The castle was founded by the lords of Heimerzheim at the latest in the middle of the 13th century . The chivalrous sex had in his possession when the castle through the sale of Knight Wennemar from Heimerzheim to the to the year 1324 Teutonic Knights seat of a Coming was. In the following centuries it changed its noble owners several times until it finally came into the possession of the family of the Cologne minister, Count Caspar Anton von Belderbusch , in the 18th century . Through the marriage of Josephine von Belderbusch with her cousin Baron Karl von Boeselager, Heimerzheim and the neighboring Schillingscapellen monastery are still in the possession of the Boeselager family , originally from the Magdeburger Börde.

Beautiful space and grounds. The rooms were not wheelchair accessible at all. Minimum two steps to get in at least. The operation is a bit bare bones. No air conditioning in the room we were in. And the staff seemed aloof.

For people who, like I do, like medieval flair, a quiet location, good service, and a certain recreational simplicity, Burg Heimerzheim is a good place to stay.

Excellent place with lovely staff. Me and the wife had an amazing time in this 13th century Castle. Highly recommended.

Tolle Location!

We arrived quite late ( around 22:00) and were able to check-in through the machine. Our key got stuck inside the machine and we had to call the reception, took about 10 minutes until we got helped out. We had the junior suit, it was fine but nothing special. The rooms can be quite noisy ( hearing the neighbours go to the bathroom and such) and to make it all worse… we were woken up at 7:15 by the water pump filling the surrounding.

This is a stunning, very well maintained location. Great place for events, especially wedding. I attended a wedding there myself. Staff were friendly, guests were taken care of and the program ran almost flawlessly. Difficult to reach with public transport from Bonn or Köln. A shuttle service might be a good idea, otherwise a taxi is recommended. Parking is available. Can't comment on accommodation, as I stayed in a local hotel.
