The best thing of the staying was the staff and service without a doubt. Bansi was very attentive, caring and fast. It made the difference in our experience for sure. It is an old building, and it definitely gives an old-fashioned vibe. However, like any other old building, if you are looking for privacy, you will hardly get it. The floor cracked like anything and you could hear people speak through the walls. Our room was the Heritage Deluxe with the private terrace. We chose it, not only for the amenities and terrace, but thinking it would be the most private room. Nothing could be further from the truth. The door is made of glass and guests used to confuse our room with theirs as both the rooms were quite near. So thinking no one would come in, we had 2 guests trying to come in at night. If you wish more privacy go for the private balcony room, not terrace. Over all the experience was okay. Visually the place looks beautiful. Walking through the streets of the old town towards the Haveli is a charm. But practically... This place really depends on what you are looking for and who you are travelling with. Need to admit that the price is on the higher side. Bansi would manage everything on his own as well as cooking. He really deserves to be acknowledged. He prepared tasty meals, specially the breakfast was super complete and healthy. You should know that we still remember you. 🌟

It was really great place to must visit in old ahmedabad city. I went to photowalk here by instagram here and they made here really nice wall paintings here any LXS ngo did that by the way and good architectural view too. They did vertical gardening here too which is really good idea to make city look better and also for hood environmental views of city. You can visit this place and more around to see heritage buildings of ahmedabad.

Feedback on French Haveli: 1. Dustbin missing in the room (was given after requesting). 2. Please provide sealed drinking water bottles in the room. RO jug was given but we don’t like the taste of local water. washroom was so far away with long steep stairway that we were too tired to go back and forth so drank very less water :( 3. Basic toiletries missing in the washroom. Only hand wash and towels available. 4. Hot water kettle in the room missing. 5. Washroom was told to be right outside the room (we saw a room like that so maybe the room was not allocated to us or some confusion there) but our actual room was passing through the living area and reception which made me uncomfortable as a woman, especially in the middle of the night. Total inconvenience. The listing page says this room comes with private washroom + study. Try to avoid booking this room especially if you are a female as the washroom passes through the reception + kitchen/ living and can make you uncomfortable during midnight. 6. Minor but our room couldn’t lock from inside. However the living area has cctv cameras so we were fine to sleep. No cupboard locks either btw. Thankfully we had no valuables. 7. Since the room is a steep stairway away from the washroom, after a point we got really tired of going back and forth after a long day of touring the city. For the price of 3412 INR, I think the experience was underwhelming and I would avoid taking this room again. Always book a room with inside washroom. Come with the mindset of a Homestay, not a hotel which is where our expectations were misaligned. Positives: - Bansi bhaiya was helpful in making the stay pleasant. - The property is authentic and has been aesthetically designed. - Good breakfast.

Very good place to stay. Will feel in good to stay in place like this. But location is very worst, we want roam and found out. If this is prime location it will excellent. Interior, maintenance and cleanliness were excellent. Room maintained well but size of the rooms were small. But seperate rooms for seating, reading was neat. Reception was very good and ambience also was good. If you were booking this for stay discuss with hotel person to understand the way to reach hotel. Only he can able to help you.

Note that the location on Google Maps is not the actual location of the premises! You need to walk 100m up Dhal Ni Pol and off a side street. Map to the Sri Tara Kanchan Jain Aaradhana Bhava temple and that’s where the hotel actually is located.

