Contemporary
Hilla
Antiques:
This
museum,
which
was
established
in
the
center
of
the
city
of
Hilla,
was
called
the
“Contemporary
Hilla
Museum”
to
collect
archaeological
artifacts
bearing
the
scent
of
the
ancient
Babylonian
civilization
and
the
ancient
heritage
of
Hilla.
To
be
a
cultural
witness
that
includes
the
cultural,
intellectual
and
scientific
history
of
Hilla.
The
museum
includes
eight
huge
halls
containing
an
exhibition
of
photographs
of
Hillah
scholars,
ancient
markets,
and
the
most
important
historical
monuments,
as
well
as
wax
statues
of
Hillah
figures
and
symbols,
and
an
exhibition
of
the
most
important
ancient
books
and
its
thinkers.
Hillah
was
and
still
is
one
of
the
most
important
cities
and
centers
of
enlightenment
in
various
fields
and
has
left
its
mark
on
Through
its
writers,
scholars,
and
innovators,
the
idea
of
establishing
the
museum
dates
back
to
the
year
2006
AD,
by
the
Cultural
Revival
and
Modernization
Authority
to
preserve
the
city’s
memory
and
heritage,
which
extends
for
more
than
900
years.
The
museum
took
advantage
of
an
old
building
dating
back
to
1920
AD,
which
was
opened
in
1935
AD,
as
a
building
for
the
Mutasarfiyyah.
This
building
witnessed
the
most
important
meetings
during
the
royal
era
and
the
beginning
of
the
July
Revolution,
and
today
it
witnesses
the
largest
museum
in
the
Middle
Euphrates
region.
It
was
opened
on
3/16/2014
AD,
and
was
rehabilitated
as
a
first
stage.
There
are
other
stages,
including
the
rehabilitation
of
the
neighboring
buildings
and
the
front
garden,
so
that
Hilla
becomes
an
integrated
cultural
center.
Cultural
events
are
held
there,
noting
that
citizens
donated
about
(300)
archaeological
artifacts
and
(500)
books
chronicling
the
city
of
Hilla.
