I came here last summer vacation with my family, Egypt is home to the world's top tombs and pyramids, beautiful, majestic and ancient is my description for it. Please buy tickets online in advance, otherwise you will have to wait a long time.

Inside this complex are 3 pyramids with the Black Pyramid said to be the first ever pyramid built. You can buy tickets at the complex entrance. The red pyramid is the largest of the three, and you can enter inside it free of charge. If you decide to go inside it, beware that it is tight, involves many stairs, involves moving downwards; and maybe walking backwards. When you arrive at the main chamber down, the oxygen levels decrease. There is ample parking and a restroom. Restroom was OK. Do not expect any kiosks that sell water or snacks.

Was absolutely stunning. We went in June so the temperature was 45 degrees Celsius; the heat wants absolutely insane. So please make sure you bring lots of water and make sure you check the temperature. Inside was quite a lovely experience, very well kept and lots of chambers to visit. Make sure you’re in good shape and don’t have a bad back or knees. Otherwise I wouldn’t recommend going too far inside as it is a lot of crouching at times and can be straining. My legs were sore the next day. But it was definitely worth the visit and I would recommend you check it out if you have the chance.

One of the Best experiences you could have in Egypt and virtually tourist free . It's quite a small entry and claustrophobic going down into the depths of the pyramid. But for the experience its worth it .There isn't much to see at the base but just knowing your inside something built thousands of years ago . Especially knowing all the other discoveries found near by .

One of the first Pyramids that I visited in Egypt. It is also one of the oldest. You can also go inside the pyramid with the same ticket. Had a really great experience. However, the Pyramid is not as tall as the other Pyramids in the Giza especially the Great Pyramid. Therefore, I recommend you to spend less time and focus more time on the main Pyramids if you visit this first.

The road of getting to the pyramid is a little bumpy, that's partly why most tourists go to Giza instead here. But the ticket price is much cheaper here, with entrance into the pyramids included! The air inside the pyramid is a little musty. Technically the pyramid is not red, but we were told it will appear red during sunset.

Well we were unbelievably luck to visit this historic place. Lucky because we were there with our guide and no one else. Because the guide had been to the Pyramid many time she said we could go up and in by ourselves. So after we passed one attendant we were inside along walking into the very heart of this extraordinary place. It was hot but to get to the inner chamber was just special. And the history briefly goes like this - The Red Pyramid is the third-largest pyramid in Egypt, known for its distinctive red limestone construction. The pyramid was built during the reign of Pharaoh Sneferu, the founder of the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt, around 2600 BC. Its name comes from the reddish hue of the limestone blocks used in its construction. The Red Pyramid is significant because it represents a key development in the evolution of pyramid construction in ancient Egypt.

It is very hard to reach out the place even with google maps. You have to go by car, no other options. The ticket is 10 le for Egyptians. You can go inside the pyramid but it needs high level of fitness 😂 cause you go up some tough stairs and then you go down into the pyramid. It closes at 4 pm. The site was not crowded at all which is nice.

The bent and red pyramid are really nice. For only 100 EGP (09/23) you can visit the site and enter both pyramids which is really worth it. I would recommend hiring a driver from Cairo (we had a driver who took us first to both pyramids and later to Gizeh pyramids and back to the hotel for 40 Euro) as the two pyramids are quite far from one another. The car ticket costs 10 EGP.

