the ticket for the Valley

Very impressive display of Greek and Bronze Age artefacts. Helps understand the visit to The Valley temples much better. The premises were a bit warm as the aircon didn’t seem to be very effective (heatwave week though). The main room with the Telamon is VERY impressive. The bar is modern and with excellent produce served by two very kind ladies.

The Archaeological Museum Piero Griffo contains Greek pottery and relics collected locally. It has in its central hall a giant statute if a man that would of decorated on of temples which would have been dedicated to Zeus.

Mandatory visit before or after seeing Valley of the Temples. This museum deserves way, way more praise than it gets… it feels unreal to see so closely some of its artifacts. Zeus Room is breathtaking, a small yet overwhelming glimpse into the past of the largest greek temple to have existed.

Very unsafe parking for rentals in the museum parking, a dodgy person posed as park assistant and asked for money, one would feel seriously unsafe for the car if he wouldn't pay up. Museum staff knows about it going on, said there is nothing they can do, really ruins the museum experience for you, clearly museum staff don't care, I suggest people only use taxis to access the museum to feel safe.

It is a wonderful museum full of archeological finds from the Valley of the Temples nearby. A grand collection of antique vases, vessels, figurines, sarcophagi, and more. The entrance is free on the first Sunday of the month.

Amazing collection, especially the vases and giant temple statue. Provides great context for the nearby valley of the temples. Was free on Sunday when we went.

The Museum was great - getting there was a challenge - our tickets to the Valley of the Temples included the museum but the access was closed and we had to walk on the road (not very safe) for a while. Suggest taking a car directly there. Once we got there it was beautiful and stopped at the small cafe for a glass of wine and snacks before we hiked back to the car. They were so kind and gave us a pizza complementary. Plan about 30-40 minutes. Spend longer to enjoy the grounds.

Fantastic museum. Well laid out and beautifully presented. So many fascinating artifacts. If you love Greek/Roman history you will love this museum. I could have stayed all day !

Large museum, featuring the archeological discoveries made in Agrigento (so lots of Greek history). This museum is located about 20 minutes on foot from Valle dei templi and is worth a visit. A reduced ticket costs €4 and a full ticket costs €8. There is lots of information provided, contextualising the displays. The signs are written in both Italian and English. There are also places to sit for children and less mobile visitors.

The collection includes amazing pieces and there's free bathrooms (once you've paid for your ticket). The parking lot is badly marked though, and the information about the items in the collection is not terribly thorough. The items deserve a bit better.

Beautiful artifacts but lacking some detail. Setting couldn't be more beautiful though.

Some seriously cool stuff in here, including pottery, coins, helmets, sarcophagi and an unexpectedly massive part of the temple of Zeus. Just steer clear of the sprinklings of modern art!

Best to dive if you can however it's about 30 minutes walk from the town centre. Lots of ancient pottery and coins to see. Cost around 20 Euro for three of us so not too bad. You can also buy tickets there for the valley of the temples. Cafe outside with light refreshments.

Well worth incorporating the museum into any visit to the Valle Dei Templi as it has stacks of ancient artefacts and a scale cork model of the Temple Of Zeus.

One of the best archeology museums I've visited. The collection of amphorae is superb, the description (always with English text) of the objects done with just the right information and suitable for the general public. Worth the two hours spent there.
