I pop into the Pontardawe Inn regularly, after walking my dog. Yes its very dog friendly. Dogs can be outside, or in the bar with their owners on a lead of course. They now have a dog food menu great if your out and your dog needs food, so there,s no need to rush home for that reason, and the prices are very reasonable. The place has a rustic feel with wooden floors and log burners to cwtch up on cold winters days/evenings. The food is hearty and outstanding all homemade and freshly prepared to order. There is a wide variety of real ales, lager, wines etc although ive not sampled all of whats available lol🤣🤣🤣🤣. The staff are very friendly and work hard to provide a really good service. There are live bands playing on Saturday night, and Sunday afternoons. I,m not sure if meals are served everyday?? However you will not be dissapointed. As food out these days is expensive, i expect high quality for that price and so far ive always paid compliments to the staff or chef for the meals ive had served to me. In August each year the Pontardawe folk festival is on and this venue has always played a big part in that for donkies years. Very accessible just off the A465 bypass, and has reasonable parking spaces. As an older woman with her dog i go there alone to have a pint, some food and if music is playing ( bands ) thats a bonus, i feel comfortable in rustic comfortable surrounding. Try it and see for yourselves.

We came here for Sunday lunch for mother's day. We were greeted with a warm welcome, we were given a table which accommodated my son's pushchair as he was too little for the highchair. My mother and I were given a small bottle of prosecco for mother's day which was a lovely touch and the food we had was absolutely amazing! We as a family always enjoy coming here whether it's for food or just a drink 🥰

Had a fantastic meal yesterday, food was so great, nice to have a burger in a proper seeded bun, not that brioche rubbish! Staff are so pleasant and it’s lovely to see they’re dog friendly there too. Living locally it’s such a pleasure to have somewhere decent to pop out for a nice drink and a lovely meal, will definitely be back very soon xx

Great food, great atmosphere and the fuss they gave my yorkies was so lovely (they even have a doggy menu! you should see the size of the burgers i ordered for the pups, they had a great time eating them!) Highly recommended, especially for dog owners! Can't wait to go again ❤️

What a great pub! Good range of ales, plus whatever else you might want, including cocktails. Cheerful friendly staff, good food, live music every week on Saturday nights and Sunday evenings. The place is kept clean and in good repair, and it is a good spot to stop off if you are cycling or walking along the riverbank. My favourite.

Me and my family go here fairly often. Even after it changed hands, and can honestly say the staff are still as friendly as before and the gentleman that has taken it over, takes his time to speak to you as if your old friends. We're always made to feel welcome. Good luck for this weekend manic. 😁

I really don't like putting negative reviews up. Myself and my husband today decided to have a Sunday lunch, we have not long moved to the area, so we googled nearby places to eat and saw you had very good reviews mostly. So we phoned up and was told to come straight down. On arrival the girl serving us was lovely at the till. We were told it was a 30 minute wait but that was fine. We ordered 2 beef dinners and 10 pigs in blankets between us. Honestly this was the worst roast dinner myself and my husband have ever had. For both of us to say the same trust me, it really was. So to start, the vegetables which included broccoli (that was brown in parts and clearly reheated tasted like it had been prepared days before and was "old" as my husband called it) The carrots both of us found extremely inedible . We had to pick the peeling off each carrot , that was left on them all from being Cooked. The carrots were discusting. Only word for them. The peeling was brown the insides were soggy. We both spent time trying to eat as we were both hungry. But left all the peelings on the plate and in the end couldn't eat the carrots. These are simple to cook. I do understand some people cook with peeling on carrots. BUT as any cook would know the risk of this is a bitter taste plus it can be hard. These carrots were both those plus worse as they are undeniably not fresh. The only other vegetables were red pickled cabbage that really didn't go with the meal and neither of us ate any of it . I had to remove it from my plate and put it on my husbands as it was affecting me eating any of the food that was edible. He couldn't eat any of it either. The potatoes mashed were OK. We ate that. But the best part for me in a roast dinner apart from the meat and gravy are the roast potatoes , these were so bad that for the first time in my life honestly I couldn't eat them. They were clearly reheated and cooked days before. There is no way any of this food was cooked fresh. It was old tasting, we felt sick . The gravy was like water, and I love gravy always, but this was awful . The beef was edible. If I were to be picky it was a bit dry but we both ate that which was a relief My husband clears his plate at home and everywhere he goes. So for him to leave so much food and myself speaks volumes. I mentioned to one of the other girls working there about the carrots having the peel left on because it was so bad. She spoke to the chef and came back and said " that's the way he cooks them " as she saw us struggling to get the hard brown peel off the carrots to try to eat them. I love a roast dinner. I've eaten in many many pubs, bars restaurants , hotels and this was so bad. We just walked out leaving our plates of food. It was a total waste of £28.65 for the food, plus fuel , and time plus we both felt queasy after it. Then we needed to go and get food straight after to eat as we were both hungry. I'm sure the reply will be you cooked it fresh but I took photos of all the food and the meal. Which is a shame it won't allow me to upload on here for you to see. It Clearly backs up each part of this review . I believe in giving credit where its due. Like I said I don't like leaving a bad review but both of us were so disappointed I feel that its important for a business to know when their customers are not happy. Which I did show whilst there. But nothing was done about it . No one at any point came up to ask how our meals were, whilst we ate or near leaving which is common practice. It was very busy and loud and we couldn't wait to leave . We won't be returning

