Let me tell you that we travelled nearly 100kms just to have the Gnocchi again at The Grant Street Grocer within a week. While the menu didn't have Gnocchi the second time around, which disappointed some of us, but I was content to order the noodles again. Well, I guess that now I don't really have to say much about the quality of food here. Although, I wish the quantity was a little bit more. Grant St. Grocer has much more than the food. They sell grocery items and ready made meals. The vibe is amazing and sitting outside is great because of the fresh air and the surroundings.

Stayed in Alexandra over night from Melbourne. Got a coffee in the morning on my way back to Melbourne. I assumed that this cafe would have average coffee, as normally is the case in most country towns. Coming from Melbourne where the coffee is amazing, I can honestly say that the coffee from here was one of the best I’ve had. Smooth and the flavour was perfect. To go with that, the girl that served me was so bubbly and friendly. Highly recommended.

Check the price. Place is nice, coffee good, but I ordered an egg and bacon roll, a cheese and tomato toastie and 2 coffees and it came to $39.90! No complaints about the food and drink apart from it not being value for money. My toastie was small with no garnish or sides (except a tiny bit of cress - 1 piece) and after travelling 3 days in the region it was by far the worst value for money I’ve seen in a long time!

Awesome place for brunch on our way back to Melbourne from ski trip. Quality of the food was excellent and the soy milk latte perfect ( am very fussy). Highly recommended.

Out of town customers on business, came in for breakfast ordered coffee and bacon and egg rolls asked to be seated at a table, our name got called out for the food and have been told we can't sit and eat at the Cafe we have to find elsewhere to enjoy our meals mind you quater of the Cafe had people sitting at a table. Disgusting because I'm not a local I get treated differently.

Very limited menu choice, about 7-8 dishes you can choose from for breakfast and lunch menu, food quality is ok but very overpriced. Service is the worst part of the experience as the older lady in pink glasses who takes orders is very rude and unhelpful, you feel like you are constantly getting judged for your food choices, she holds some kind of superiority over you like she’s from Toorak and you are just a peasant, definitely agree with previous comments that they need better customer service training, I would not recommend this place, would give negative stars if I could.

Make sure to drop by, Amazing place to grab a bite, serve breakfast and lunch. Love the food and really tasty. Everything local made and local produced. Bread making in-house really tasty and crunchy.. yum. Friendly staff and environment. Very casual and boutique style. Clean ++. Pickup the menu and order at the counter. Enjoy!

I never normally leave reviews, but the roasted tomatoes was one of best breakfasts I’ve ever had and deserves 5 stars! And that’s compared to many coveted Melbourne brunch spots. Will definitely be back next time we are in town!

Perfect family cafe: great coffee, well-priced delicious food and lovely atmosphere! Highly recommend Veggie roll for a delicious, well-priced breaky. Kids loved it too. Bonus: great selection of items for purchase (love the pasta and passata sauce). Thanks for having us.

We drove over 100km round trip for a birthday lunch based on the online menu. The menu version we received was a pared back version with a number of items missing and several others amended but not updated online. The quality of food was good. I had the special for the day, a chicken and leek pie, which was huge, clearly made on the premises and very nice. The smashed avo was good, served on artisan sourdough, thick cut. Honestly, though, if the online menu had been available, as published, we would have ordered other options, perhaps more appropriate for a birthday celebration. As a suggestion, maybe only those menu items that are continuous should be shown online, with a note that other special items may be available - call for details.

Very pleasant lunch with three friends. We were serve by a sweet happy little waitress and we’re all delighted with our food. I had the soup which was delicious. Glad to see Grant Street Grocer is open until 4.30pm, so many country cafes close early.

The Yea Open Gardens Weekend drew our Citroën car club members to reside in Alexandra for the weekend. We found the best of everything here. Our group had a Sunday morning breakfast at the Grant St Grocer, and everyone raved. A fabulous environment, atmosphere, menu, coffees and friendly thorough service. We would like to thank the owners and staff for a memorable experience we all enjoyed. Mutterings are 'we shall return'. Came home with some fabulous homemade packed curries also, they were an absolute taste treat too. So much going for this place! A must do in Alexandra!
