Well where to start the staff was friendly and somewhat helpful. The room was disgusting, I first noticed as I walked in a very hasty water damage repair as I walked into the room as I my stay went by the water continued to seep through and ruin the patch till one day I walked in and part of the patch was on the floor. Went to the bathroom and noticed tons of water damage with unfinished patch work loose tile rusted light fixtures and torn shower curtain. The bed was clean and neat but the floor was dirty and not maintained. the ac at 60 felt like 80 degrees. Behind the night stands hadn’t been dusted in who knows how long. The pool was closed gym lacking and lobby and hallways dirty and smelled pungent. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

This place was such a disappointment. It does not deserve the 4 star rating it gets. It was smelly, dirty and there is no water in the pool or hot tub. They only had one front desk person who had to end up helping the one housekeeper on staff to clean up another guests room who complained so there was no one available up front to help us with 1. the broken toilet seat 2. the shower head that was about to fall off and 3. the remote control that wouldn't work. I realize this is located in a small town and everyone is having trouble finding reliable employees but for a Marriott that wants to still charge top dollar as a consumer we expected more. They shouldn't rent rooms out if they're not able to host their guests properly.

It seems like this place may have been nice at one point but has gone downhill quite a bit: -At check in, there was no one to be found for about 5 minutes. The hotel was eerily quiet.. We knocked on their door as well as the break room and housekeeping doors to no avail. Finally someone walked in from outside to check us in (he was friendly and helpful). -The room AC is inadequate for the local climate. Hot and humid in the room. If you take a shower, the hot air just sits in your room as there is no obvious air return. -The pool and hot tub are completely drained and unusable. -The gym is hot with no option to control the AC. Also the one resistance training option in there (cable machine) is unusable and appears unsafe. -The general condition of the rooms is ok, but getting run down (stains on lamp shades etc). We are moving to the Home2 for our 2nd night's stay, mostly out of principle.. Recommend avoiding until new management is brought in, they are not doing the Marriott brand any favors here!

The sewage smell as soon as you walk in the door is an accurate preview to the entire hotel. Our room was filthy and just entirely neglected maintenance wise. The tile in the bathroom was coming up and moved when you walked across it. The floor in the shower had so much soap scum on it that it was like standing on an ice skating rink. My two year old fell and hit her head while I was showering her. Thank God I was there to soften her fall so she was not seriously injured. The hot tub had been drained in the swimming area as it was apparently broken,. Perhaps they simply didn't have any maintenance staff? The "breakfast" was inedible. The foot high PILE of garbage on top of the garbage can in the breakfast area was just absolutely disgusting. At 9:30, on the dot a staff member showed up to start taking down the "breakfast" as I was just about to grab a container of cereal, when she came back out I asked if I may have one. She apologized for her haste and stated that she was only allowed 6 hours so she had to hurry. Management needs to seriously reconsider any hours cut to any cleaning staff. We moved to the hotel across the street and had a much better experience for less $$.

Stayed in a king suite with a Kitchen. The room had not been properly cleaned. And felt muggy and dirty. Modern furnishing’s, but very dated. No usb plug-ins. The hotel Hallway carpet could be better maintained. Felt the same as the room. My shower drain like many post was clogged. Repaired myself so I did not have to stand in a pond of nasty water. Checked out early and stayed in Ruidoso. Not worth the $$$

Staying here in Alamogordo as a couple’s trip to White Sands. Took us hours to get here. So we were Exhausted and ready to relax in our hotel room. But just as we’re ready to wind down we find: 1) the AC is weak and we’re sweating in the overheated room 2) Two phones are in the room and NEITHER ONE WORKS. 3) The safe for our valuables DOES NOT WORK. 4) Carpet is filthy, and we have a BLACK film on the bottom of our feet! Is this how you welcome your guests? On a positive note, super comfortable beds and housekeeping promptly brought us a fan when we asked. But other non working items classify this as a room which was not ready for guests and should not have been sold to us. Seems like poor record keeping on the status of rooms. Bottom line…If the room is not ready for guests, for goodness sake don’t sell the room to guests.

The hotel appeared dirty and a need of repairs. The common areas were hot and stale. The pool was closed (it seems like it's always closed). The room keys did not work but the clerk did the best he could. I gave one star because the shower was surprisingly refreshing and the breakfast in the morning was not bad. This place has gone down hill over the years, It doesn't seem up to Marriott standards anymore..

