I was craving for a cheese platter, so we ended up eating here. I just wish there were more crackers, although we really like the variety of fruits and dried fruits to go with the cheeses. They do have vegetarian entrees (one salad and the vegetable strudel), we got the latter. It was good but not filling. We also got a bowl of the butternut squash soup (yes that one was good). An IPA beer to start and ended up with a cappuccino.

They have large outdoor seating space and also live music band on the weekends. The pretzel plate include fruits and cheese. They have variety of cheese to taste and I love the blue berry infused cheese. Lots of beer selections here as well. Rotisserie chicken it’s really yummy and juicy. They also serve small German pickles to pair with.

As a German I absolutely approve of the Speisekammer. The food was probably the most authentic German food I have had outside of Germany. I had the Schweineschnitzel and it was really good and came with Bratkartoffeln with bacon and onions. I was also able to sample the Schweinshaxe with Sauerkraut and the Rinderroulade with mashed potatoes which both were excellent as well. There is also a large selection of German beers bottled, canned and from draft. Definitely coming back here.

Ugh just amazing food. Some of the most authentic and delicious German we've ever had. We live 1.5 hours away and will make the drive every now and then for the food. Vegetarian and gluten free options are clearly labeled. The spaetzle is TO DIE FOR, so freaking delicious. My husband loves the bratwurst. The mashed potatoes or shoestring fries are the perfect side to any dish. There's even gluten free beer for my husband! An extensive and delicious cocktail list. You need to try if you're in the area. Parking is a bit tight, so prepare to look for 5-10 minutes to find a spot. Lots of outdoor seating so we can take our pup with us!

Great food. Large portions. Friendly and efficient service. We took the room with the fireplace, which was a different world from the one next to it with overly bright lights.

The meat plate (fleischplatte) was excellent. Great selection of german beers including Spaten, one of my favorite Munich breweries. Was there this weekend. Had the restaurant week prixe fixe option. Got the pork goulash which was amazing. The pork fell apart easily and had a bit of a butter taste, probably from the spaetzle which was also amazing. The braut plate was great with the pretzle dumplings but not as good as the goulash. And the apple strudel was also amazing.

Authentic German food served in a festive atmosphere. Today was a special Oktoberfest day so there was live music and dancing plus a limited menu and mostly disposable dishware. The sausages were excellent as was the fresh side of carrot salad. The potato salad was a little mushy and not as tangy as the carrot salad. The spaetzle and meatballs were ok. Refreshing drinks on the menu like Elderflower spritz! Don't be afraid to bring your German foodies here, they will enjoy it!

This place was amazing!! I must say that I enjoyed the vibe of this place. It has that little German style 😍 Regarding the plates, I tried with my friends their tiny "Kleine Nürrnberger Bratwürtschen" (little sausage) as an appetizer ♥️ Their "Hugo Elderflower Syrup Spritz" had that balanced bittersweet taste, so if you don't have a sweet tooth for your drinks and cocktails, this is a good option. After that, we tried their Preztels with Beer-cheese sauce. The pretzel was not crusty at all, but I'm not sure if you could ask the waiters to make it crustier 🤔 Their crispy potato pancakes and their mashed potatoes went far and beyond delicious 😋 Let's not forget about their Bratwurst Gregrillt!! I must thank Pedro (our waiter) who was very helpful in suggesting these plates 🍽 😀

Best German food in the Bay. Seriously let me know if you know anywhere better but love this place. Perfect lunch after the flea market.

