Stunning on sunny day, great spot to view the whole Auckland. Easy to walk, just a bit tricky to find the car park. Partial walk is under construction.

Sights @ Mount Eden. . As the highest natural point in Auckland, at 196-metres above sea level, Mount Eden offers fantastic views of the city. . It's also an attraction in itself; the dormant volcano boasts a majestic bowl-like crater, 50-metres deep and covered with grass at the summit. Boardwalks encircle the summit, allowing visitors to traverse the rim. . I made the mistake of beginning the ascent from base level, rather than driving up nearer the peak. The sharp, steep incline requires good fitness, and sound mental fortitude. . Eventually made it to the top but it took longer than expected.

This is a must when you are visiting Auckland. There is a 10-15 minute walk up to the crater. This can be a little challenging for the elderly, but there is no rush. When you reach the summit, you are greeted with a 360 view of the Auckland area. Lots of spots for photos - one can easily spend 30-60 minutes at the top just chillin. Take a bottle of water with you.

The board walk is under construction, so cannot complete the loop walking around the crater. Closed the way to the summit. Easy walk from the parking.

Great walk, great views! Pace yourself and you can do it! As of this time (March 2023), a section of the boardwalk around the top was closed off for repairs, but there are still plenty of areas to access.

Came for the views, blown away by the crater! This place is cool. Awesome virtually 360 degree views around the city; and the most fabulous grass covered crater.

Nice view of the city. Boardwalk still under construction towards the end - theyโ€™re building to complete the loop.

Itโ€™s got some pretty good spots for decent photos to the skyline of the city. You can possibly capture the sky tower and the Barbour bridge in the same photo. Need a bit of long exposure and viola. It can be quite windy at night so better put up something warm. Great place for some walk.
