There are two ways to get the cave. From the land and then get hundreds of stairs. But if you take this way you should book the entrance to the cave firstly on the website. From the sea. You just buy the ticket in Alghero and every hour there is a boat that get you there. By the boat the trip lasts about 40 min. Then you wait in a line to the ticket point get the ticket and just come in to the cave. Prices: the boat about 16 euros per adult the cave about 14 per adult. The cave is really beautiful and I think worth seeing. The tour lasts about 40 min and then you get the same boat.

It is a spectacular place, very beautiful. It is clearly a must-see location if you arrive in Alghero. The prices are not exaggerated compared to what they offer. Pleasant visit.

When staying in the northern part of Sardinia, I definitely recommend You visiti this place. We can get there by water or by car. I chose the land route. Getting there is simple. Parking shouldn't be a problem. Next to the entrance there is a small cafe where we can eat something and have coffee. After buying the ticket at the ticket office (possibility to pay by card), we will enter a beautiful, scenic road at a certain time. To reach the grotto we have 35 minutes, but the route itself lasts 15 minutes without a break. At the destination, we join the other part of the visitors who came by boat. The tour lasts an hour. We enter only with a guide and follow the designated routes. The guide speaks in many languages. What you see inside you will remember for the rest of your life. Really worth. On the way back, we can come back as much as we want. I recommend taking water, a hat, glasses and comfortable shoes (sneakers are enough).

A bit of a disappointment, to be honest. I entered the cave from the land and had to go down and then up 600 stairs. And that was definitely the highlight of the visit - the path is demanding but definitely rewarding with absolutely amazing views of the cliffs, the sea and the stairs themselves. Then I arrived at the cave which was absolutely crowded. In September the place was full with people who arrived both from the land and from the sea. As hundreds of people enter from the land, at the same time ships containing more people dock by the cave so the crowds mix together. The cave itself is truly beautiful but it's hard to admire it as hundreds of people are let inside at the same time (I think it can contain up to 200 people) and they all have to take the same narrow path which ends with a dead-end, meaning all these people have to leave the same way the entered. This leads to frequent congestions on the path and makes the visit more like standing in a supermarket queue than a tour through a cave. Also - the guide was supposed to describe the cave in both Italian and English. He seemed to had forgotten about the English part, though. We couldn't even ask about it as the guide was in the front of a 100 people long queue. In summary - the views are great but the experience is rather disappointing and irritating.

Beautiful place but for one time. Second time you probably won't go there. When you are going to cave, take a water with you, 'cause it is more than 500 steps down and later the same amount of steps up 😉 Of course it is a possibility to go there by boat, but theese 500+ steps is already an experience!!! 😁

The grotte itself is an awesome place, it's followed by 600 steps down the cliff, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. However the tour guide was a let down. The whole tour in the cave was only 15 mins long, the guide would explain stuff in Italian and then just throw in a couple of sentences in English, so we didn't feel like we learned much (or maybe it's time to learn Italian!).

Get ready for a few steps on the way up. Caves are beautiful and beautifully preserved. A bit tricky to buy tickets online, as you only receive a reservation, but you still have to go there and queue 40 mins before the next turn. You can only access the caves via guided tour, starting at every hour.

The view is fantastic! But it is not the unique plus: the visit is very interesting, even if the way up on the staircase is really hard, you can “feel” every single step (above all the last 100). Nevertheless, the effort is worth it. The cave is unique in the world, you can’t miss it if you’re near here. The boat trip (if see weather conditions allow the trip) is a valid alternative to the staircase. Remember to book your visit in advance on the website.

It’s a very awesome place. Very nice view. 645 stairs downstairs and upstairs. Appointment booking and ticket purchase is necessary. There is a snack bar so you can eat and drink.

Certainly among the most beautiful sea water caves that can be visited, it is unfortunate that the staff is not very knowledgeable about the actual site and can tell very little beyond Wikipedia knowledge. I was there yesterday, beginning of March, in a group of 20, and the guide already seemed to annoyed about 1st year speleology questions and confused about what she was telling to whom in Italian, French, and English. The tour is about 30min and takes up to 100 people in high season (250k visits per year), so unless you need a break from the heat and you're into light tourist entertainment, this might not be the most memorable destination for you to visit.

We wanted visit cave in Thursday, due to Google it should be open and the tour should be every hour. We came here and the tour guide said us its closed, because the weather wasnt good for Visit cave. Cave is located on the sea level and in windy weather the waves can be 5 meters high, so it is not possible enter to cave. It was really disapoiting, but the tour guide recommended us view Near cave. It is about 10-15 minutes tour and you have Nice view to the sea.

