The place is a great spot. Quiet, beautiful. The service is good. Some waitresses are better than others in their customer service. All friendly. The food is not bad but It is very seasoned. More than they need. Plates are huge so you can share. They are pet friendly. They have tables outside. The price is between 20-30 if you share and don’t drink. It is 30-50 if you drink some tequilas.

This review is for people who want to know what I consider to be a good restaurant. This Mexican restaurant is extremely popular with the locals and is well-known. The food is excellent, portions are large, service is amazing. Quality on all fronts is superb: shrimp are fresh and huge, chicken breast is used not thigh meat, chips are non oily, salsa is good [needs chunks of onion, pepper tho], fresh tortillas, etc. Also note the diversity and wide variety on the menu, all at good prices for California. Fish is fresh and can be used in all entrees. Note they also provide cold CANS of Diet Coke to ensure quality; not flat DC mixed w carbonated local tap water…blech. Also notice whole beans are offered not just lard infused refried beans. Utah’s mediocre Mexican restaurants need to come here to learn how it is done! Mostly they are garbage.

The service here was quick, and the staff was friendly. The food was really good. I grew up eating here, and I haven't had anything I didn't like.

It has long been my opinion that you can estimate how good a Mexican restaurant is based on their salsa. La Penca Azul's salsa is amazing and has been consistent for well over a decade! I highly recommend a visit for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; you won't be disappointed.

this place is great. The food is amazing and they have the nicest staff I've dealt with in a long while. In this day and age when people seem like it is such an inconvenience to do their job its hard to find a place with both good food and good service. La Penca Azul has both ! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want to experience food the way it should be.

DOS: 10/18/2023 7PMish Food: ordered Tamal, Beef Enchilada, Beef Taco. It was just ok. Not the best, not the worst. Beans were good though! Service: The lady taking my order made me repeat it like 5 times! No joke. She kept trying to give me chili rellenos for some reason. She did not come to check on me once after she gave me my food. Atmosphere: It was a lively place with an adjacent bar. Drinks: had a margarita or two and they were both pretty good.

Love this place for kids. They actually eat and sit in the relaxing back room of the take out section once per week and I don’t have to freak out that my two year old will have a meltdown lol. Perfect for stressed families.

This place has INCREDIBLE service. These guys are so prompt it blows my mind. Chips and salsa is the best I’ve ever had. It has some smoky flavor (maybe chipotle?) that makes it addictive. Huge portions and great prices! I love this place!