I have been coming here for almost 20 years. Great beer garden atmosphere. Beer list is great. Wine list is not great. Stay away from the Rieslings, even the higher end is average at best. Unfortunately :( they have Fleischkäse ( German meatloaf) as part of the grill platter but don’t offer it by itself. I wish, they would. Service has improved since last time I was here a year ago. Update 6/2023: Beer selection is still strong, but the cold cut platter is falling short of (basic) possibilities). I would call it an Italien/ US platter. Too much Salami. There are many sources for good German cold cuts, sad to see such a platter. Another fun activity is ordering a BOOT. It is not on the menu but you can ask the wait staff for it. 2022 review: Good food. Just the attitude. First I asked the waiter to put in a TO GO order just before the kitchen closes but he disregarded that request immediately. Then the kitchen closes and the chef sat next table and watched videos on his phone- FULL BLAST. When we finished dinner we had each about half a beer left. Then someone came and told us:: YOU HAVE TO LEAVE NOW. The tone of voice, the attitude: COMPLETE FAIL. When we walked out there were plenty of people still there. But we HAD TO LEAVE. Well, if that is their wish- it my command and I shall not come back

Speisekammer serves delicious, authentic German fare, along with a couple of Scandinavian and pan Slavic items, in a warm and super-friendly atmosphere. I grew up eating many of their menu items cooked at home by both sets of grandparents, and I truly enjoyed the potato pancakes with lox, the sauerbraten, shnitzel, and the sausages served with sauerkraut. The strudel with ice cream is especially tasty and a must-order. They also have a separate kids menu, and the service is outstanding. Our whole family very much enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be going back!

The greeting here was fantastic! The hostess was attentive and polite and whom we believed to be the owner was also there warmly welcoming us to his fine establishment.🙂 Service was rated 4 ⭐ instead of 5 because of a confusion between servers where we had asked to be seated. The confusion however was settled somewhat quickly, and a return visit with the same smiles as we received the first time minus confusion, would change the 4⭐ to 5⭐ easily! The food here has an authentic taste with a modern twist in presentation and plating. If you're looking for a fun environment with both indoor and outdoor seating and want a peak into German cuisine with a California flare... This is your spot!! 😎

If you ask where to eat German beer and foods in bay area, this will be no doubt the number one suggestion. There is great selection of German pils which has so refreshing taste to it.

Wonderful 1st time experience! Went for my birthday and was VERY pleased overall. 2 reasons why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars: 1) While server AND service was GREAT, I felt a little "rushed" by server, as if he really wanted to turn the table. But I'm NOT going to be RUSHED when eating! He brought a special birthday treat - which I welcomed; but I wasn't ready for it yet and wish I'd been ASKED WHEN I wanted it instead of server assuming his timing was the correct timing for ME! I do hope the next time he's serving a group celebrating that he'll ASK 1st before bringing the special item! Minor deduction! 2) Parking is HARD around here! Not their fault, of course, but since they make a BIG deal out of how long the reservation will be "held", seems a bit more flexibility is needed to find adequate parking! Plan ahead! Still, we had a GREAT time and, now that we know about this place, look forward to returning soon! In fact, we've already planned another family birthday celebration coming up!

Visited: Thursday evening, around 6:45 PM Ambience: The restaurant had a lively vibe, which was great, but it got a bit too loud for our liking. We initially sought refuge in the outdoor seating, only to find the benches unpleasantly wet and cold. A bit of a letdown for an outdoor option. Service: We faced some challenges here. After opting to dine inside due to the outdoor seating issue, we were tucked away in a back corner. It seemed like the staff was either stretched thin or not very attentive, as getting their attention was a task in itself, both during and at the end of our meal. Food: I went with the currywurst, a familiar choice and one of the more budget-friendly options on the menu. It was okay, but nothing to write home about, especially considering the wait time and the price point. Overall Impression: I had high expectations for this place based on what I’d heard, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the hype. From seating issues to service snags and underwhelming food, it just didn’t hit the mark for me. It’s a shame, really, as I was looking forward to a great dining experience. Not sure if I’d give it another try.