The French Haveli’ is an 150 year old, artistically restored Gujarati heritage home. It is a thrill of drama and colours and homeliness. Maintaining its splendid traditional structure, the ‘Haveli’ offers a unique experience of living in the historic community called the ‘Pol’. Living in this house is to experience the Gujarati culture with comfort and luxury. The central court is open to view the sky, which gets in optimum air and light. This is generally the soul of all Havelis. The Jhula (traditionally a swing) is a place to relax and feel the calming effects of the home-like Haveli. Staying in this house, you will experience privacy and yet be part of the central community space that this French Haveli overlooks upon. The community space has a Chabutra (the bird feeder), a 100 yrs old Jain temple. Each room at the French Haveli has its own individual charisma and can ultimately be the best choice for you or your group depending upon your needs. All rooms are air-conditioned. The ‘French Haveli’ is a Bed and Breakfast. We serve you a freshly cooked breakfast. The vegetables and ingredients are purchased from the nearby markets in the Historic City Centre, “Manek Chowk”. Walking towards the French Haveli from the main street is a remarkable transition from the traffic filled urban landscape to the very serene and historic area. You may be reminded of the proceedings of daily lives back in the ancient times as you pass through the clusters of rows of houses joined by labyrinthine streets to open again into sub lanes are called ‘Khadki’, and squares called ‘Chowks’. It was our family vacation and we wanted to experience a stay at the old "Pol" in Ahmedabad. My wife found a heritage stay at French Haveli and from the pics we could understand that it was exactly the place we were looking for. On the day we arrived we found that the place was exactly like the pictures. It is an old bunglow very well maintained and kept in a1 condition by Mr. Bansi who is the care taker of the property. Our stay was very comfortable and enjoyable. Mr. Bansi was very helpful. He cooked some amazing food for us. Also, he arranged transport for us when we got stuck far away from French Haveli in rains. All in all it was a great experience and we would recommend it to all those people who want to experience the old heritage living in Ahmedabad. Special thanks to Mr. Bansi who was a great host and amazing person.

What a welcoming and warm place to stay right in the heart of Ahmedabad city! The Haveli is antique and quaint in demeanor. Absolutely beautiful decor, scrumptious meals and an amiable host, Bansi ji, who offered help in every possible way. If you are looking for a homely stay, this is your abode! 😁

Lovely place. Had a great stay when I visited in December 2021. Bansi the caretaker is extremely helpful. the access to the place, is a bit tricky, but the caretaker helped with getting the luggage to the property. I got an upgrade to a higher room as it was available. The room was very comfortable. A sumptuous breakfast was served. Highly recommended.

I saw it from outside and It's very disappointing experience. The surrounding area is filthy and people are not coperative. Google too doesn't provide accurate location. There's Jaina temple nearby, which too was closed. They say it opens at 18.30.

Very nice place to stay in Ahmedabad. The small lanes to get to the Proprty, the way they have been maintained and everything else is an experience not to miss. I recommend everyone to stay here at least once.

Definitely offers an 'experience', but when tackiness is passed off as 'heritage' and 'quaint' then that's not acceptable.

A Homely Royal stay at 150 years old, Artistically Restored Ethnic Gujrati Haveli... As like other places, we opt this Haveli for our 3 days stay in Amdavad during our very recent Gujarat trip.. Its really a charming n loving feel to stay here,,once you get in here,,it can be felt like ouw home like ambiance..Its a thrill of drama n color n homeliness together..with warm greetings n smiling ever service of Banshi... The Best Part is the ethnic n unique decoration..at Ground floor..at Dining and of course at the room we opt..Agaashi..the Room have own terrace and we love to have a chit-chat there after long full days of tiring Sightseeings n Photografy.. The Room is equipped with fantastically ethnic traditional Gujrati Decor that suites a 150 years old Haveli..the stay like a time machine journey for us..as it is like we r staying in different era from the noise of modern city.. The staffs are very helpful to guide n assist us from Dhal ni pol to Haveli..Making hot n fresh Dinner..The breakfast was awesomely yummy.. The Rooms really give us some great feelings that we love to be back here again next time when we r in Amdavad..

I and my mom stayed there for 3 nights. We found it overpriced. We have paid 500rs for Khichdi and class for 2 people. Not many options for breakfast. Unsatisfied.

Don't book Chabutro room if you seek privacy- Has no attached washroom I was travelling with a friend and had booked the room Chabutro for a night, and left without staying. The bathroom of the room, is far apart from the room- You basically have to use the toilet/bathroom attached to the reception rather than the room. Was not at all comfortable with it and the property didn't have any other vacant room that day. The hotel owner denied giving any refund. Had to book another place nearby rather than feeling uncomfortable
