I'm writing this review after my third appointment here. I have absolutely nothing but positive things to say about the dental residents and hygienists that practice at this clinic! They are professional and will do their best to help you find solutions (if challenges arise) in order to best optimize your oral health. The office staff on the other hand (keeping in mind that they are the public face of the clinic) - well, they make me want to never came back. The positive of this clinic is also a negative, in that it's saturated with residents (highly educated clinicians who are there to get more specialized training), and not enough hygienists. According to the resident that was assigned to me today, there's 9 residents and only 2 hygienists. But yet, each resident is assigned a dental assistant to help them out throughout the day. Can someone please explain to me why I have to come back in March to get my teeth cleaned by the hygienist?

When I called was broken molar; I was told I didn't qualify for dental services. This was because I had Medicaid insurance. I was told they only help people with no insurance! When I called UNM Patient advocacy; they checked it out & said I did qualify! Yet I was told by clinic that I would be committing fraud if I made an application there! I'm 73yrs,disabled & under the poverty level, but I lost that molar; while anyone just coming into our country can get what they need for $15. We'll what about the citizens who paid our taxes ? We paid in & are prevented from getting what we need now. This is ludicrous and I noticed Patient advocacy didn't offer to make them give me an appointment. Sigh.

Just awful. I've set multiple appointments to have a routine oral procedure done, only for the clinic to unexpectedly cancel or resechedule me at the last minute. Disorganized, chaotic, unprofessional. They will tell you one thing and do another. Avoid doing business with this dental clinic at all costs.

Do not go here they do not help you. From the front desk to attendings they are rude and don't listen to your needs. They will take xrays over and over charge you and you still have same issue. I had to go elsewhere to get help.

Between UNM Dentistry and Truman Clinic I was quoted a price for a partial denture. I was told my insurance would be paying for most of it. I figured I would have to pay a small fee out of pocket. My Truman coverage lapsed, unbeknownst to me, even though they were well aware that I would renew! Due to this, I had to pay for the whole thing, because they would not wait until Truman renewed. The billing clerk was rude and unwilling to work with me. I've been going there for the last 4 years. Never had a problem until the last two months when THE DENTIST canceled and rescheduled my procedure to March. I understand things happen, but obviously UNM dental billing doesn't.

I love the novick cleaning school. I was recommended to come to this facility for follow ups. I enjoyed my time there until I had very awkward interactions with my dentist that was fresh out of school. Shaughn McCormick. I felt the conversations and flirting were unprofessional, and I wasn't interested. My cousin Lucinda worked in the same facility so I asked her to let him know I wasn't interested in him. Even if I was mistaken the flirtatious conversations. The next handful of apps I had, he made sure to treat me with disrespect and made sure I was feeling pain. A complete 360 to what I was receiving before even after mentioning that we still could be friends. Gave me PTSD. He never apologized and I dont know how many other women are going to be or already victims. He is in his 30s white man with an attractive face. Beware.

This clinic is the best! My new crowns look amazing. I am so grateful to Dr. Brandon Clayton. He's friendly and compassionate, and does his best to avoid unnecessary work. The front desk customer care is also unbelievably wonderful. Thank you UNM Dental Services (Residency Clinic) for all the great care and new smile. 😃

My husband was seen here today and I just have to say how wonderful everyone was there. He has tons of anxiety but he was made to feel at ease. Natalie was wonderful, Danielle was super patient and understanding, Dr. Hooper was just fantastic all around and made my husband feel at ease. I don't remember our Dental Assistants name, she was a student from CNM; she was wonderful as well. Again, I want to thank them all for everything they do and everything they did for my husband in his time of need.

This clinic is very nice. The doctors are very courteous. The staff are very professional but , aren’t people oriented. So what you may have to wait a little but it's not all the time. Tell me a office that you walk right in every time? Keep up the good work. The environment and bathroom is clean that was a plus for me. I went in with terrible anxiety. I had to edit my review . You have to watch the people at check out. They will charge you what the insurance should be paying them. If you don't pay attention you will be major screwed. We almost paid the wrong amount. This didn’t go over well with my husband. Just go over your bill line by line and ask questions.

This place should be condemned office nurse was a phyco came and took the chairs my kids were sitting in that other staff provided for them. She told them that was for staff only and put them on the floor! And then yelled at my kids for having chips. After all that dentist would not answer my questions about my replacement cap. Was it covered or not ? He wanted to another exam when you can clearly see my cap has fallen off. Hateful and plain dumb dentistry. Run from this place unless you like abuse its a waste of time and money to come here

I don't like when they call me to tell me about my appointments and they don't explain anything to me about my appointments or anything like that and they don't speak to me nicely but very rude and hateful and they should explain my appointments correctly and don't mubble and I don't understand what they are so they need to be more explanatory and don't act so dumb and they need to replace everyone at the reception desk and get some people that can talk to me directly and don't mubble

I'm was aware that this is a UNM facility and the dentists are still fairly new, yet I tried to stay hopeful. Every time I came here I was more and more frustrated. This last time I was told I needed to schedule an appointment within the next few weeks and then told me they didn't have availability until FEBRUARY. I will be finishing my dental work elsewhere, don't come here unless you have infinite patience.

I am an international student at UNM, this is sad to say but this is the truth. I called for appointment in May and got my first appointment in August, they said my insurance covers everything (I have UNM graduate insurance). ! week before my appointment they called and said they have to cancel my appointment cause they are short staffed and changed my appointment to Oct. 1 week proor to my appointment they called and said I dont have any insurance so the consultation fee will be ~300$, I was suprised as cause they initially said my insurance covers dental also, but it was false information. I was still ready to do it but 3 days prior to my appointment, I got a call from them saying my appointment is wrongly overlapped with some other's so they have to cancel mine and the next available appointment is in Feb. Honestly I feel like I can go to my country get treated by an elite (not a <3 star place) doctor and fly back. All of this will save me more than 50% of money and most importantly 1000% time getting it treated before it's untreatable

I am a student at UNM and all my teeth are going bad. I don’t understand how they keep making me wait in pain and expect me to pay as a full time student at that. Don’t they have tax write offs for people who are poor with no teeth to get out of pain and suffering. I keep calling and getting nothing. They want to deep clean what’s left of the bottom and. what little insurance I have don’t cover that. They won’t realign a plate. They won’t put snap holders in and just pull them all. I have to be in front of people in pain and very very low self confidence. Thanks a lot for nothing.
