Tunnel Spring Trailhead

Tourist attraction Park Hiking area

👍👍 Went counterclockwise and it's a good thing because it was rocky and steep going up. Nice hike. The views are great. The trail is very narrow! Would do this one again! People often mention trail, hike, steep, loop,

This trail was misleading and I feel bad for those that Google it and plan their day around it before seeing it. I have a newer 4x4 vehicle and my wheels were spinning on the way to the trail to the hike. A lower vehicle would not make it as the trail is worn and rutted in the specific turn I'm talking about. If you can make it to the trail you'll find yourself hiking cliff side uphill for around 2. 5 miles, it changes into different terrains maybe 3 times. The hike to this point is moderate mostly uphill on a edge of a cliff I'm not an expert.... The worst part was the *loop*. You cut down off the trail that was originaly part of the crest. The way down is almost straight down, loose rocks the entire way. One hour up and three hours down just because you're tiptoeing as slow as possible so you don't slip down the cliff on the loose rocks. I would recommend making it to the top and turning around and hiking right back the way you came.

This is a great hike! Did the loop ("Tunnel Springs Loop" on AllTrails) with my dog on a Monday and saw no other people (just one other car in the parking area). I'm glad I took others' recommendations to do it counter-clockwise and to have a high-clearance vehicle for the rutted road to the trailhead (has trashcans & bathrooms). Steep uphill for the first mile, then gentle downhill the rest of the way. No sign markers, so make sure your map is downloaded.

One of my favorite places to go! Quiet, peaceful, and the view is quite mesmerizing.

About a 5 mile loop overall. The Agua trail portion is steep with loose rocks, but it's also shaded/woody. Up to you if you want to do it first or last!

Nice place. Trailhead for both Tunnel Springs and the North Crest Trail. There's a short loop that connects the two on top of the ridge between them. Tunnel Springs is a real shortcut for the Crest Trail. Probably takes a mile off the North Crest hike.

Nice trail, but rocky. Not big boulders but golf/baseball sized stones on almost entire trail. Made for less than perfect hike.

The way up is great, BUT the steep downhill is way more intense than I thought it would be (slippery and steep).

Wonderful trail with great views North, West and South! Some areas are very rocky and recommend taking a right at the loop. Easier to traverse rocky and steep part of trail that goes up thousand feet plus

The gravel road up to the trailhead was rough and rutted in a few spots. My 2WD Chevy made it fine.

Go to the left starting of the trail. Then you get a slight increthen it's all down the hill after that.

Easy drive, but for one steep switchback that's a little tight in a large vehicle.

A good place to start a moderate or strenuous hike. You can do several out and backs light to moderate, a moderate 2 hour loop and if you want the start of North crest trail ( 6 hours ). The road is very rough I would recommend at least high clearance vehicle.
