Slow check in bc no one was at the desk. Homeless people and vagabonds littered throughout the hallways, stair wells, and outside corridors. Very sketchy. Then I get to the room and the AC doesn't work so I got moved to another.... second room had literal strands of hair underneath the blanket and all over the white sheets. I'm talking 10 or more strands of long, scraggly black hair. I was disgusted. I took all the sheets off and slept on the mattress covering. The shower head was caked with lime scale that showed it hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. The whole room had a general dirty feeling. I will never stay here again.

Not only this place is terrible, but the manager will lie to your face and try to scam you out of your money any mean possible. Save yourself some trouble and book another hotel, there are some good ones. You will regret staying at this one.

If I could give it a negative star I would...run from this place asap... unless you want your car or property to be stolen ...Crack hotel.. while not even out of my car a crack head came to look inside the windows of my car... and when asked what he was looking for simply responded "I just was looking inside the car"... mind you it's a gated parking lot with a security guard ...don't stay here if you value your safety

My other half and I had been left in abq back in Nov and stayed off and on at motel 6....he got a job but ended up on the streets for two weeks. His mom on xmas eve paid online for 10 days at motel 6 again. They refused us. So we went next door to desert sands inn and not only was it not an issue the room we were given was clean, smelled clean, had ALL towels and no leaks and everything worked perfectly. We've now been here for three months and never have an issue and the staff have become like family. I'm grateful of them all for all they always do!

Myself and three other individuals (my friends)... We're staying at motel 6 and seeing that desert sands was the same price better quality so we chose to check out and come up here we already made a reservation prior to coming up here ... So my two friends walk in to go and rent the room there tryin to pull up the reservation as soon as myself and my husband walk in all of a sudden they didn't have rooms my husband and I are colored in other words black and he decided to lie and say there was no reservation so I checked out of my old room thinking he was going to be great this desert sands I guess I stand corrected people are really s***** nowadays and it's sad that we have to deal with something like that so just be careful going to the hotel because racism is very real

This place is trash and the staff are terrible. They WILL rob you. The room I stayed in was disgusting. The person living in the room next to me would blast music from 9pm to 3am and the staff would do nothing about it. I had to put an $80 deposit down for the room and was told I would get it back when I check out but they refused to give it back when I checked out. They threatened my life when I demanded my deposit back and then called some guy to escort off the property at gun point. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Checking in was good Angie was extremely helpful, friendly & she has patience and that really is a big deal. My husband & I really are very appreciative that Angie was the one helping us. She's on top of everything we didn't have any problems she made it go smoothly! Our room is big & clean! Our bed is comfortable & it has clean linen! The bathroom is also clean with very white unstained towels! In our room there was a microwave & small fridge. In the fridge I could easily put 2 1 gallon containers, 4 microwave dinners & 1 small pie. In the room there is also a big TV, dresser, 2 side tables, 2 lamps, 1 big table with a lamp it, a big comfy chair that rolls around & 3 trash cans. The parking lot was clean & there wasn't people hanging out that shouldn't be here. Angie made checking very easy & so far I'm on my 2nd night of my 7 day stay & everything has been great! I'd definitely refer family, friends or anybody that's looking for a great place.

Great hotel. It was super affordable and I was blow away by the quality. The room was clean and huge, the bed was comfy, and the service was very friendly. I felt welcomed and completely safe. Would stay here again next time im in town

I have a couple of friends that stay here and I've not heard them complain a whole lot about this place yet so I'm assuming that it's probably better here than most places but I'm not sure cuz I have never stayed there I can only go off of what other people say

Clean room, big beds, friendly staff, no bugs, no drugs. Angie was superbly helpful, friendly and housekeeping was good.

Everything I needed for an affordable overnight cost was provided. Shampoo, soap, and towels were included. No bugs. Parking lot is gated and security was on duty during the night. I would stay again. Staff were helpful.

Very inexpensive. Rooms were clean and were better than other motels the same price. It was a little bit loud outside but that was not a problem for me.

They should give you insect repellant for sleeping in their rooms. I have done multi-day camping trips, in the deep woods, and came away with fewer bug bites than I got sleeping in the room they gave us for 2 nights last weekend. Disgusting.

I wish I could post a pic of my tub. It’s awful. We’re headed out to buy a mat. No way am I standing in this tub. If pics were allowed in reviews, it would solve these kinds of problems. As they say, “A picture is worth a thousand words”.

Called to make a reservation. The first time, they picked up the phone, then hung up without saying anything. The second time they said I may make a reservation, then hung up.

ABQ is a city I would avoid if possible and the Desert Sands Inn is not in a good part of town. Lots of traffic noise and homeless people. As I checked in, a homeless person was being escorted off the property by an armed guard. Saw that same person again later digging through the trash can right outside my door. Very basic hotel, room seemed clean and safe. McD right around the corner opens at 05:00. Being in a big city and for the price, it's probably as good as you might expect.

