The
building
of
the
Babylonian
theater
is
one
of
the
distinctive
buildings,
whose
foundations
remained
steadfast
in
the
face
of
geographical
changes,
soil
erosion,
and
groundwater,
which
threatened
almost
all
of
Babylon’s
antiquities.
Despite
the
destruction
of
the
building’s
external
structure,
the
General
Antiquities
Directorate
excavated
those
foundations,
that
is,
the
ground
map.
Then
the
building
was
completed
with
modern
bricks
on
top
of
the
original
plan,
and
upon
studying
the
building,
its
parts,
and
the
foundations,
it
became
clear
that
the
building
is
unique
in
comparison
to
the
buildings
of
the
ancient
world
throughout
Iraq,
as
well
as
in
other
places
that
witnessed
similar
buildings,
in
Jordan
and
in
North
Africa.
Such
as
the
(Labada)
Theater
and
the
(Sabratha)
Theater,
which
were
built
by
the
Romans
in
Libya.
In
addition,
the
problem
of
proving
the
true
structure
of
the
Babylonian
theater
building
arose,
as
there
is
no
historical
document
that
attributes
the
building
to
an
entity
or
a
person.
To
confront
this
problem,
the
researcher
reviewed
the
historical
documents
that
It
is
possible
to
point
this
out,
in
addition
to
making
an
architectural
and
sociological
comparison
of
the
Babylonian
theater
building,
with
Greek
and
Roman
theaters
that
were
known
and
built
in
periods
coinciding
with
the
construction
of
the
Babylonian
theatre,
to
find
out
the
differences
and
similarities
between
them.
The
researcher
adopted
the
comparative
and
descriptive
approach
in
the
analysis,
based
on
historical
documents,
in
order
to
reach
logical
conclusions
that
dispel
those
doubts
and
solve
the
problem
of
the
topic.
The
most
important
finding
of
the
researcher
is
that
the
Babylonian
theater
building
existed
before
the
entry
of
Alexander
the
Great
into
the
city
of
Babylon,
in
addition
to
the
uniqueness
and
privacy
of
this
building,
and
the
lack
of
complete
similarity
between
it
and
the
Greek
and
Roman
theater
buildings.
