Had friends from out of town visiting who tried to dine here on Sunday (Mother's Day) morning. They ordered simple breakfast burritos and waited over an hour. Over an hour. They asked if it was some subtle racial passive agressor thing as the diner wasn't busy. I assured them ABQ is very diverse and that probably wasn't the reason, but damn... 80 mins later and I had to wonder, too... Food finally arrived cold AND incorrect. One ordered steak and eggs, but was served ground beef, no eggs and cold. The other had eggs but also cold. Obviously the errors were not discovered until after a bite. When the server was informed, she only offered that they were short staffed with the manager on the grill. My guests were appalled at the service, the refusal to make things right, not even a lousy 10% off their bill but threats if they didn't pay up - the full price. Hey, if you're short staffed that's on you, not on your dining guests! I am mortified after talking up ABQ restaurants. This is not how service should be anywhere, let alone here. I'm not one for posting bad reviews lightly, but wow - this entire experience was inexcusable.

This place was Frank’s in the 1950’s... Hurricanes has kept the decor and the drive-in part... but I went on to enjoy the atmosphere. Super friendly staff, although I really didn’t give them a whole lot of time to be too friendly as I was in and out in about 15 minutes! The food was great! And the price? Well they could double their prices and people would still visit their establishment. My huge breakfast burrito smothered in green Chile with a Dr. Pepper as my morning coffee was $6. What? I’ll definitely be back here!

Although I had not been here in a long time, the food was as good as I remember it. People were friendly and quick. Bottom line. If you want to enjoy good service and delicious food Hurricanes is your place for breakfast and lunch. If you come here don't forget to try there shake's. Hope you enjoy ground beef steak and eggs, yum.

Had 2 egg breakfast at 2:30 pm . 8/4/2022 with sausage. Sausage was a C- .a little over salty,. And flavorless.. too bad they can’t feature a ‘house blend ‘ or even jimmy dean sausage. Run a trial for a month bet u will increase breakfast sales . It’s a simple change. And a simple breakfast to prepare . ?

Been going to this place for many many many years and have only been disappointed once. I was foolish to order chicken fried steak in New Mexico but the waitress insisted that I could get something else. My half breakfast disaster burrito was amazing as always, I learned my lesson not to try something new haha 😂

You’re guaranteed EXCELLENT service. Rick has been there since 1997 and still delivers friendly, fast, and helpful service. It says a lot about a place to keep an employee for such a long time. The iced tea is freshly brewed. The servings are huge. I hadn’t been to Hurricane’s in almost 15 years. It was a place I used to frequent for their Disaster Burritos. There were other locations but I believe this is the only one that still stands. It was awesome to have a delicious breakfast before a flight back to Chicago. I can’t get enough of New Mexican cuisine when I visit Albuquerque. The only reason I didn’t give five stars for the food is the green Chile wasn’t hot enough. Perhaps I should have chosen Christmas 🌶️. The return felt like visiting an old friend. Perhaps because Rick has been a constant, dependable fixture.

The staff is super friendly and helpful, even when they were stretched thin. I have only visited twice, and both times, I ordered the disaster burrito. While it is very filling, it is a little bland and hopes the heat will make up for it. I love visiting when I'm back home, but next time, I'm trying a different meal on the menu

The food was fresh, the staff was very friendly, and they were pretty quick with my order. Definitely going back to try other items in the future.

This was my first time here. I took my mom for her birthday brunch and the food was scrumptious. For a place that seems like it is super busy and isn't popping it should be. Because the severs along with the cooks are doing an exceptional job.

We had a somewhat large party of 9 and showed up 30 minutes before close. The customer service was beyond amazing. They were kind and even brought out fries for the 4 little ones with us, so they didn't get cranky. I'm sorry I didn't get anyone's names, but they had every right to be cold to us or upset, but their kindness and great attitudes were beyond impressive and appreciated. It was my first time here, and I will make every effort to go when I am in town from now on. Food was great too! LOL

Just spoke with a manager, a MANAGER who I let know that the rice was hard and not cooked for serving and I had been throwing up for 30 minutes after immediately having their Oreo shake and all I got was a “I’m sorry” and “yes I know about the rice, it was sent to us like that” I threw up my food and anything else that was on my stomach and they get to keep my money?!? Horrible customer service and I will never eat here or recommended this place ever again!!

Amazing diner vibes with solid New Mexican food. This place has been around for decades serving excellent food and service. Huevos Rancheros were amazing. The Chile wasn’t spicy but it was still excellent. Our group got burritos which were solid as well.

This is a traditional diner and it serves all of the classics here. You can get a very good burrito here. Be careful....a 1/4 burrito is a very good portion. You can't finish a whole one.

I was excited to try this place but unfortunately, I was let down. This place has an antiquated, drive up diner look. Pretty cool. We ordered two breakfast burritos-one sausage and one bacon ($15). They were so bland. The green and red chile had absolutely no flavor or spice. The tortillas were awful and the bacon strips were chewy. Chopped bacon with some crunch would have been a much better texture. Eggs seemed fresh and the potatoes were just okay. I wish I could say that I will be back to try something else but I am not so sure about that. 3 stars for being a local establishment with quick, friendly service.

I was super excited about finding this place and it was not delicious. Waitresses were hard working and friendly though..... Unfortunately, food taste days old. Had a steak burrito, egg burrito and green chili cheese fries and did not even take a second bite after trying the first and immediately tossed in their dumpster. Sorry Cafe....

Good food but I should have gotten the taco burgers. The grilled chicken green chili sandwich was good but the chicken was tough and stringy

If you're in the area, or not, this place is worth a shot. Reasonable prices, good food, great people. And real 50's decor to boot. Giant serving sizes to top it off.

Went from a 5 to 4 reason being, inconsistency. I was so in love with the food brought my family, not so good that day. Great food I've eaten at a restaurant! All home made!!! (if it's not they fooled me.) Best food representing New Mexico. I spent the same as a fast food place, needless to say prices are a steal. Wait staff was friendly, we even caught that when they were resting they were smiling.

It’s awesome, 50s style diner with old style speakers, and also has indoor dining. Food is great and the service is perfect.

It was OK I got a lot of heart burn but it was worth it because the ham, cheese, egg and green chile Burrito was delicious. At first the person that answered at the dive up speaker seemed kind of rude but she made it up at the end she just thought I was a regular but it was my first time there so she explained the menu to me. Definitely would recommend this place to family and friends. Just remember to take your heart burn pills lol!

Such a lovely classic diner. Music is perfect and at just the right volume, AC is cool, inside is beautiful, and service is friendly. When I visited there was a sign on the door saying they would be closing after Memorial Day and that's truly a shame - plenty of regulars came in while I had breakfast, you can tell this diner is an integral part of the neighborhood.
