Do not stay here. This place is not as it seems on the pictures. It is run down and needs to be off the market or renovated. Poor ventilation, boarding on the windows and a permanent stench of damp walls run throughout the hallways. We did not end up staying after we assessed the area and chose a much better hotel.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at No. 9 Hotel, and it was truly a delightful experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was captivated by the charm and elegance of this boutique gem. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, making check-in a breeze. They were always ready to offer helpful recommendations and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable. The room was a haven of tranquility, beautifully decorated and impeccably clean. The attention to detail in the design and furnishings truly sets No. 9 Hotel apart. The comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep, and the view from my window was breathtaking. The location couldn't be better. No. 9 Hotel is conveniently situated in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore all the local attractions and restaurants. Whether you're here for business or leisure, the location is perfect. In summary, No. 9 Hotel is a hidden gem that exceeded my expectations in every way. From the warm and welcoming staff to the beautifully appointed rooms, and the outstanding dining options, this hotel is a true gem. I can't wait to return to No. 9 Hotel on my next visit to the city. It's a place where you'll create lasting memories and experience genuine hospitality.

Completely horrible! Needs serious work done on employees and ownership. At least take pride in your hotel. The rooms definitely were not as advertised on the website. The windows do not block out any street sound nor other guests room sounds. Fighting throughout the night kept us up until early hours of the morning. We were lucky if we got half an hour without the room below us screaming off their heads. Not to mention the starting of construction road drilling which started at 11pm Causing my partner and I to be in a constant state of panic and annoyance. The same guests that were arguing were ringing door bells and yelling out of the streets and my partner watched and was verbally abused when seen watching. The cheek of it! Staff is horrible and rude and the owner needs to work of his hotel if he expects any customers

Paid NZ$409.52 for 4 nights stay. Booked through Agoda. 1. Stayed on the 4th floor at the front of the hotel. The sound proofing of the room was poor as we could hear clearly the next room opening and closing of the door and sometimes people talking in the room or corridor. Traffic noise can also be heard in the room even with the windows closed. 2. The room was clean and a bit small for 2 persons. There was insufficient space to fully open 2 medium suitcases on the floor and no wardrobe to hang our clothes. 3. The air-con was powerful and cold. 4. The size of shower area and face basin area was small but the drainage was good. The water pressure was strong but the toilet floor would be wet after showering. The hotel provided face and bath towels. 5. The wifi was stable. 6. Service staff at the reception was helpful and friendly. 7. Ample car park spaces beside the hotel but must pay NZ$15 for overnight parking. 8. Westfield Newmarket Shopping Centre was about 5-8 minutes walking distance from the hotel. A lot of eateries in the Newmarket area.

I haven’t stayed here but I live in the area and there is ALWAYS an awful woman screeching her car horn incessantly at all hours of the day in the carpark, yelling and screaming abusive language towards the hotel windows whenever someone has parked in her “carpark”. She’s rude, she yells obscene language at anyone and everyone, so if you enjoy being verbally abused by a stranger because you happened to pick the wrong carpark, this is the place to be…If you want a quiet rest, this is not the place to stay. She does this in the early hours of the morning, at any point during the day and at all hours of the evening. Hotel staff are either unable or unwilling to address this. Would never recommend this place.

-dodgy people around. -The place smelled like curry. -We had to park at a bank across and further up the road. Which was annoying for carrying stuff to the place or having to walk in the rain after getting ready and trying to cross a busy main road near the city (Only free on weekends, other wise no where to park as residents use the carparks) -The shower smelled like urine. Still felt dirty after a shower. -It was like a hostel or emergency housing. -A guy who lives there kept asking us for money. -by far, the worst place I've ever stayed in. I've never been so angry to stay at a place before. The noise from the roads was pretty noisy, I slept like 4 hours in the 2 nights we were there. -it was hot and stuffy. The aircon didn't work either. *I know I sound like a karen, but please read reviews before booking. It would make life easier. Couldn't get a refund, so we just went with it.*

I would give 0 stars but it's not an option. I can't believe the city approved this place to be a hotel. It looked like a dump. There were dodgy people everywhere. And the rooms are filthy and smelly and dont look anything like the pictures on the website. The bed was dirty and there were boogers wiped on stuff. I left after 10 minutes because thats not a place that I want my kid sleeping In. I can't believe people actually sleep here. was lucky enough to get a refund but they kept 20 dollars. I'm really disappointed and would rather pay extra for a better place. I'm currently in the Ramada and it's way better. DO NOT STAY THERE!!!

Quite gross room. Could have definitely been cleaned better. Dirty footprint on the middle of the curtains. Dirty drips down the walls. Dirt stain on the bed sheets, and an old sock behind the door. Has to be the worst hotel I have stayed in, based on hygiene.