(Translated by Google) How do you make an adventure in the narrowest and deepest Pharaonic catacombs, for 70 EGP First, you will board the metro from any location and download the ticket from 3-10J, depending on the distance You will install from Mounib Dahshur 7-10J You will take a tuktuk to the edge of the Dahshur antiquities area, B5C We will cut off an entry ticket with 10 c Make your account that you are inside an open area like a nature reserve. I mean, you will walk a lot, so take it with you (a lot of food + little food + energy + cozy comfortable for walking) and in the bathrooms there is a maid that does not worry There is a paved road, I mean, you will not go in the desert. You will walk with the road. The first thing you will meet is the red pyramid, and you don’t need to change its name because its stones are red This pyramid is the first pyramid in history, made in a proper hierarchical form, not like the Meidum pyramid, which is composed of terraces on top of each other This is considered the third highest pyramid in Egypt after Khufu and Khafre You will look on an industrial ladder to the end of the entrance hole to the basement, which you enter into the pyramid, the basement is 60 cm high and 80 meters deep, and why go down not on ladders. You go down on a wood plank while you are crouching. On a second basement up, a very large square room will enter you, but its roof is hierarchical, and with this it remains in the text of the pyramid exactly. Then you look at a small cellar and look up a ladder 80 meters up, and you will have reached the burial room in which the king’s ark is, of course you will not find a coffin because it is in the museum, but you will find the room People who have a phobia in closed spaces and you did not fear your grandfathers, they used to do their calculations and you will find yourself normal and the temperature is very moderate in summer or winter and with lighting everywhere Of course, the basements and rooms look as if you were in a foreign film from the Indiana Jones films, awe, fear, pride, miracles, and many feelings in the heart of some of them. After you look out from the red pyramid, you will walk to a kilogram of the end of the curved pyramid, and this is the most important thing in the whole journey. The pyramid was 45 degrees, so it appeared in a square shape with a dome from above, so they called it the curve pyramid And its importance is due because it was an experiment so that they know how to build a pyramid correctly. Nevertheless, the pyramid is legendary, although it was an experiment in a strange awe in its atmosphere and entering its basements is very difficult and I want to champion his muscles strong You feel that you have entered the world of the jinn, a strange world that you have never seen When you first reach the entrance to the pyramid by meeting a basement descending below about 100 meters and a height of 60 cm, the same basement in the red pyramid, but it is longer and narrower, often you will roll while you are descending 🤣🤣 The problem is that after you go down, you look at a second basement, narrower than the first, but it will be easier to descend. Then you will find yourself in a strange, blocked cellar with a left opening and an opening to the right This Yemen is called Al-Fatihah Al-Gharbia looking at a very smooth basement at an angle of 65 degrees and in a rope you look at. This is what I want to take a mountain climber and he is not afraid and his heart is dead because the basement is dark as a solution to the extent of its text after the sun turns As for what remains if you enter the north, then you will look on a normal ladder to the edge of the king’s burial room, and you will not be surprised if you meet people who are crossed and a base that plays yoga. Of course, the basements are all well-ventilated and lit. It is strange, but these pyramids do not have all the entrances to basements Fazai made the rooms, how did they enter the giant coffins, and how did they make the natural ventilation, and how did they keep the temperature? After you finish your adventures in the basements of the curved pyramid while you are out, you can look over the pyramid on your right hand. But if you go down from the curved pyramid and turn around and see it, you will find a small pyramid like this one that has a pyramid of Manqara, and you can download it. This is pure normal. This pyramid is almost unknown. You will come back again from the curved pyramid to the red pyramid. You will find strong, clean bathrooms. I rinse and take a bath if you like too. Normal prices, but you and your ability or you and your taste You will leave what is left from the Dahshur area, stop a tuk tuk and say it is Yodik, the King’s Lake B5C Lake King This is one of the strangest places that you can see in your life. The lake in summer is dry and it is a forest, and in winter it is millions of water and you go down to float in it How do you know it? Megalithic build, huge construction, enormous precision stones in the inner chambers. Acoustic constructions, Helmholz resonator. Trapezium ceilings are designed to control echo and reverberation. A must to see it!

This is my absolute favourite of all the pyramids as there was nobody else here at this site. I had the entire pyramid to myself with not one other tourist! The climb down into the pyramid is not for the weak or elderly for sure. If you’re overweight and unfit - might not he a pleasant experience! Top tip - get there early and revel in the feeling of being the only living soul in the heart of a 4,500 year old iconic structure. It appears that most tourists just go to see the Giza pyramids and ignore the Dahshur pyramids - massive mistake!! I’ve been here twice and both times - not a single other person was there.

The Red Pyramid is the only one we went inside, but it was worth it. However, it is hot inside and we were advised not to talk too much so as not to use up more oxygen. If you have mobility or claustrophobia issues, entering a pyramid is probably not for you. You climb in through a fairly small tunnel - this is the only way in and out, so it's 2-way traffic. You climb up about 90 metres to the entry, then you descend, backwards, down a wooden ramp/stairs, while bent in half. It's not difficult, unless you have mobility or flexibility issues, but it is hot, so be hydrated and bring water. Egyptologists believe that the pharaoh Sneferu, the father of Khufu (who built Cheops the Great Pyramid in Giza) built the Red Pyramid, the Bent Pyramid and the pyramid at Meidum/Maydum, as his architects and builders perfected the smooth-sided pyramid.

A much more less travelled destination but no less rich in history, best to come with a guide as this place is very hard to get to. Partially the reason also why it has less tourists around. Well, because of that you can get better pictures.

The Red Pyramid, also known as the Northern Pyramid, is the largest pyramid located at Dahshur in Giza in Egypt. Named for the rusty-red color of its red limestone stones, this pyramid is also the third largest Egyptian pyramid, after the pyramids of Khufu and Khafre at Giza.

