Not very well maintained by govt, but good heritage. But architects, travellers, engineers can come and see the beautiful heritage. It's in small crowded street, better come by walk than in vehicles and roam around in this place. Raja no hajiro Rani no hajiro opposite to each other which are aligned to jama masjid.

The Rani no Hajiro are the tombs and mausoleums of the queens of the kings of the Muzaffarid Dynasty of Gujarat. The mausoleum is raised above ground and is a square building with and open courtyard where the tombs are held. The lower level is largely hidden from view thanks to the shops and stalls surrounding the building. These also cover large sections of the upper section, which is a great pity because once you climb up to the upper levels, the mausoleum is a beautiful building. It’s built in the wonderful Gujarati style with lattice works and highly elaborate columns of superb craftsmanship, especially the colonnade surrounding the courtyard. Despite being a protected site, the condition of the building is poor, but still good enough to make it worthwhile visiting.

I went to this place on 12 Feburary 2023 it is also known as Mughalai Bibi's Tomb or Tombs of Ahmed Shah's Queens The enclosure is high above the ground entered by a lofty gateway and the courtyard surrounded by a trellised cloister. The walls of cloister are fitted with carved stone screens. The square open enclosure of 36.58 meters side is probably built in 1445. The courtyard contains eight marble tombs of queens of Ahmed Shah I and other Gujarat Sultanate rulers. They are elaborately carved and inlaid with work of mother-of-pearl and metal. The principal tomb belongs to Mughalai Bibi, the wife of Muhammad Shah II and mother of Mahmud Begada. It is richly carved in white marble, and girt with a Persian inscription in minute relief. An adjacent tomb in black marble, once inlaid with mother-of-pearl, belongs to Mirki or Murki Bibi, the wife of Shah e Alam, the sister of queen and the daughter of Jam of Sindh. These tombs are covered with rich brocade works, the textile style developed during reign of Ahmed Shah I. The intricate stone tracery and carving is an amalgamation of Hindu, Jain, and Islamic architectural styles. Some Muslim families live inside complex which take care of the tombs

🌼 ABOUT RANI NO HAJIRO Rani no Hajiro was built in the 15 century by the great sultan Ahmed Shah. The hajiro is a vault for graves and served as the last resting place for queens of this empire. Subsequent rulers of the area also continued this tradition. 🌼 HISTORY OF RANI NO HAJIRO Walls surrounding these graves from the outside are magnificently carved out of stones. The burial place is in the centre and demarcated by a cloister (veranda). The art of Brocade, which is as old as the history of Gujarat itself, was introduced in the reign of Ahmed Shah. This beautifully hand woven Zari cloth was used to cover the graves of the queens. It is believed that the uncharacteristic construction of an open air design of the courtyard was built according to the desire of Ahmad Shah’s queen. It was unusual because before her request, the design was a large dome covering the grave and enclosed into an ambulatory. The main tomb here belongs to Mughalai Bibi, wife of Muhammad Shah II and mother of Mahmud Begada. 🌼 ARCHITECTURE OF RANI NO HAJIRO A great example of the mix of Hindu, Jain and Islamic culture, Rani no Hajiro showcases intricate design and carving work on the walls and domes. The burial place or the inner area is kept locked to maintain tranquillity and cleanliness of the place. The place is maintained by a family of caretakers, who have been doing this for almost five generations now. They ensure that it remains untainted and pure. 🌸 Address | Gandhi Rd, Manek Chowk, Khadia, Ahmedabad 🌸 Timings | 10 am to 6 pm 🌸 Entry | Free 🌸 Parking | Since it's located in the main market with narrow bylanes, it's best you take auto rickshaw or public transport 🌸 What Could Be Improved | - The local society surrounding this historic place needs to take good care of upkeep and maintain good hygienic conditions. - It's such a put off when you come to see a magnificent place of importance and the local community is not maintaining the space around decently. #SanchitaSairangKshatriya #mausoleum #ahmedabad #incredibleindia

This is very good place for shopping for jwellery as there are so many shops are available and many known jewellers are there. And yes most of the shops are closed on festive days and weekend so if you are planning to visit please make sure it is open for that day or not. Food and drinks are there like there is very famous shop here Girish colddrink infront of manish jwellers and next to bahucharaji mandir ( pictures are available in review) where different kind of lassi available, i tried makhanvala lassi , it was so good so yummy 😋🤤. I visited today ,as it is Saturday and 15th January so it was not crowded as it used to be daily. So just take care and Wear your 😷 mask

Its located in the old city and in a very crowded locality. The point from where the cab drops you to the monument is a small local market selling oxidised jewellry. The main door was locked denying access to the inside . The monument is not well maintained and looked like an old tattered house .

I would again reiterate my stand- Google should remove star rating for religious /historical places. Because you can not rate and compare them, it's different than hotel, food items, shops, restaurant. Rani no Hajiro is located in old Ahmedabad, It is known as Mughalai Bibi's Tomb or Tombs of Ahmed Shah's Queens, in simple words it's a tomb complex. I must say architecture is really good, with fine pillars and craving on walls and windows and even pillars. But unfortunately this place is not preserved properly, it's in very poor condition few people have encroached inside and outside of complex, kids playing cricket inside, people sleeping at entrance, How will tourist come to such places ??? no attention and proper information displayed by ASI despite the site is around 500 years old. It's shocking. We need to preserve our history we can't change it. Even if we don't like it. Must visit for all. If more tourists come may be ASI will pay more attention, Best way is to charge 25 Rs as a entry ticket.

Rani no Hajiro The clamorous, cobbled road at Fernandez Bridge leads to the Jumma Masjid and the adjacent tombs of Sultan Ahmed Shah I, who founded Ahmedabad in 1411, and his descendants. It comes as no surprise to find that Rani no Hajiro, the hallowed burial site of royal ladies, now contains the city’s hotspot for trendy teens — Fashion Street. Rani no Hajiro was built in the 15 century by the great sultan Ahmed Shah. The hajiro is a vault for graves and served as the last resting place for queens of this empire. Subsequent rulers of the area also continued this tradition. Walls surrounding these graves from the outside are magnificently carved out of stones. This heritage structure is a bit hidden, during the daytime you'll find street vendors selling exquisite artificial jewelry for really cheap. Also, there are ethnic wear garment stores and handicraft shops. The main structure's door is usually locked, and local's need to be contacted to get a glimpse of the graves on the inside. The carvings on this structure amidst a 'pol' settlement are really beautiful and intricate. A variety of 'Mukhwaas' (mouth freshners) are sold at the entrance lane to Rani No Hajiro.

I would like to inform u about the current situation of both this structure, and the abutting Baadshah no Hajiro. Both are nice monuments but I believe that the heritage department + the people residing in the area should take some good care of the structures as it is surrounded by waste and litter nowadays. The significance of these monuments is as important as other sites in Ahmedabad. I hope we, as a community, can do something about the deteriorating state of our heritage which, I believe, is rapidly declining.

Rani no Hajiro is located near Manek Chowk on east of the Ahmed Shah's Tomb. The enclosure is high above the ground entered by a lofty gateway and the courtyard surrounded by a trellised cloister.