Pretty bad experience. It's not a good cost-benefit. Smelly bathroom; you can hear all the noise from the streets, which makes it really hard to sleep; they seem to have an air conditioner control in the reception, so you know what this means, right?! I asked them if I could leave my car there if I arrived a few minutes earlier and they said they would charge me $20 for that (btw, the parking lot was absolutely empty when I arrived, so it was nothing but a choice). To sum up, not recommended.

I took the room for one week from Monday 1. /10/ 2022 I paid the money until Sunday morning. On Saturday morning they called me with threatening phone call. Need to come down with all my stuffs in reception and need to vacate. There is no air condition is working. Always very hot air is coming I complaint it They replied please vacate the room there is no technician available for repair. When I refuse to vacate the room on Saturday morning they called the police. One of the police officer called me. They need to check the truth. With out that they also income to go to reception. Finally I decide just vacate. They give my room to other person with high rate. All adds are fake fit this hotel. If you spend the money you will get good motels near by. So please be aware. This is not good one. Terrible service. The manger called Annie is terrible The rooms are very bad smell And terrible. Air conditioning is not working at all. Please be careful. It is for every one safety and don’t loss your money

Well the room was nice. And staff were stand offish. But very tidy on the first floor I stayed Stayed for 3 nights. I would never recommend this motel to many people. Unless they were desperate for accommodation in Auckland. It is also a pitt stop, for people who WINZ put up, on upper floors. And domestic arguments were heard loudly each night. And outside in the carpark behind the building. The elevator didn't work, and was not repaired in time I was there. This morning on my departure day Thursday. The front door electronic system failed and I couldn't go outside. This was at 6 am approximately this morning. I called for a live in manager, who said, it was a electronic failure. It was fixed by 8 am. A helpful person staying there said use a emergency exit to get out, and make sure I don't let the door closed, or wouldn't be able to get back inside. I wonder how many people during the night were locked inside, or outside trying to get in or out. What happened to the old fashioned way of using a key to let your self in or out. Far easier and simple, instead of electronic system. And if your a smoker, you have numerous underisable people hanging round the front entrance, asking you for a cigarette, or picking up the cigarette butt you threw away. I honestly thought I had a chance of being mugged by these people. The place needs a complete overhaul, and basic but secure system to come and go as you please. The cleaning staff were very helpful and efficient and did a excellent job. The receptionist needs to do a course in public relations. And be more welcoming, friendly. I asked about taxis, she goes there is a list, you pick one. The room did not have a brochure of amenities offered by the place. Lucky I did not see any cockroaches a previous reviewer mention. To be honest I am appalled by the place, and essential high improvements need to be done asap.

Such a horrible experience. Manager is not accomodating and the rooms are in need of renovation. The room they gave us has a ton of holes and the curtains and windows are in bad shape. The stand fan in the room was not fit for use, it is so noisy and the screw fell while in use, very unsafe. Would not recommend. We did not end up staying.

Really good for the price! Room was nice and clean, bathroom was great, good central location. The only thing was it was quite noisy being near the motor way and being on a busy intersection. Maybe they called get thicker curtains?

Stayed in dorm room. A polish man had his food stolen. Then my milk was stolen . The next day all my food plus two chillybags. Staff dont appear to investigate. The shared kitchen was dirty with no plates cups or anything other than pots. This is the worst hostel Ive stay in for 30 years traveling the world. Dont stay here

DONT BOOK HERE! Infestation of cockroaches and bed bugs all throughout the hotel complex literally putrefying. People who stay there under emergency accommodation smoke in there rooms which makes the hall ways smell of cigarette or cannabis.

I stayed here back & fourth in between visits for business over a period of 2-3 weeks. On a arrival I was greeted with a warm welcoming smile by Annie at reception. Room service daily, with fresh towels, handtowel, bathmat, topped up toiletries daily, this 4bedroom dormitory has a private ensuite, a very cosy warm & quite room to stay in, overall great for its price. I was very impressed to see the carpet in the communal areas being steam cleaned. Although a few staff don't speak clear english, their hardworking ethics & warm smiles paid off. No 9 hotel is in the perfect location its handy to all amneties, a dairy & a yummy korean eatery next door. mins walk to Westfield shopping mall is amazing & rooftop eatery has a variety of yummy food to choose from. It's close & easy to access the motorway from the hotel. Overall local retailers are also super friendly 😊. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone that's looking for something affordable clean, cosy & close to all amenities.

This place is pretty well located just a few minutes from the mall. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Room service was awesome and we had fresh towels each day ☀️ one thing they could improve on is maybe higher curtains. We were facing the car yards and were blinded by their outrageously bright lights all night. But other than that it's very good value

It was a terrible experience. We were given a room that has lots of holes on the wall, a faulty stand fan (wobbly, filthy, and totally unsafe), phone in the room that could not connect to the receptionist, and lastly, a horrible customer service. Not recommended at all.

