I'm a current resident sick and tired of the horrible lack of security at this place. Last night the entire graduating class of alameda high gathered at our clubhouse and trashed the entire complex. Trash was found the next morning all over the streets, side walks, etc. People who don’t live here constantly trespass and use the amenities like the gym and pool areas. Unfortunately, they also litter, and create so much noise throughout the day and night with no respect for the residents here. Many tenants have complained (for years) and the only thing the landlord or upper management does is ask us to pay more for rent. Shame. Don't even get me started with the deterioration of my unit... Update on 6/18/23: still no word from management around reopening of the clubhouse, new policies to prevent trespassing into common areas, or improvements on security. Note, many kids trespass into the pool by jumping the fence or walking straight thru the doors which are often broken Update on 7/22/23: management team has made efforts to help prevent trespassing, thanks Sabrina! Updating rating to 4 stars. Update on 8/25/23: SouthShore has yet to really do anything regarding the chronic package thefts. Had several deliveries stolen from the package room, these last few weeks have been pretty bad. Hoping upper management acts soon

Don't move here if you want your packages stolen! The package room is broken into at least once per week. I've had hundreds of dollars worth of items stolen. They also forcibly renovated the decks few years ago (basically we had no access for 4 months) and still have failed to install an outlet and light on our deck, so we've had an exposed live wire for several years that they still haven't fixed. That didn't stop them from increasing our rent by a couple hundred last month. They also don't stick to their promises. For example, when they were renovating the apartments a few years ago, they sent a notice stating to remove all bikes and items from the garage by a certain date. Of course, 3 days BEFORE that date, they trashed/threw out/stole all of the bikes from the bike rack in the garage, including my $250 folding bike. Don't forget about the $50 monthly trash fee and $80 water and sewer fee and $20 hot water fee and $100 in parking and $10 in admin fees you have to pay every month. Cumulatively, they must be racking up at least half a mil in extra "fees" every year from all the residents. Add AT LEAST $250 to whatever "monthly rent" you are quoted to get the REAL price you'll be paying. Oh and the water/sewer/trash are divided up by building, so if fewer people happen to live in your building - you'll be paying more! Totally fair! Oh, and don't forget you'll be sharing the clubhouse and all the amenities with all the local high school kids and residents of the neighboring condominiums! I had to call 911 a few weeks ago due to a raucous 100+ person party that was being thrown there. The people who live in the next door condos also come over and frequently use the pool deck and grill. It's great paying high rent so that non-residents can use your amenities. I have lost HUNDREDS of dollars of items unnecessarily by living here in this apartment complex. They're just here to get your money and don't care about you as a resident. We are looking for another place to live as soon as possible and I will continue to tell anyone I can about the terrible management at this building. I will say that the ONLY redeeming qualities about this place are: nice location and the regular maintenance workers are friendly. Attached photos: -broken in mail room with torn open packages -broken mail room lock -example of monthly fees charged -line of high schoolers trying to break into the clubhouse -Homeless man bathing in hot tub several times per week

I rarely leave reviews but I feel compelled to help others so they don't make the mistake I did by moving here. I’m a current resident (hopefully not for much longer) and have been since February. I have regretted moving here from very early on. All you need to do is read the reviews provided by actual tenants. You will find many negative reviews and they are very accurate accounts of the situation here. I wish I would have done better due diligence. I will say my encounters with the staff have been very pleasant but unfortunately, they cannot make up for the very negative experience I’ve endured while living here. They market this as luxury living but it falls far short and the lackluster condition of the property, ongoing extremely loud construction, toxic debris (asbestos), crime, maintenance issues, and unusable/offline amenities are ALL consistently problematic, to say the least. As a tenant, there's constantly some issue that makes it impossible to have an enjoyable experience at the property. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. At this price point, there are far better options available in the area without the ongoing issues, and they at least attempt to earn the premium they charge. To add insult to injury, they are having people who have only toured the complex leave 5 reviews as a means to boost their ratings. The 3.4-star rating on here would easily fall into the 2-star range if only tenants were allowed to leave reviews of their experience living at this property.

Constant concern with package theft. Pretty sure residents routinely steal from you. My bicycle was cut off of the bike rack (in the “secured garage”). Someone stolen our pumpkin from our front door. A homeless guy likes to frequent the main pool and bath in the hot tub. Tenants routinely are loud after quiet hours at the pools. Dont live near the pools if you enjoy some sense of peace and quiet. Security is a constant issue and anyone can freely trespass the grounds. The management has gotten better but I think their hands are tied when it comes to make and meaningful changes. I would look elsewhere if you have options.

First, Jonathan is a true gem. He took us on our tour, last minute, and showed us apartments that worked for our budget. He was very attentive to our preferences and must-haves. Jonathan was so patient as we worked out the details of our potential move—checking in and letting us know all of our next steps—and for that I am so grateful. Although we decided not to move into these apartments, the apartments we viewed were great. They were so large and spacious and the amenities were awesome. And it is right next to the beach! The only downfall to these apartments are some of the reviews from the current tenants. 😨

My husband and I visited South Shore Apartments this past Saturday. Jonathan Greer gave us a tour and we are extremely impressed. His personality and kindness was awesome. Jonathan started kindly asking us for what we were looking for. His diligence was impressive as he showed us three apartments, amenities and at all times was very interested in accommodating us based on our needs. His enthusiastic personality and keen interest to assisting us was first class. Because of your genuine interest to helping us left us with a very positive impression on South Shore Apartments. We are still to keep searching, however, our experience with Jonathan elevated our positive experience with South Shore Apartments. Thank you Jonathan - keep up the great job!

I have been at South Shore apartments for about a year and overall I think the place is great. I have not had any issues when it comes to service. Whenever I need anything the team is helpful, friendly, and great. There are also a lot of things going on in the complex that make it attractive. Rosemary was the main person I worked with and she was always very friendly and helpful, making it a positive experience. Other apartments do not always have this good service!

I moved to South Shore Apartments about a year ago and I absolutely love it here! They remodeled the entire complex and they have so many great amenities. They host pool party events with food, drinks and music, have chefs come by to the amazing clubhouse, pet grooming come to us, taco trucks, conference rooms, lounges to rent out for any special event, yoga instructors and more fun fitness activities! I’ve grown a great relationship with the new management team, they coordinate very well with their maintenance team to resolve any issues/fixtures efficiently and very professionally. I would love to shout-out SABRINA who is part of the new management team for being so kindhearted, very responsive to all my questions/concerns and for her professionalism.