Pretty cool cave. Takes about 30 minutes to walk through Nd you have to walk in a line so you don't really have time to stop and take photos (luckily we were at the back). There is a tiny desk to buy tickets but they drop off a large amount of people so you are packed like sardines for the first 10 minutes as people buy tickets and start going through. It is also slippy and uneven floor (as it's a cave) and as you are packed so tightly you easily slip and trip. They need to let people in, in groups to prevent this rather than the whole boat etc. The cave itself is pretty good and has an English translation talking through speakers as you go through with information which was helpful.

Super pretty! We've really enjoyed our trip to the grotto, it was well organized and worth it's price. Tour guide spoke clearly both in Italian and English so we could understand everything! I highly recommend going by boat during the season, it's a nice, memorable trip :)

Great place but oh so many steps to climb.. 650 each way, take your time! Or you can catch a boat from the port at Alghera , no sweat that way and a wee boat trip to boot!

Very impressive cave, definitely worth a visit! Lovely tour with a very friendly tour guide with great English and a very comprehensive knowledge of the cave itself. Be warned, there are many steps down from the entrance gate to the entrance of the cave and you must return up the steps after your visit in the cave. I counted about 500 steps. Amazing views, worth the effort. Only 14 euro per person (adult). Definitely worth a visit!

I do not have any words... Absolutely amazing, breath-taking sceneries! Althought the way down and up is very hard it really worth. Beautiful cave, lovely views and very kind stuff! :-)

I visited the cave in the summer of 2021. It was quite crowded and I definitely would recommend buying tickets in advance. The parking area could be quite tight, have that in mind. There are two ways of entering the cave - on foot (steep staircase) or by boat. Beautiful!

This was an amazing experience! We decided to take a boat instead of using the steep pathway from the clifftop. The boat isn't expensive and the ride over and back is beautiful all by itself. The boat staff were pleasant and helpful. Yes, it is crowded. Yes, there are tight spaces. You buy the boat tickets, and when you arrive, you buy the entrance tickets. The staff at the grotto were very kind and patient despite assisting thousands of people all day. Paying by card is easy. The views are stunning and absolutely worth it.

Great place to visit even with a kid in kangaroo on your chest and sun above. 15min goin down with photos and same going back (not considering visiting 'the grotte' itself. There should be a lower limit of entries per hour as there is a long snake inside and the guide needs to say 'front part sees this, people in the end see that'. Nice low temp inside :) beautiful sights. Oh and reminder be there much earier to find a car place along the road

Wow! A beautiful piece of nature. The cave can be reached by boat or on foot. We went on foot. You have to go down and then go up the stairs, be careful, it's very challenging. It can be dangerous. The reward is a beautiful cave with stalactites.

This place was a bit of a mission to get to but well worth the mission. We went late in the evening, in summer, the last people to be able to be enter. A but before 6. We booked online and then you have to check in. Then we raced down the stairs. You definitely need good running shoes! The views on the way are amazing.

Impressive cave and views from the stairs of the oceans and rock formations. Going back up the stairs is a bit of a climb. But don't worry, there are some spots to stand still and rest. The guide inside the cave was hard to understand. The parking spots near the entrance were very insufficient so make sure you're on time to hike up the driveway after you park the car alongside it.

Wonderful trip from a boat company for $16. Took 45 minutes to arrive and then you pay another $14 to take the guided tour, about 40 minutes. Awesome caves inside. Not a bad time to spend 2 1/2 hours. Go between 1-5, it’s slower.

An interesting trek, down the steps and along the track across the cliff face to get to the grotto ( and a testing return journey!) but well worth the effort. There's also a separate boat tour option if u dont fancy the steps. The grotto is amazing, takes around 20 mins to do the tour, but WOW!

I absolutely loved this! We were here end of April when the weather was perfect and the crowds were low. Nice little guided tour once you are in the cave. Percent amount of time to see , take photos and learn some facts! Unless you take a boat from the mainland you MUST go down-and then back up 654 stairs! Wear proper footwear - lots of uneven and slippery surfaces

Great cave! From the land you have to go by 640 steps but in my opinion it is worthy! Inside the cave you can look many beautyfull stones structure. Very small parking, you have to look park place along road. It is better to book your visit earlier by webside.

It was an incredible tour with amazing views! The cave it self, was super cool, and filled with exciting parts. After the heat and the stairs, it was nice to feel the comforting cool temperature in the cave. Very good. And the staff was very nice and had alot of drinks and chips for sale, which were very refreshing.

It is really worth to go down through over 600 steps to see this nature phenomenon. Views are breathtaking. I recommend buying tickets and making a reservation online.