Poorly kept, dirty and worn room. Bed linen seemed clean, but literal dirt on carpet in corners to the point of being discolored. TV remote not programmed. Tried for an hour to fix. No front desk attendant after 5pm. No pool. AC was "suggestive" at best and room was hot and humid/musty. Showerhead shot water at paint peeled ceiling in bathroom. There was no soap. No spare toilet paper. Paid for the room in points. Not much credit for my "titanium status". I know pandemic made it hard, but I feel like all marriott properties have been severely let go. ETA: I only mention my status because I stay a lot of my life on the road and this turned out to be the worst hotel stay in recent memory of hundreds of properties.

My room was filthy and disgusting. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years and the ceiling in the bathroom was split like there had been a water leak and they didn't bother to clean up after. The a/c in the room didn't really work. (80° is not my idea of comfortable which is about as low as it would go) The pool was completely drained which doesn't make any sense during the summertime. This hotel should be leveled and rebuilt from the ground up. I will definitely try the Holiday Inn or Home2Suites next time I am in town.

The location was affordable, and the staff was extremely pleasant. But the quality of the room was lacking a bit, while clean enough the room showed definite signs of aging and heavy use over the years. The bathroom as clean but there was a fair amount of hair on the tile floor, likely from cleaning staff ( it was not enough to warrant a complaint in my opinion) over all I don't have very high standards, so I'd rate the room a 5.5/10. Oh also the complimentary breakfast and coffee was actually really good.

I may have had the best customer service of my life today while checking into the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. Emily at the front desk was professional, well-mannered and so helpful. Check-in was expedited quickly. Hotel information with breakfast times and other services were pointed out without having to be requested. Emily went above and beyond with making dinner recommendations as well. Unfortunately, time did not allow for me to venture out but with no missed beats Emily offered the meals and snacks available on-site for being a member of the Marriott rewards. Long story short....somebody get Emily a raise! And thank you Marriott for employing such wonderful and helpful staff.

This is by far one of the worst bonvoy properties I’ve stayed at. The lobby and room smell like sewage. The pool is out of service and the fitness centers temperature was at least 100 degrees. The workout station has been destroyed. All the pulley cables were frayed/broken. Elevator call button on second floor is broken. Basically the hotel needs some serious attention/maintenance as these items I’ve mentioned are only skimming the surface.

I’m not sure which rooms the other guests stayed in that they’re reviewing them as “nice & clean” but our room had a hole in the ceiling, 4 separate holes in the shower curtain, rust on the light over the sink, and half-used shampoo/conditioner along with an opened and very clearly used bar of soap. For having a seriously high status with the Marriott brand, this was an absolute disgrace. The only difference between this hotel and a motel 6, is the price. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

It's conveniently located from the Highway. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. I was greeted at the front desk by a young person who was so very positive and that did their best to make sure I got the room I wanted. I also was given a special elite status parking space. I've done a recent remodel of all their shower bathrooms and they're really very nice with a rain shower attachment. There are several nearby chain type restaurants that can accommodate a family and some have bars so if you're a single person you can sit and eat. Many have reasonable good tasting take out. Of course the nearby suburbs have lots of really good individually and family-owned restaurants with different types of food. They also have returned to serving a hot breakfast. It was typical fare and was hot and plentiful. They had the usual good stuff where you make your own waffles and have sausage scrambled egg and fresh fruit, juice, muffins, bagels and stuff like that. I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot plentiful. I always tip the breakfast person and housekeeping, it's an old school way of thinking and I hope people consider adopting it in these times. They suggested a local restaurant for a reasonable good tasting take out. The rooms were clean and well appointed as well as modern and quiet. I would stay there again. It's fairly close some good breakfast places should you not want to eat breakfast at the hotel. When I registered I registered directly with the hotel by phone. I find I get better results with the type of room I want.

I stay at over 80 nights a year as a Marriott Titanium Bonvoy Member and this hotel was sadly close to the bottom, if not the bottom of my worst experiences! The room AC did not work, the shower spout was detaching from the wall, the TV was harder to work then the ICE machine that was also broken, the gym equipment was poorly maintained, pool was drained, coffee was worse than any Army coffee I had in 15 years of service! I asked to speak to the manager and or the head boss of this establishment and never received a phone call or message! So add on professionalism as a negative as well! It’s hard to say this but maybe look at the motel 6 across the street you will have a more pleasant stay I’m sure!

We chose this location for our family's Spring break trip, we picked this location because of the indoor swimming pool. Upon arrival we got our first let down the pool was drained and we were told that it was not to be filled until April. This is a poor decision since I witnessed many other family's also wanting to use the pool. Once we got over that first disappointment we headed up to out room 217. Which had an AC that bearly worked and the smell of mildew and only one remote that only worked on the TV that was for the small living area. The only positive thing about this location was the location. If we ever travel to Alamogordo again we will not be staying at this motel.

This was a good hotel for a work-related trip. The rooms are clean and offer a lot of space for spreading out. The breakfast options were of a different variety than what you find in other places. This included oatmeal with a "flight" of toppings and golden molten waffles.