Front desk service(Angie,Marissa) very good customer service.Chris also took care of us. Housekeepers, Jenn, Nora, good service. Good location for interstate and city transportation. Walking distance to fast food and chain grocery stores, gas station and movie theater.

Angie was so helpful with my stressful situation. She was so nice and friendly! I'm very happy with my stay at Desert Sands- I strongly recommend this hotel vs. the other close by options. The rooms are clean and they look newly renovated. The bed was so comfy. I finally found a bed that doesn't have me waking up with back/body pain!

Needed a last minute stay. Staff was very nice and I slept really well. Didn’t feel the stress others knocked this place for. Would stay again. Good experience for the rate.

This is one of dirtiest rooms I've stayed. We saw hairs. We are not sure they washed things. The bathroom was just disgusting. Person running the front desk was facetiming someone while checking me in. Took about 15 minutes to do so. Would not stay here again

Terrible place! Room was in disrepair, shower plumbing falling out of wall, shower head extremely dirty, electrical outlet in bathroom didn’t work so couldn’t use blow dryer mounted to wall nor plug in anything else in the bathroom; bed had no top sheet or blanket, only a bottom fitted sheet and the decorative hard top cover; website shows breakfast however they do not have breakfast. Edit: We did not extend our stay to a second night. This was our half way point while traveling, so we arrived late at night and checked out at 10am. We notified the front desk about the electrical outlet not working, asked for a loose blow dryer that could be plugged in elsewhere, then waited about 20 minutes before deciding to just leave and not wait any longer.

I was greeted by a welcoming & professional desk clerk/mgs named Angie.. She introduced me to my room & the various amenities. Very nice! Angie continues to check with me to assure I have necessities. Thank you Angie, you are truly an asset to the hotel.

I want to share with you my experiences at the Desert Sands Inn & Suites located in ABQ NM and to give thanks to Spirit for meeting a special caretaker of travelers named Angie Morrison. Miss Morrison's is the night assistant manager who mans the front desk like a field General. Angie knows what ownership wants intuitively but runs things with compassion and a relaxed style that makes you feel respected. A great listener, that is a leadership skill born of a caring heart. If you need something and it's late don't fret. Angie writes thorough reports and guest requests. I couldn't get my bike upstairs and I needed to be transferred to the first floor or my mini fridge was misbehaving. The next day Desert Sands helped me like family and my request were always taken care of in a timely manner. Chris is the main manager who runs a smooth operation and Bill is one of smartest maintenance managers I've ever met. When you visit Albuquerque make a point to stay in the 4 hills district off of Tramway and check into the Desert Sands Inn. It probably will be one of the smartest decisions you'll make. Just let Angie know what you need to make your stay comfortable. You will be pleasantly surprised. Safe travels all, Sincerely, David McBride

Well it has it good amd bads... my first 3 stays were awesome. Last couple of times were kinda bad... this last time was horrible. I got a bed with bebugs

Bad and rude customer service, super dirty rooms, the hotel staff doesn't have any respect to customers they treat us really bad, homeless on the building and parking lot, I DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NOBODY!!🤬😡

The ceiling had some nasty stains, sheets were dirty and had shoe marks. Some odd stench from the sheets. Apart from dirty linen, worst matress and it felt like bed frame is going to fall apart. Check out is at 11 but the house keeping will start knocking on your door at 9. Ridiculous.

10/6/22. This is the single-most disgusting place I've had the displeasure of staying at. It reeked of smoke. Within the room and outside as well. There were cogarrette burn marks on both bed sheets. I was met with 2 dead roaches. On the wall. Like no one had bothered to wipe them from the wall. They were just there. I was met with 2 LIVE roaches. One of the live roaches was on my bed, the other in the bathroom sink. Another thing: my key quit working on tue second day. Like they did not expect me to stay there for a second night, or theh are that incompetent. I came for the balloon festival, and will never set foot in this place again. Do not waste your money and risk bringing roaches with you. This place is not cheap, it is a health hazzard.

Incredibly dirty! We tried serveral rooms, all of them had dark stains (blood?) on the bed Sheets, some of them dog hair and burn holes. Shady creatures roaming around the outside. Absolutely disgusting!

The staff was not friendly and the rooms were disgusting-electrical plates falling off and creating potential danger, cigarette burns in the blankets, brown stains on the bath towels. I also had company I didn’t invite…roaches! I would not recommend this place!

Jay the owner and his staff are awesome and his 24 hour security team work really hard to keep the area clean and guests safe and happy

It's ik only issue with the room was the bathtub looming ugly not sure what happened there other than that everything and the staff was ok

Very nice people the room was exceptionally clean I had a coffee maker I had coffee I had snacks in my room very nice comfortable bed I suggest this place anytime if you're traveling and the price was fair And they are pet friendly