The girl working in the shed did a fabulous job over the weekend, think her name is holly? I will be returning simply because of her amazing service, the San Miguel was delicious as well.

What an amazing experience from start to finish! We had a booking of 23 people and everything was spot on. Staff were friendly, food was delicious and great value for money and wholesome atmosphere in the pub. Catering for veggies, gluten free and fussy people too! Highly recommend.

The food quality and taste was fantastic! A job well done! The service was brilliant and even though there were so many people tonight, the pub owners always made time for each indvidual person at the pub! :). The rooms available were fantastic! I held an event there and even though there was a quiz night going on, I could still host my event there! :)

Another fab visit, walk along the river and then another lovely meal today. Food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Dog friendly is an understatement, they are amazing, dog menu is huge, treats on arrival, pigs in blankets for snacks, they loved it 🐾. Highly recommended.

I cannot express how good the staff are there, they were so helpful with my 2 year old as she is a bit timid. The food was awesome! All this after a big flood they had too. If I could rate more than 5 I would. Will definitely be popping in again.

My favourite pub in Pontardawe! Excellent selection of drinks and the food is great value for money and never disappoints. Atmosphere is lovely, as are all the staff. Weekly entertainment, great outside area, and dog friendly too! Highly recommend :)

What a fantastic pub! Brilliant atmosphere, all the staff were friendly, professional and polite. Great entertainment on, perfect for a Sunday! We didn't realise food service ended at 5pm (our fault for not checking) so when we tried to order food at 5.30 we were told the kitchen had closed for the day. We were disappointed with ourselves for not checking beforehand, we didn't want to leave as we were having a great time. As we were discussing where else we could go for food, unbeknown to us the landlord and landlady were sat behind us having their food, and the landlord very kindly offered to do us a meal if we got our order in straight away. Absolutely excellent service, they went above and beyond to accommodate us which they didn't have to do. The food was lovely and even our dogs were fussed over. We'll definitely return!

Such a fantastic time with friends and family, we will definitely be visiting this family friendly pub again. We were welcomed by Sion and Michelle who kept checking in on our experience throughout our visit. Food was delicious and the environment was fun and friendly. We thoroughly enjoy the whole afternoon and evening. Top rated experience.

Called in early on a Suday evening for a birthday meal. Hadn't booked but no problem getting a table. Varied menu of pub grub. Food was very good particularly the steak which my partner had. Good variety of beer and lager on tap. Service was friendly and prompt. Would definitely visit again in the future.

Went for a family get together, 12 of us, all enjoyed and loved the food. Competitive prices and a great atmosphere. The landlord even sat us in a seperate room around the back away from the bar as the rugby was on. Great service too from the staff, already booked to go back for another big family bash!

The Sunday dinners are great portion sizes and good quality. I think the gravy could be a bit thicker, and I need to come with a bigger belly so I can actually finish the portion.

Nice pub. Decent range of real ales. Could do with some craft beer or something from smaller breweries on cask. Recommended

It was lovely we sat outside for our drinks & then decided to order food as it smelt delicious from another table. The food we had was faultless the team’s service was excellent. It got to hot to continue to sit outside so we went inside where it was much cooler. Lovely atmosphere all the team were courteous and very helpful will definitely be back.

🫤 Lovely meal but over priced. Charged £1.30 for a fried egg. My son had gammon and was asked if he wanted egg or pineapple. Others offer both. He had autism so as he's had both before he asked for both and they charged us £2.30 for one fried egg. Meals are overpriced.
