My kids really enjoyed the journey to the castle. The kids really liked it and it was like a piece of puzzle that the kids really loved when entering and exiting from different doors down stairs and upstairs. The view at the top of it is just spectacular. As a family I would absolutely recommend visiting the archeological site and enjoy the history

Splendid site to visit. In the 12th century, the Crusaders constructed the castle with the indigenous limestone and the remains of Roman structures resulting in Roman, Persian, Crusader and Phoenician influences. Beautiful panoramic view of surrounding area and Byblos city from the top of the castle. Took about 1.5 hours to walk the site.

Nice walk, and the view is amazing. There are flowers everywhere. It's just so full of history and color. Wish there were a bit more explanations on the way.

Byblos is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. Approximately 45 km from Beirut. Beautiful city! unmissable. Worth a visit and return if you are in Beirut. Taxi around 15 euros. (Around 2/3 hours to visit the whole city).

Pay a small fee to enter the archaeological site of Byblos. First, check the Castle built by the crusaders in the 12th century. From the top, you'll see a breathtaking view of Byblos and the Mediterranean sea! Then, walk in the surrounding field where you'll find Phoenicians, Egyptian and Roman ruins! Finally, discover Byblos most iconic and photographed house!

The castle is a marvellous piece of history that is sitting in the heart of Byblos. Parking in a nearby parking lot for a small fee and a short walk and you are at the entrance, 3 types of tickets for Lebanese residents, non residents and foreigners. Inside the castle and the grounds around it that you can explore with a good walk exploring many parts of it. Few parts are locked up and you cannot access them but the rest is enough to go around exploring it’s beauty. The grounds require continuous improvement and development of such a historic and touristic attraction, which is lacking currently or falling behind.

The castle was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century from indigenous limestone and the remains of Roman structures. It's an amazing piece of history, and if you plan to visit make sure you ask of the guide Yazid he knows the history very well.

The Citadel was build in the crusaders after they invaded the city in 1104, but there are other ruins that dates back centuries before BC. The view is breathtaking especially the sea.

The entire grounds of Byblos are stupendous. A must see for anybody even remotely interested in history. The Crusader fortifications are okay but it’s the grounds around it that are really amazing. Check out the royal tomb shafts as well. And see the museum in Beirut that has the finds from the tombs. Gold jewellery etc

The old byblos citadel is located adjacent to byblos old souq, facing the Mediterranean coast... a huge area of several historical buildings and ruins from several ages and eras... Inside the citadel itself, there is a small museum presenting the history of the place and some historical artifacts from the location and others lebanese locations..

An impressive site where layers of history tell about past occupants and show the traces of 17 civilisation. A must visit, better with a guide that you can find at entrance door. All languages available.

An historic place but the facilities are meagre, not enough parking place, mismanaged traffic on narrow roads and great emphasis on souvenir selling rather than for public comfort and convenience.

The Byblos Citadel is truly a marvel of ancient architecture and a must-see for anyone visiting the historic town of Byblos in Lebanon. The citadel's imposing walls and towers stand as a testament to the ingenuity and skill of the people who built it thousands of years ago. As you explore the citadel, you'll be transported back in time and immersed in the rich history of the area. The view from the top of the citadel is breathtaking and provides a stunning panorama of the surrounding landscape. The site is well-preserved and the restoration work that has been done is both impressive and respectful of the site's historical significance. Overall, the Byblos Citadel is a wonderful example of the ancient world's architectural genius and a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history, culture, and breathtaking views.

I really enjoyed our visit here. We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. I recommend visiting if you love historical landmarks. There is a small amphitheatre and a few standing columns. The view from the castle is beautiful but would say be careful climbing up and down the stairs the health and safety needs some touch ups.

Well, the main point, is that I do not feel the citadel to be marvelous in what it has to present. For a little bit of history, the castle was built in 12th century by the crusaders.

🔵The city of Byblos🔵 ⚫The coastal town of Byblos is located north of Beirut, Lebanon. ⚫Because Byblos was the chief harbour for the export of cedar and other valuable wood to Egypt, it soon became a great trading centre. ⚫The ruins today consist of the Crusader fortifications and gate; a Roman colonnade and small theatre; Phoenician ramparts, three major temples, Medieval and Ottoman town, Byzantine churches, and a necropolis; and remains of Neolithic dwellings. ⚫It was continuously inhabited since Neolithic times, Byblos bears outstanding witness to the beginnings of the Phoenician civilization. ⚫Byblos is also directly associated with the history and diffusion of the Phoenician alphabet. ⚫Byblos was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984. Como nos explican que esta ciudad es construida por los romanos? teniendo increíbles piezas megalíticas traídas de Asuan al Sur de Egipto mas de 1500km cortadas a la perfección con pesos mayores a 50 toneladas.