We had a great little family celebration here and will definitely be back for drinks on the patio. Pros: the drinks - lots of German & domestic beers, and good non alcoholic options too. The elderberry soda was delicious. the vibes - nothing like enjoying a cold drink outside in the sun😎 indoors is also cozy and they had TVs playing the basketball games. the food - authentic & delicious! higher priced than other local German spots but the portions are really hearty (half of us took leftovers home). the staff - super helpful on the phone, and our waitress was perfectly attentive without any awkward interruptions and remembered all our orders without a notepad. She also brought out strudels with a candle for the birthdays! For dog lovers - well behaved dogs are allowed on the patio. Cons - parking can be tricky. Unsurprisingly for a German place, there are a few vegetarian options but the only vegan choices are sides (which were all delicious - red cabbage, fries, & plain pretzel - but I don’t recommend it for a full meal).

Had the Wiener schnitzel. Substituted the potatoes with fries (that's how I grew up with them from restaurants in Germany and Austria). Very good and very close to what I was used to.

Came here at about 6:30 on a Saturday night. The place was starting to get busy but not packed yet. There is seating indoors and outdoors. We sent indoors at a table for two. The waitress attended well. I never felt neglected. Asked for an explanation on some of the items on the menu and she illuminated us. We got the meat sample platter. It was surprisingly not an overwhelmingly large amount of food. The meats were salted, cured, and meaty. The crowd here was lively. Loud conversations in an enclosed space. The larger tables had bench seating. The decor was homie and authentically German from what I could tell. Nice place overall. Next time, I'll be sure to try an actual platter with carbs.

I’m biased but I love this place. This was my first real dive into German food and one of my first visits, they seated a German couple next to me and they loved it which says a lot.

We had our wedding reception lunch at Speisekammer in the patio area on a lovely Friday afternoon. The entire staff was amazing, they kept our drinks full and the food came out quick and perfect as always. Everyone had a great time and we even got to meet the owner Peter who thanked us for choosing Speisekammer for our meal. The whole experience made our day so much more special. Thank you all for your amazing work. We are customers for life!

Been wanting to stop here for while. Had friendly service while sitting at the bar. Since I was wanting to try a couple things they were able to accommodate me by adding leberkäse to my sausage dinner for a small charge. Great selection of bier and the food was delicious. Will definitely go back!

Came here for lunch on a Friday, no problems finding seating. Ordered the reibekuchen (potato pancakes), and the reuben sandwich. The reuben sandwich was pretty large, and it was fantastic. Great service and the patio was dog friendly which was a major plus!

My favorite German restaurant in the entire United States. Great food! Great Beer! I’ve been coming here for 15 years and it’s always full of happy people enjoying great German food! My favorite dish, and one of my all time favorites anywhere, is the beef stuffed cabbage. So flavorful!! Just as good as I had it the first time 15 years ago when it was only a special. Now it’s a regular menu item and you can have it any time! You won’t be disappointed!!!

Truly excellent beer and awesome German comfort food. You absolutely have to order the potato pancakes. The reuben is amazing. The schnitzel is the best I've ever had, with an otherworldly mushroom sauce. It's slightly pricey, not something to do everyday, but the quality and flavor are completely worth it.

I love this place so much. Not only is the food delicious but it's adorable and the staff is super rad. Always friendly, always knowledgeable, always fun! Get the grapefruit radler!

We went on a relatively busy Saturday evening. The staff was super friendly and helpful in suggesting dishes. Their recommendations checked out completely - the sausage and the pork chop were 100% delicious, and the sauces complemented the dishes perfectly. We also got a schnitzel, which was wonderfully crispy. While neither of us are huge beer fans I believe both of us were quite satisfied with the one that we got! Worth the splurge for our college student bank accounts.

Went here for dinner and they have a St. Patrick's Specials. At first we thought the place will be pretty ratchet but we are quite surprised that its nice and not the usual place you'll think for a beer garden style. We had the corned beef and it was good, we also tried the Pretzel and it really is soo tasty, I ate half considering I am not a big pretzel fan. The Applestrudel is also very good! I will definitely come back to try their CurryWurst!