To say this place needs a bit of maintenance would be an understatement! One of our party’s tap was falling out of the sink. I had a toilet seat that so loose you could have fallen off it. The shower head would only stay up if you balanced it on your head. And then there were the bedside lamps with no bulbs - pretty dangerous if you put your hand up inside to check why it wouldn’t come on. The bed while probably only a double was fairly comfortable though. Reception was about as dingy as the dodgiest American motel with a Perspex screen in front , held together with tape and looking like it has been the victim of a number of physical attacks

Was a bit worried after reading the reviews, but I don’t get the hate. The room is clean and tidy. Fridge and microwave. Lots of coffee and tea. Comfy bed and fast WiFi. Mall nearby and affordable price for a room. People complain about the windows and noise, maybe that’s the only problem really. Get some headphones and listen to some beach noises or something

Stayed here one night transiting through AKL. I booked a queen ensuite on the first floor and was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and comfortable. Just be prepared to walk a good 15-20 minutes down the road if there's no on site parking available.

Shared the 4 bunk room, signed in late,Abdul had us sorted with keys and a parking space. We were so grateful after a long travel, room was clean with en suite,a few scuffy marks on the wall that didn't look nice.beds were comfortable and the pillows were amazing...the shared space kitchen and dining looked cool, but did see cockroaches on the bench...gross..so that kinda out us off..a good spot to sleep and do the take offs.our parking was secure and there was wheel chair accessible lifts to upstairs and common area.

The walls were marked, dirty and the whole place stank! Checked for dust above the bed was filthy, underneath the bed to, bathroom was dirty all the edges. Thank god I took a spray disinfectant I gasses the place! The heater on wall was cracked which is a hazard, mould on windows, very noisy and certainly not what the photos show. Disgusting place!!! Also have stayed in cleaner DOC hostels than this place!

Not what I expected, I think the hotel has definitely seen better days. Great location next to Newmarket shopping centre, but that's about it. Not clean at all, I even found bugs throughout the room and bathroom. I would not recommend, I found the price to be too high for the state of the room.

  • 1/5 Josh P. 1 year ago on Google
Kitchen space is putrid, cockroaches roam over the countertops and in the cutlery drawer. There is very limited cutlery, plates, and cooking implements, the hotplates barely work and the fridge doesn't seem to have been cleaned this year. The rooms are passable and clean, but if you want to cook like they advertise the hotel is capable of facilitating then good luck you'll be spending a lot of money on takeaway and restaurants. So save your money by going somewhere else

Better than we had expected. The lobby was not a sign of things to come as our room was quite nice and well appointed. Certainly worth the $$

Stayed here at the beginning and end of my NZ vacation. Rooms are nice and beds are comfortable. Love the location, it's right next to Newmarket for all of the food options that are out there and the price has been reasonable on both stays. Only minor downside is the windows are single pane so if the sun is beating on your window it can get pretty warm quickly.

The photos were definitely a catfish. No greeting when we walked in. Took my ID and told us what level we were staying on and what the WiFi password was. Didn’t tell us what time checkout was or where the communal kitchen was. (Check out is 10am fyi). Room was tidy but there were cobwebs in the corners, thick layer of dusk above the bed and rubbish under the bed too (beer cans). Windows were almost impossible to slide open. We only knew the place had a kitchen from the photos. The kitchen only had pots and pans but the stove didn’t work. Had to share 1 portable stove. Only plates, bowls and eating utensils were provided from your room. Spatulas, knife, can open, cutting board etc are not provided. When we were checking out. They didn’t say Hi or goodbye. I just passed them the key and they didn’t say anything. The place also smells strange. We heard yelling and screaming throughout the night. This place is definitely not 3.9 stars.

Nice hotel with a very nice team, ready to help you when you need it. We stayed there for two weeks with my friends in a 4-bedroom dorm. The room was very nice, we did not have curtains or a tablet on which to put our stuff even though that was mentioned on the website. The localisation is ideal, close to Newmarket and the station and it's very easy to get to the centre by bus (or on foot if you're motivated). We were expecting lockers in the rooms, but as it turned out there were none. We only had baskets to put our stuff in below the beds. That was rather bothering because there was no safe place for our things, however we were only the two of us during the two weeks, so we had no worries. We had a private bathroom that was very clean and were given towels that were regularly changed. For the kitchen, it looks very nice and is regularly cleaned but you see it's a bit old and that does not prevent cockroaches to peek in sometimes. Still, we did not see many and quite rarely but it is rather disgusting seeing one when you're cooking or eating. Lastly, we had to ask to get some utensils, pans or plates as there were none in the kitchen for use. We could keep them in our room during our entire stay and gave them back when we left. The team is very nice, although some do not speak very well English but that was okay. All in all, we were rather pleased staying there in spite of some more annoying details.