One of Egypt's best kept secrets. Unlike the pyramids of Giza, this and the adjacent Step Pyramid have no vendors and no other activity around them. Just barren desert. Go into the Step Pyramid for a National Geographic experience. It is the second oldest pyramid and dates back to the time of Joseph from the Bible. In the distance, you can see the Black pyramid which Joseph would have been involved in the construction.

Only in Islam do the king and peasant stand, bow and prostrate together, side by side, proclaiming the Greatness of Allah. Allah’s timing is perfect in every matter. We don’t always understand the wisdom behind it, but we have to learn to trust it. Remember! You cannot delete your internet history from Allah.

Only 60EGP to enter. Virtually no tourists around, in fact we were the only ones there. Entering the pyramid does not cost extra and the interior is MUCH more impressive than the great pyramid. The corbelled vaulting is much higher than the pyramid of Cheops and there are more vaulted interiors. This was a far better experience than the Giza Plateau pyramids.

(Translated by Google) The slope is only 43 degrees, which makes it easier to build a curved pyramid. The structure of the Red Pyramid is relatively complete, but the pharaoh’s sarcophagus has not yet been found. Scientists believe that because there are no temples, outer walls and satellite pyramids nearby, it is estimated that the pharaoh will not be buried here. (Translated by Google) The Red Pyramid is the highest of the three main pyramids in Dahshur. Its name in red is due to the red rust layer above its stones, and it is the third largest Egyptian pyramid after the pyramids of Khufu and Khafre, which were built after that in the city of Giza. The Red Pyramid at the time of its construction was the tallest stone building in the world. And locals call it the bat pyramid (Original)

Off the radar for most visitors but should be included for all. If you want to enter a pyramid that isn’t nearly as expensive choose this one. Also, much less people, no vendors and no one forcing tour guide services upon you. The pyramid was completely empty when I visited. It was a magical experience and I am thankful for such an opportunity. Outstanding! A+

Lovely red color on the full pyramid of red limestone. The first successful true pyramid built by sneferu of the fourth dynasty, as well as the third largest pyramid in Egypt. Inside the pyramid is three rooms with tiered ceilings that go up. Less stuffy than other pyramids, but the climb probably still isn't worth it.

This is my favorite pyramid in Egypt. When I visited with my parents, we were the only 3 tourists there! A completely different experience compared to visiting the busy Giza Temples. There weren’t even any people hassling us to sell souvenirs or give “tours.” You can climb down 65m into the pyramid - FYI that it is pretty steep and you have to be bent down the whole time. You will get very hot, but how cool to climb inside a pyramid! If you have time to climb into only 1 of these pyramids, choose the Red Pyramid over the bent Pyramid because the inside is more interesting and easier to navigate.

One of the oldest of the 3 pyramids of the Old Dynasty, the Red Pyramid is the first pyramid that reached the true pyramid shape. It was built for Pharaoh Sneferu. His architects having learnt from their mistakes with the Bent Pyramid, we're able to put their experience into effect building at the 43degrees angle again. The outer white limestone coating has been removed by the elements, so now only the weathered red limestone remains, giving it a reddish look. Hence the name Red Pyramid. The best part is the lack of crowds, touts, and horse and camel rides. Most tourist groups give this a miss, so you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the desert around you and also view the Giza Pyramids in the horizon, on a clear day. The Bent Pyramid is also a majestic sight from here. The descent within the pyramid is very steep, having almost 130 steps. In many places you will need to bend low. This is not for anyone with back problems, or even mildly claustrophobic. You need to be quite fit to negotiate the steps not only inside the pyramid, but also those from the ground to the entrance. There is a strong smell, almost overwhelming, as bats used to reside inside, even though they no longer live there. Please wear light airy cotton clothes, as it is really hot and stuffy, even in winter. Carry no bags and backpacks, but be sure to carry water, you will need it.

One of the lesser visited sites on the Pyramid trail, but I can’t understand why. The Red Pyramid is awesome - the first successful straight sided Pyramid in Egypt after the earlier “Bent Pyramid”, noticeable by it’s slightly odd shape, apparently down to a miscalculation of weight/bedrock/sand base resulting in a slight curvature. Not too many tourists, no touts or camel/horse rides. Entry to the Red and Bent Pyramids is possible and well worth a look. Standing with your back to the Bent Pyramid, looking towards the Red Pyramid, on a clear day, Saqqara is clearly visible and the Great Pyramid at Giza can be made out in the distance. This site has three pyramids. First one which bears no resemblance to a pyramid at all. The second is the bent pyramid with two different rising angles. And the last one is called the Red pyramid. It was the penultimate pyramid before the construction of Giza complex. Standing 104 meters tall this pyramid has a heavenly charm to it, maybe because of the clear blue skies. Here you can see how the Egyptians learnt the art of pyramid construction through the know-how of transitioning from step-sided pyramids to smooth-sided pyramids. Unlike the Giza pyramid where entry inside the pyramid is chargeable at E£ 300, the entry inside this pyramid is included in the basic entry fare. We climbed down more than 150 steps to descend into the darkness of this burial chamber. The narrow passage keeps getting narrower by the step to make you bow to the king as you approach His Majesty King Sneferu. The view from inside is baffling. Here you see from the inside how the rocks were stacked without support of of any binding agent to build this gigantic structure.

