هو أحد المساجد الأثريّة الشهيرة بالقاهرة. يوصف بأنه درة العمارة الإسلامية بالشرق، ويعد أكثر آثار القاهرة الإسلامية تناسقاً وانسجاماً، ويمثل مرحلة نضوج العمارة المملوكية. أنشأه السلطان الناصر حسن بن الناصر محمد بن قلاوون خلال الفترة من 757هـ/1356م إلى 764هـ/1363م خلال حقبة حكم المماليك البحرية لمصر. يتكون البناء من مسجد ومدرسة للمذاهب الأربعة (الشافعية والحنفية والمالكية والحنابلة)، وكان يْدَرَّس بها أيضاً علوم تفسير القرآن، الحديث النبوي، القراءات السبع، بالإضافة إلى مُكتِّبين لتحفيظ الأيتام القرآن وتعليمهم الخط. ـــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــــ ويقع المسجد حالياً بميدان صلاح الدين (ميدان الرميلة) بحي الخليفة التابع للمنطقة الجنوبية بالقاهرة، وبجواره عدة مساجد أثرية تتمثل في مسجد الرفاعي، مسجد المحمودية، مسجد قاني باي الرماح، مسجد جوهر اللالا، بالإضافة إلى مسجد محمد علي، ومسجد الناصر قلاوون بقلعة صلاح الدين، ومتحف مصطفى كامل

This is a must see on any tour of old Islamic Cairo. The mosque itself is a gem of a place to visit. If you can ask your tour guide to see if he can arrange a reading of the prayers inside sultan Hassan burial room. The acoustics are amazing to listen to the prayers.

Amazing peaceful place it is almost time stops when you sit there ,so serene there , as historical mosque it is extremely jaw dropping, it is just unbelievable that this structure built since 700 years

There are 4 separate room for praying area. Divided from 4 madzhab. There is another and newer masjid (Rifai mosque) beside this masjid

After visiting the mosque for like nearly ten times through the past four years, I can say it is at the top three three mosques in Egypt as If you are ever searching for inner peace, this is for sure the place to visit and it is absolutely for free, you can feel the greatness at every inch of the mosque and praying in Ramadan is just another level It is for sure a must visit place while visiting Egypt

Majestic structure with picturesque design, built across it Rifa'i mosque also with magnificent depiction. But last time i visited it, was too crowded with bulk amounts of human, a bit difficult to perform prayer properly. But overall, such a pleasurable moments been there.
