No frills. An honest casual filling meal with prices and flavors that stay true from when I first ate here 30 years ago. Prices are fair and portions are hearty that I drive an hour to eat here. There's too many gimmicky food places now and I find myself easily picking this place for their BBQ meats and comfort foods. If you want your fancy service and dressed up plating etc, please go eat somewhere else and leave this place be. Some of else don't mind the cozy atmosphere with mostly Cantonese speaking staff, the mahjong tile clock, and unfaultable service.

Delicious Chinese food with generous portion! I hope they maintain the standard both quantity and quality. Kung Pao chicken was good. Just the right flavor. Mapo Tofu somehow didn’t taste like it. It’s good but just not the typical Mapo Tofu I had from other Sichuan restaurants. Packaging for to-go was not the best for my Kung Pao. It self-destroyed when I arrived at home.

Freshly made to order and served within minutes. The aroma and the look of each dish made the food even more delicious. They were out of a lot of items but the meal was still wonderful.

Food was awesome like always . Willing to drive 90 miles one way just to eat there. Jimmy was our server. He was very attentive and provided great service. Always a pleasure to have lunch or dinner there . I wish they were closer .

This is a tiny cash only Chinese barbeque restaurant. My family was craving for roast duck but the skin was not crispy. The congee with duck was ok. The chicken/pork barbeque with noodle soup tasted off, like it was old. The pork barbecue was the only satisfying dish.

Very average. Inexpensive. Old and warn out everything. Dirty utensils and sauces on the tables were sticky. Ordered beef and wonton soup, had 2 slurps and threw rest back into bowl. Salt porkchops were undercooked. Bbq pork and steamed chicken on bed of rice were cold. My apologies to the homeless guy we gave our leftovers to. 1st and last visit.

I ordered the roast duck over rice and my girlfriend had the wonton noodle soup with roast duck. This place is CASH ONLY, but outside from that the portions were generous and the food was quite good, especially for the price. I spent maybe $35 here for the TWO of us after tip. Don't expect good service or anything. Had to ask for waters, never refilled or checked in, but you can't expect too much at this $.

I have been coming here for years since I was a child because the food is good but this recent visit was something else. My brother and I calculated the check and turns out the waiter was trying to over charge us $10, so we left the exact amount and a tip, then she comes running after us saying we owe her and we tell her to do the math and she realized that she indeed over charged us then she said “only two dollar tip, I want more tip. Give me more tip”. Honestly, very unprofessional because first she tries to over charge us then she demands a higher tip. Not sure if I want to come back after that. I’ve noticed this is a trend in many Chinese restaurants where the waiter demands a higher tip even though the service is very mediocre.

What a terrific find in the San Fernando Valley! Hong Kong style eatery, you know it's authentic when with the exception of me , the entire place was frequented by Asian customers. I had a 2 item BBQ plate,, Roast duck and Spareribs ($15.95) side of sticky rice (1.50) and a soda , they even have hot mustard! If you look at the picture I attached, it's enough for me to have 2 meals. The duck skin with the mustard hot chili oil and a splash of soy and the rice was truly the most delicious part of my lunch. Do your self a service, go to this place! P.S. they have a service deli if you are in a hurry with all your favorites to go in a hurry!

We love this place. The place is kind of small, but the quality of food is amazing. Don't forget to try roasted duck, barbecue pork, barbecue chicken liver and gizzards, salty cripsy chicken and pork ear/intestine. I prefer roasted duck in this place is better than the place at Walnut Grove street.

I have to say I've been coming to this restaurant for about 20 years. Normally the service is pretty good but this last time the waiter was hard to understand. I wasn't able to get him to understand what I wanted and so I didn't get what I wanted to order. It could have been partially his age and partially his mask. In any case I have now started to go to the other place on Las Tunas in Temple City. Better parking, younger staff. Same good food. Oh, one other thing. Gone are the days when Chinese food was inexpensive.

Love their rice plates. Classic Chinese BBQ from the roast duck, to the roast pork. Love the roast duck, duck heads and BBQ pork. Always so good and hits the spot every time.

I love this place, it may be a small little restaurant but the food is amazing, Sam woo has been around over 40 years with many locations, if your ever in the neighborhood you definitely must eat here, you will be looking forward to coming back as soon a you walk out that door. God bless

This is the original Sam Woo as far as I know. Each Sam Woo has different quality and this one is the reference standard. Their signature dishes are their BBQ, especially the soy sauce chicken. The beef stew and tendon is second to none. But their best value meal is their breakfast special.

Went to this restaurant yesterday around 6pm. The waiter that took my order said to pay after I received my order. Next thing I know they tell me cash only and I have to use their atm. My order was around $17. Their atm machine charged $2.69 for fees to withdraw $20 and today I was balancing my checking account and there was a $2.50 charge for that same withdrawal, which means I paid an additional $5.19 for the food I ordered. Being my first time there, I saw no sign warning that it was cash only and to make matters worse the fish had a off taste, not fresh. Called 2 speak to the mgr, was told no mgr there.

As a child going out to this restaurant with my family was a treat. Although they’ve cleaned up the place, their food thankfully is just as I remember. As you walk in the first thing that hits you is the smell of great cuisine. After that you are met with the sight of roasted ducks hanging prominently on display. On the right hand side is for those who are in a hurry and know what they’re ordering to go and for phone orders. The have quite the selection menu-wise. Now for those that are going to dine-in. They have a seating for up to 7 or 8 as a family also have other seating options as well. The waiters are very helpful and attentive to their customers and very courteous. if anything is wrong with your order or it’s not to your liking they will make things right. Which is why I always enjoy coming back here. They have not changed and their service is excellent it’s definitely worth the trip. Try their wonton soup. the bbq pork fried rice is the best. The bbq pork and bbq duck are exquisite.

Busy, with poor lady answering phones, taking counter orders, being cashier and packing orders. Duck was decent, as was roast pork, but curry brisket was oddly lacking curry flavor. Stick mainly to bbq stuff as that seems to be what they do best.

Looking for cheap authentic Chinese food? This is the place. Delicious BBQ pork and roast duck. The food is just as good as any Hong Kong Street stall food. Service is good . You will get what you need but the waiters are not going to come around every 5 mins to see if you need anything else. Just order ,enjoy the food , pay your bill.

We are not from around here but my father and I will make an effort to come to this Sam Woo BBQ restaurant once a month. If you come before 11:30am, they have great deals on early luncheon menu. Highly recommend this establishment because the food is so inexpensive and delicious! Fact is, it's much cheaper than going to MacDs!

They have good roast duck, roast pork belly & barbeque porks. For lunch time, they have lunch specials as well.
