The trail kept going but I made some good distance in. Lots of brush against your legs so pants are advised. Not too rough, ran into a couple spots where I wasn't sure where the trail was/supposed to go but maps help. Cool area and not busy at all.

Check out this place if you don't have much time and see the entire Albuquerque. Easy access from the parking lot to the viewpoint. Also, you can go for a long 7 Mile hike as well. Highly recommended!

Ok..there are zero trail makers other than merciful carions here and there. The forest service has a pitiful zero-presence up here. Having said that, it's still a wonderful hike. Made it all the way to Three Gun Springs in about 2 1/2 hours screwing around and 1 hour 15 minutes back down. There IS a challenging climb right around the very old rock dam but it's doable. Ran into several skittish introverts on trail (hahaha) but shout out to the young lady from Washington state who was the coolest trail buddy for the last 1/2 mile down! Ya'll go!

This trail head is mainly for mountain bikes but there are walking trails. I do like the way the trails seem to wander through the landscape of cactī and various plant life. This trail doesn't have picnic tables and shade is scarce so you may want sunscreen and a hot. Don't forget the water. Check it out.

This is my favorite trailhead, that being said it can get quite busy. I have seen the parking lot completely full many times. However once you are on the trail and past the dam, there are not very many people. I have seen lots of wildlife here and some beautiful plants and flowers. The directions to travel are endless and we usually start our south peak hike here as well. The dam is a fun place to watch the sunset and get some exercise too.

I parked in mostly full parking lot at 730 to hike to three gun spring trail. Easy wide trail for first mile that enters canyon. Some scrambling in short canyon. Great views at the2 mile mark that starts a steep serpentine. 1700' 3.3 miles

Good spor for hiking. Even though the parking lot was full there are lots of trails and it's easy to keep your space. I hiked up the horse bypass trail for a total of about 3 miles from parking lot and found it to be good for some cardio and pushed enough to get some sweat too.

One of my favorite hikes. It is tough at the end (for a casual, in shape ish, weekend hiker) but SO worth it! When you go through the canyon of rocks, stay to the left!

One of many put in spots for hiking along the foothills. My favorite route is to head east until the trail starts to window out. Them head south, follow the various trails on a meandering loop back to main trail and you've done 3-5 miles. It's starting to get hot, so go early and bring water. And yes, dogs are welcome.

This is among the best in the city. Short hikes, long hikes, easy walking trails, rough walking trails, pictures, or views. This one has it all! Pretty good parking, but this place can get busy. If you want to pick a guaranteed good spot, this is a great choice!

This is a solid hike. I did 3 miles up for 6 total miles. First mile was sandy through the gully, 2nd mile was climbing rocks and scampering through a prairie desert environment, third mile was zig zagging up a hill for an incredible view. I would do this hike again!

Great trail with some excellent views. However, it's easy to wander off the beaten path as the trail isn't marked too well. I would suggest bringing a map app of some kind to avoid getting lost in the woods. Also, as you can see in these photos, if you go far up the mountain, it gets much colder and you can see much more snow. Be safe and bring a good pair of hiking shoes so you don't lose your footing.
