Totally different experience as non-guest. Watch out! I had been here multiple times before for dinner and breakfast, as I live next door and my family/friends stay here when visiting me (as recently as 3 weeks ago). Last weekend, I went with a friend for breakfast after highly recommending the breakfast, and was extremely disappointed at how they treat non-guests as second class. There is a separate menu (with fewer items but the same price!) if you are not a guest and they are not transparent or honest about it (they only show the full menu on their website to trick you). Even basics like French toast and omelette have been removed. They have a tiny selection of open face sandwiches (I think 4 varieties) and a giant bowl of muesli, which they leave out to dry for hours. The fruit salad was already turning brown. Poached and scrambled eggs as well as crepes are made to order. I didn't take a photo because it was beyond underwhelming. They also had all their heaters on when it was around 20 degrees and we were sitting outside. Cannot recommend this to anyone and after this dishonest experience, will even tell my family and friends to stay at another hotel. For 49 Euros per person, you can eat much better elsewhere.

Great food, and in particular, fantastic waiting staff. This restaurant is hidden inside a hotel and is a hidden gem in Hamburg. The ambience is excellent, very clean and very cozy. The staff is knowledgeable, very professional and courteous. The menu is extensive, with lots of great seafood and meat. Just a few vegetarian options though, so mainly for pescatarians and carnivores. The wine menu is great but quite pricey. Some of the 2009 and 2010 vintages are stunning though, and absolutely worth the price. We had a wide range of food in the group, sea food, risotto, and meat, and everyone loved their food. We will be coming back!

Nice ambiance. But staff seem to be overwhelmed and most of them rude. Unfortunately for the service I would not give more than 2 stars.

Very nice place. Exactly what you expect from a brasserie. Busy, tables close to each other and great food. Service was also very attentive and friendly. All the food we had was great!

Looking for a French fine dining experience in Hamburg? Then this one‘s for you! Had a simply outstanding evening there with friends. Perfect across all dimensions (service, food, drinks, atmosphere) … well, save it for the price. But definitely worth it! And if you can find someone to share the Chateaubriand with you … go for it. Expensive, but one of the best I‘ve ever had.

The hotel is great but the restaurant is a bit of a joke. Don't be taken in by the interesting menu and ambience. The food isn't good and the service is sweet, but lame. Sardine Starter- a can of sardines with bread. Waldorf Salad- some coleslaw and frozen shrimp. Atlantic Sole- oh my god, they ruined it. Maybe it was frozen to begin with, but whatever it took, it tasted like rubber. I had to return it and the chef was comically indignant- as if he were a great chef or something! An amusing night...

Fine delicious food in a very elegant and tasty atmosphere. The beef was cooked to perfection and the wine menu is pretty good. Great evening, will come back. Really close to the city center. The staff we really professional.

There are not many occasions when a place deserves 5 Stars, but Tortue is more than deserving. Not one thing was wrong. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, the food was just immense and the service was second to none. I cannot wait to return.

Chic french style brassiere in the Neustadt of Hamburg. The interior and the open kitchen make this spot appealing and ensures a lively atmosphere where you will enjoy a date or dinner with your best friends. The food is decent, we went for the fish if the day (loup de mere) and white asparagus: Good but not amazing. I would expect that they serve the whole fish right at the table rather than serving just the filets. Wine list is quite small but offers decent by the glass choices and some fine bottles. All in all a cool location worth visiting when in Hamburg.

We were at the TORTUE brasserie on the 8th of July and we had a great time. We made a reservation in advance for the “schlemmersommer menu”, when we got there we had a nice little corner on the veranda, which perfectly matched the weather. We were 5 people, English speakers and everything worked fine. The service was good, the food was delicious, the ambiance, the drinks - I have to say, the aperol and wild berry glasses should have been fuller - anyway, it was all very good. I really liked the easy going service. We will definitely be back, and who knows, maybe for an overnight stay? Thank TORTUE team.

Finding a respectable restaurant in Hamburg on a Monday night seemed almost impossible until I found Tortue brasserie. From reserving the table over the phone, to the unique atmosphere entering the premises and the high level of food quality and saveur, to the most friendly service given all along the evening made the experience unforgettable. I had the best escargots and poulet rôti in my life, accompanied by a light, fruity and charming Rosé de Provence.

Great place, very authentic French cuisine a la brasserie. Busy place but calm and professional service. They need to find a solution for all the people who let the door open when going to the terrasse to smoke - all the cigarette smoke go straight inside the restaurant and it smells terrible! Maybe a door pump can help the desperate smokers with a relatively small thing as closing a door? Overall great experience though

How often do you check the food items AND the prices on the bill before paying? Creative and delicious foods BUT for this brasserie, checking is a must. Went for lunch and 2 appetizers were charged with 6€ extra = total of 12€ extra. After notifying the waiter, only 6€ was removed from the bill, leaving another 6€ still being incorrect. Finally the bill was corrected but unnecessary amount of time wasted.

Showed up without reservation on a Saturday to try their legendary breakfast, eur 49 per person. What a surprise! World class eggs Benedict. I wanted to try the avocado bread as well. No problem per the waiter, who organised a small portion of each. Likewise for drinks with a crazy assortment of juices and smoothies. It was like being served by real life Jeeves from Jeeves and Wooster! The pancake was also incredibly delicious - simply world class. The best part was when I asked for the bill they informed me that since I had not “outspent the eur 49” they would simply charge me a la carta and it was a total of eur 42.5. After this I took a tour of the hotel. World class interior and service. Will be staying here next time in Hamburg!

French restaurant located next to the lobby in the Tortue hotel in Hamburg, we ordered Entrecote, Escargot, bouillabaisse and onion soup. Food was very average, a bit on the heavy side and lacked finesse. I was very disappointed at the beer selection (I know... I should drink wine at a French restaurant but I prefer beer)... You would expect something more exciting than commercial beers like kronenbourg and Carlsberg.....maybe some nice French craft beers!

This was perhaps my first fine dining experience in Hamburg and I was not disappointed.. Summary as below - Saturday evening, place was packed. Chic classy interiors. Someone collects your jacket at the entrance, walks you through to your table. Well done. - I recommend the Onion Soup, Chouf leur (baked cauliflower) and the Châteaubriand (Beef Steak) - Great wine list - Service is excellent. I missed out asking her name but my special appreciation to our server, the German lady who speaks perfect French. Hope my comments will reach her. Enjoy your experience here.

Absolute worst service of my life to a point where I truly believe this restaurant is racist against people of color. They managed to sit all white people in front of us even though we have reserved (my German wife’s name) and arrived 20 minutes in advance, but as soon as I (instead of my wife) show up to tell them we arrived early, our table is not ready and we have to wait 5 minutes. We were told to wait in the lobby where we were eventually going to be called. That turned into another 30 minutes of waiting for her to pick us up, which predictably never happened. When we were finally seated (after I went back in to let my presence known), all the other guests around us were served while we were tended to last and our mains were served 1.5 hours after we were seated. The table next to us who were seated half an hour later than us were always tended to and served first all through out the apps/mains/deserts (they were a party of 3 to our 4). Furthermore, they “forgot” our wine order, drink order- my steak was extremely over cooked. I usually make a point of not leaving public reviews, but I need to make sure people are aware and be properly warned about this restaurant.
