Best place to improve your English language

I suggested this place to a friend and went with them today after we’ve booked an online consultation and was very disappointed unfortunately. We thought the “consultation” was to explain the courses offered and what suits each individual, but seems like all the courses are generic and no where near customized for each students needs, no diversity, just like any other English teaching school, which is not what you’d expect from a prestigious institution like the British council. And we’ve tried to call customer support but got no response. Anyway, the consultation turned out to be an interview to test your level in English and I don’t even know how it’s possible to test someone’s language proficiency by reading questions off a computer screen in front of you (questions like what’s your name and what are your hobbies), even though the website indicates that the test should target the four major skills not only listening and speaking☺️. Not to mention every person we’ve encountered there told us that the test is not free but the fees will be deducted from the cost of the course if registered, which was so unnecessary to keep repeating the same information again and again as if we will ask for the money back or run without paying. I could honestly go on on why it was an unpleasant experience but I don’t want to complain too much so I will keep the negativity to myself and keep my review useful.

British council is an international organization offering education opportunities to non-native english speakers. Even though there were recently written negative reviews I did not care cause everyone has an opinion. So I booked a consultation which is mandatory to find out my level before register(You need to pay 15Jd and it will be deducted once you register for courses) Before having concultation, all students can send an email about theirs needs or goals of learning English. So I sent an email to check whether they have classes matched to my needs. But no one replied me back during few days. So I went to British Council without any reponse upon my reqeust and had a consultation. After consultation, I asked a consultant what I really want to learn at British council and asked 2-3times about their courses. She gave me the wrong answer but she told me they a various courses and suggest me to take a 60 credit courses(cause its the cheapest). But I decided to take 20 courses first. Then I took a class with high expectation(it is an agency of the UK!) but my experience in class was not good at all. There are no british but only teachers who studied in the UK. It doesnt matter at all whether they are british or not but it does matter how they teaching students. They(at least 2-3 of teachers I met) do not know how to control the class. And education material is not good as well. So I decided to quit. (There are more reasons for my decision but I will not write them.) It is not my first time of register for a 2nd language courses in an organization run by government. But THIS was the worst. At least for me, it was not a pleaseant experience at all.

I have visited the council many time within one month and found a warm welcomed smile and a helpful staff. Honestly, I feel great about the services they provide and about everything they provide and support me in. Many thanks for everyone there. .

If i want to describe studying in the teaching center of the British council i can say it's exciting flexible and interesting, you will meet different kinds of people from multiple nationalities and it will be so fun. practicing English there is so easy and comes natural without the fear of embarrassment.

I have try to call the British Council on 06 460 3420 about 5 times, I have No Answer to my questions until this moment. No one Answered the calls.

After visiting the British council in Amman i had bad experience with the receptionist, as i came in to know more information about the courses. There was 2 girls at the reception with no respect, i was hoping to get better response regarding my query. Nice clean place. The customer service telephone service needs to be enhanced as the operator is based in Egypt and gives inaccurate information about Amman branch. The problem is whenever you ask a question in Amman the staff tell you to call customer service number!

I took couple of international exams in there, the place is neat and clean and the staff is somewhat friendly.. yet i remember one lady from staff giving exam instructions in a tone, as if we were kindergarten students rather than mature experienced adults.. but overall good settings, pc and equipment…

I have asked for simple information on Tuesday around 3:30 and I got response on wednesday that next week will be contacted regarding the information, Now my question to the management of the british council like this.... why simple information would take three working days or lets forget about tuesday and count two days! I am just curious why two days for a simple information about exam, knowing that I have sent the information of the center that will make the exam in Dubai, is there any criteria regarding making the customers suffer when they ask for information? more questions.. does the management care about the customers satisfaction? To be honest, the staffs are kind and the teachers as well however, i took 20 ielts credits there and I can say I only got benefits about 17%, they could have put more efforts about the materials of each class. Therefore, it's a waste of money, time and efforts as well, I get better knowledge about the ielts exam on social media/websites for free better than those 20 credits. Hopefully this issue gets fixed soon. Also, you can't contact your teachers even through emails, meaning you won't be able to get any further help about the class itself or feedback about your writing samples from the teachers. Makes absolutely no sense and therefore, you should depend on yourself and search for other helpful resources.

Very bad service it takes forever to call them the calling process is very complicated and it doesn’t even work I have been waiting for my speaking test for weeks and it has not happened I have made 2 complains and I got zero phone calls from them in addition they do not receive any emails I tried sending an email to them it did not work my email was not sent to them they did not receive it in general its very hard to reach out to them and even for complains they are no help.
