One of my favourite spots in Aliwal! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and premises are clean and neat! It's so relaxing with the beautiful view of the Orange River. I would definitely recommend the Wagyu burgers. It's mouth-watering delicious! I always enjoy a visit to the Riverside Lodge. It's like a mini holiday experience for a few hours. My kids love the pizzas and the playground! Thank you Riverside team. 😀

Stopped for a quick meal while travelling through. The food was a bit overpriced for it's mediocrity, but the service was friendly, the grass is lush and green with a little kids play area (screaming kids). The view is great and possibly the best place to enjoy a good meal and experience of the Orange river.

Ideally positioned just over the old bridge as you enter the town from the Clarens side. Great views over the Orange River from the restaurant deck. Nice gardens with a kids play area. Staff were all friendly and helpful, rooms were clean neat and comfortable. Quite a few other bikers were staying over, safe off-street parking directly outside your units.

Rustic, old world and charming appearance. On the banks of the mighty Orange river, I stopped in Aliwal North merely as a break whilst driving to return to Johannesburg. I had a light meal and found great service, good food and good rest. I certainly would like to return!

Riverside Lodge! Fantastic establishment. Always going above and beyond. The Wagyu burgers is next level. A must have if you haven’t tried it yet. Their pizzas is always a hit with the family. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Riverside Lodge.

Friendly service and a great location. Breakfast was awesome too. Room was fair, but shower head was broken and mattresses not very comfortable either. Unfortunately the parking is not adequate, and even more so by people that can't park, or are just plain selfish as per pic. Then there was a noisy bunch of residents as well. So if you need a good night's sleep, avoid this place.

Basic accommodation - convenient stop over if you’re travelling. Has everything you need. Parking is tight. The Wagyu burgers at the pub are the best you’ll ever have.

Friendly staff.Parking space is a big issue. Smokers’ smoke on top level is terrible if you sleep in the ground level rooms. River view is awesome- a hiking route here will be fabulous!

Reasonable coffee when you're desperate - best to go get Vida è Café rather... The food on the other hand is really good!

Overpriced for what you get. Wifi did not work. Breakfast was nowhere. Staff try their best. The restaurant on site is a 2 star at best.

Four years back my girlfriend and I celebrated her birthday at the Lodge. We had warm welcoming from the staff. They were all incredibly helpful and generous with their time and recommendations. Nestled on the banks of Orange River, Aliwal North.The Lodge offered the finest food that tickled my pallet simultaneously taking in a mind refreshing view from the magnificent deck which overhangs the river. Amenities like the pool area not to mention a few just added the cherry on top.

Bugers are really worth it, menu very small, but food is great.service is self service, bar service was great! Its on the river side, very peaceful.. Hotel was not there but looks nice

Event hough we are on our Honeymoon we didn't have a good experience at Riverside. Our booking made it clear we will have a garden view, we did not, we had a view of the roof. Our TV was not working. I phoned reception for help and a Security Guard was sent to help us... one of our bed side lights didn't work, the front door lock was not working, even the Security Guard couldn't help. We were given another unit with a working TV. That was nice of them I think... Walking out on the veranda for a smoke I tripped over a nail holding the Carpet. Gladly I had my shoes on, that nail would have torn in to my foot if I was bare foot. The front door couldn't stay closed except if you lock it and a table was broken. On booking the room I was not notified that Riverside Lodge is in the process of replacing roofs. There were tools, equipment ect. all over the place which limited our movement on the premises. The manager didn't even make an effort to discuss the conditions or at least apologize for moving us to another room at night with no one of Riverside Lodge staff offering to help.

Not happy at all. They will never see me again. I asked for a fridge my room didnt have a fridge. I was not allowed to braai. Had to eat at the restaurant This morning i waited 50 min for my breakfast. The waiter came back 3 times to ask my order again and again. I wasnt asked what do i want to drink. I had to ask them so do i have to eat my breakfast without something to drink. I am sorry. They will never see me again.

Nice location overlooking the Orange river and Bridge. The rooms were clean and comfy and the staff very helpful and friendly.

This place provides a lovely stop that provides great relaxation, especially when on a long trip. If you have small kids, I particularly recommend that you make this your stop and allow them to enjoy a nicely maintained playground right on the edge of the beautiful Orange River

Stopped in at 11:10 for a quick meal on the road, by 12:05 the food had not arrived and we paid for drinks and left. There were two tables at the time. Pricey and very slow.

The conference room has a storage area that is haphazardly looking and not so conducive for one's health. We were not provided water until we asked for it. Their coffee was cold and they only provided one toilet roll for the entire day

What a find! Great stop-over! Comfortable clean rooms. Friendly efficient service. Great location, with magnificent views over the Orange River. The food, especially the pizza and Wagyu burgers were really delicious, and everything was affordable. The reception was very welcoming. Riverside Lodge Aliwal North is definately a lodge that I can wholeheartedly recommend. You can see that this unique lodge is properly managed, (by the owners themselves) and the staff was super efficient and friendly. This was a stay that I will always remember, and we will be back soon!

The floods sometimes early this year seems to have done some damage to the room I was in. The wet carpet smell hits you, the moment you open the room and lingers on the whole time. Other than that, the room was tastefully appointed and the bed nice, firm and clean.

Just traveling through and in desperate need of a nice take away meal and cappuccinos. Shop had a few interesting things to look at while waiting for my order but the prices were high. My burger was raw and I asked for welldone. My tortilla wrap was disappointing with wilted lettuce and missing mayo in my chicken mayo combo. The coffee wasn't bad, but I asked for a large and they gave me a standard cup. Lastly there was an annoying beggar in the parking lot asking for food right at our car window and watching us eat. Very offensive.

Always a great place to stay. We travel from Eastern Cape to Free State and back quite often. This is for us the perfect location to stay over for a break. The rooms are always clean and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Fantastic place with unbelievable rooms and views. The service was excellent and food very good. Unfortunately we were just popping in to visit family who stayed over and look forward to our opportunity to enjoy the hospitality.

Comfortable and very affordable, sadly not able to cope with too many visitors. Food arrived ice cold after over an hours wait .We were advised of the delay but warm food is a must . Very noisy neighbors.

Unfortunately only had an opportunity to stop for breakfast, but given the quality will definitely make this our overnight stop on next ECape trip. Breakfast was fantastic, service friendly and efficient, and venue special. Thank you for being part of our good memories on this holiday!

Great Lodge for pass through. Convenient with Pub & Grill next door. Friendly staff and accommodation adequate.

The top rooms are very noisy at night and bad hot water pressure but my kids stayed at the lower rooms and had no such issues. Rooms are small but neat. Don't prepay your breakfast as it's alacarte and just treated as a credit.