I know they were short on help but we weren't able to check in until after 5pm. We 3 cousins had reserved a suite which has always been 2 beds and a sleepable couch. Nooo...this was the poorest design for a sofa I had ever seen. Yes, it was probably a design that someone was very proud of but totally impractical. So we had to get another suite to be close to each other. The rooms were huge, the beds comfortable, linens smooth.....but no coffee maker...no mucrowave...no fridge. Fairfield...never again.

At request of my lawyer I had to make a trip back to fully leave the area - 2 nights. At first everything seemed fine. The elevator had a light septic smell. Then a missing HDMI cable on the second tv in the room. I goto shower and the water was luke warm. We thought the toilet was continuously running, but it sounded like running water all night. This continued for our 2 night stay. We checked out early in the morning, I got my receipt. A $250 dollar charge and a clean air charge. When I asked the desk he told me the manager put it on our last day. I asked him to check the room and he shrugged it off. We got to Texas and I decided to call. Very rude and kept cutting me off. She accused us of smoking pot in the room. First, my husband and I have med cards. Second, we did not smoke pot in the room or on your property. Third, I have a aggressive form of cancer and it allows me to eat. Fourth, I did not know you all have a medical degree because three doctors put me on it. Five, the pot smell was transfer from clothing. Six, how about moving your cigarette smoking area away from the front door. You provide the cig disposal container and benches for people to smoke cigarettes by the main entrance. Some people get nauseated by the cigarette smell. Seven, maybe you should have called the police on us. They could have searched everything including the vehicle, and they would have found nothing. Eight, if you are staying because of a hot tub, please call and verify if it is up and running. It was drained while we were there. You want to charge me for a clean air issue, how about fixing the sewage smell. How many fecal cells did I breathe in? Nothing worse than that raw sewage smell. So for future customers...better watch out what you smell like because they will charge you, they will not tell you they did it, and get belligerent about it if questioned. I will not be judged or apologize for my medical requirements by non medical personnel. After 10 years of utilizing Marriott, I shut my rewards down, and will never stay again at a Marriott brand. Pros: the breakfast lady was nice and always told us good morning. The room was clean, and housekeepers were nice, and the maintenance guys also friendly.

I've stayed here many times over the years. Recently, SEP 2023, I've noticed a few things "slipping." The staff are great, but the property has slightly declined. I heard that Marriott corporate paid them a visit and threatened to remove "their brand badge," or whatever they call it. I'm giving 4 stars because it's still very decent in the room, and the staff are great. Hopefully management will keep up the needed maintenance of the property. I'd stay here again, and most likely will, but if it continues to decline that could change.

Nice location near restaurants and the mall. Pretty close to the national park and the giant pistachio. Staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Rooms was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was basic Marriott fare. A few tips…you need your room key to work the ice machine. The shower was fun but remember the hot water control goes RIGHT for more hot water - not left like most everywhere else. We would recommend this as a nice stay if you plan to visit Alamogordo

Comfortable bed, clean, and felt nicer than the other hotels I’ve stayed at in the area. We were in the room right next to the elevator which was a bit loud, but the shower had a rainfall shower head which was an amazing surprise. Will stay here again.

Not very good experience. The room is clean but smelly. They don't even have shade curtain, so you see bright light from opposite buildings at night, which disturbs the sleep. On the good side, the breakfast was okay and staff is helpful.

Very nice and modern suites. They are very clean and the beds are amazing, so comfortable. The suites are very comfortable and cozy. I don't usually feel like that in hotels.

Excellent service upon check in. The room was clean and comfortable. The rainfall shower was a welcome surprise and the bed was super comfortable and neat. We would definitely stay here again.

Very nice and clean place. The room was very large and nice size. The shower had dual heads which was awesome. Breakfast bar was really good. Will definitely be back if I were in the area

Friendly desk staff, check-in and check out was fsat, great breakfast. The hotel is clean. Nice patio area with a grill. The pool is closed, the gym room has no AC, the cable mechine is broken. I had a hard time getting my roomed cleaned.

Really pleasant stay overall, the manager was the sweetest hotel manager ever! Would highly recommend staying here if you're staying in Alamogordo, 10/10 would pick this place again if I had to. Ask the front desk for sleds if you're going to white sands!!! They're free to use!!!!

  • 3/5 Nate G. 2 years ago on Google
Pool closed when I was there. Lacking modern water fountains. Gym equipment broken. Rooms were warm, even with AC cranked. The room refrigerator makes a loud clunk sound every 30min or so. Had a room with hot tub and even tried it…control board wasn’t working. Cool fish tank though. Friendly staff.