The Red Pyramid, also called the North Pyramid, is the largest of the pyramidslocated at the Dahshur necropolis in Cairo, Egypt. Named for the rusty reddish hue of its red limestone stones, it is also the third largest Egyptian pyramid, after those of Khufuand Khafra at Giza. It is also believed to be Egypt's first successful attempt at constructing a "true" smooth-sided pyramid. Local residents refer to the Red Pyramid as el-heram el-watwaat, meaning the Bat Pyramid. The Red Pyramid was the third pyramid built by Old Kingdom Pharaoh Sneferu, and is located approximately one kilometer to the north of the Bent Pyramid. It is built at the same shallow 43 degree angle as the upper section of the Bent Pyramid, which gives it a noticeably squat appearance compared to other Egyptian pyramids of comparable scale. Construction is believed to have begun during the thirtieth year of Sneferu's reign (ca. 2590 BCE). Egyptologists disagree on the length of time it took to construct. Based on quarry marks found at various phases of construction, Rainer Stadelmann estimates the time of completion to be approximately 17 years while Rolf Krauss, based on this same graffiti, suggests a period of construction of 10-11yrs, an estimate later supported byJohn Romer. Archaeologists speculate its design may be an outcome of engineering crises experienced during the construction of Sneferu's two earlier pyramids. The first of these, thePyramid at Meidum, collapsed in antiquity, while the second, the Bent Pyramid, had the angle of its inclination dramatically altered from 54 to 43 degrees part-way through construction. Some archaeologists now believe that the Meidum pyramid was the first attempt at building a smooth-sided pyramid, and that it may have collapsed when construction of the Bent Pyramid was already well under way – and that the pyramid may by then have already begun to show alarming signs of instability itself, as evident by the presence of large timber beams supporting its inner chambers. The outcome of this was the change in inclination of the Bent Pyramid, and the commencement of the later Red Pyramid at an inclination known to be less susceptible to instability and therefore less susceptible to catastrophic collapse. The Red Pyramid is 105 metres (344 ft) high. A rare pyramidion, or capstone, for the Red Pyramid has been uncovered and reconstructed, and is now on display at Dahshur. However, whether it was actually ever used is unclear, as its angle of inclination differs from that of the pyramid for which it was apparently intended. The Red Pyramid, along with the Bent Pyramid, was closed to tourists for many years because of a nearby army camp. It is now usually open for tourists and a somewhat intrusive ventilation has been installed which pipes air down the entrance shaft to the interior chambers. Visitors climb steps cut in or built over the stones of the pyramid to an entrance high on the north side. A passage, 3 feet (0.91 m) in height and 4 feet (1.2 m) wide, slopes down at 27° for 200 feet (61 m) to a short horizontal passage leading into a chamber whose corbelled roof is 40 feet (12 m) high and rises in eleven steps. At the southern end of the chamber, but offset to the west, another short horizontal passage leads into the second chamber. This passage was probably closed at one time and the offset was a measure intended to confuse potential robbers. The second chamber is similar to the first and lies directly beneath the apex of the pyramid. High in the southern wall of the chamber is an entrance, now reached by a large wooden staircase built for the convenience of tourists. This gives onto a short horizontal passage that leads to the third and final chamber with a corbelled roof 50 feet (15 m) high. The first two chambers have their long axis aligned north-south, but this chamber's long axis is aligned east-west. Unlike the first two chambers, which have fine smooth floors on the same level as the passages, the floor of the third chamber is very rough and sunk below the level of the access passage.

We visited this pyramid as part of a 2-week tour of Egypt. It is in the remote area of Dashur but definitely worth a visit as it is much less crowded than the Giza plateau. It is possible to go inside the pyramid to visit the burial chamber but as for the bent pyramid, it is not for the faint of heart / claustrophobic as it requires you to crawl down a small shaft (10 minutes to go down, 10 minutes to come back up).

Supposed to be red but can't tell initially Probably the luster of the red marble has worn off or the red marble itself that covered the pyramid is now gone. When you go inside you can see the redness of the stones as you climb down the tunnel.
