29/07/23: Red Willow Brewery: Breakfast Stout 5.6%, Kirkstall Brewery: Apricot sour 4.5% and Northern Monk Brewery: Guava Have Faith, guava hazy pale ale 4% 08/10/22: been here many times on the Chorlton Ale Trails, but not for quite some time. Previously known as Ostara, Charango, Scotts Hill and now The Beagle. I've frequented Chorlton from as far back as the last 1980's. In a recent request asking if they were still dog friendly, they replied "please bring dogs". Definitely dog friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Great, fantastic open plan lower tier area, glass fronted, airy and very relaxing. Fantastic choice of craft ales and were more than helpful in suggesting and giving tasters of new brews. They also boast Nells Pizza. It's delicious, although we opted for one slice after a large breakfast (elsewhere) as opposed to the 14 or 22 inch pizzas they also offer. The 'Do you like Roni Honey' was amazing! N'duja and pepperonifrom Cobble Lane, tomato sauce, mozzarella and finished with chilli honey and parmasan.

First visit to this bar and Paulicarus probably will not be back. Only 1 real ale, Thornbridge Lucaria, a 6% Ice Ceam Stout which is too strong for both of us. A second pump was sold out. Lots of strong craft keg beers and a couple of normal strength house beers. Pizzas seem to be popular here. Card only so loses a star for that alone. Sun trap conservatory plus a couple of outside tables.

I haven’t been to this bar in a few years and what a transformation. From a busy brunch spot to a cold lifeless bar. We came in the early evening to try the pizza. On arrival it was very quiet, a couple of other tables, all sat in the conservatory. It was a cold, wet day and the door was wide open. I was hoping for a bit of warmth! We sat at a nice table and got drinks from the bar. I had a margarita which was fine but nothing special tbh. We ordered the N’duja pizza and a garlic bread. The garlic bread came first and it was tasty. Unfortunately the bottom was burnt black and was very unpleasant tasting. I ate around it best I could. The pizza arrived and it looked nice. I found the base very bready. I felt it wasn’t fresh? Perhaps frozen? I should have asked, my bad. The pizza was just ok, nothing special unfortunately. They had ice cream sandwiches and I love those! I tried the red velvet one. I’m happy to report that it was very tasty. When it came I thought it was a bit small but it turned out to be the perfect size for my appetite. Again it wasn’t made fresh but came in a cute wrapper with the factory production dated printed on it. I dunno, I prefer fresh food when eating out. All the food was served on paper plates (the pizza came on a baking tray) which made me feel as if I were at a child’s dinner party. I thought it was pretty cheap, I prefer to eat from real plates if I’m paying to eat somewhere! Staff were friendly, but the barman wasn’t very knowledgeable, couldn’t make an Ameretto sour Overall, I would go back for a pint and perhaps get my pizza elsewhere. Plenty of good pizza spots in Chorlton.

My partner took me here a few weeks ago and it has some of the most innovative vegan food I've tried in the Greater Manchester area. A particularly favourite being the oyster mushroom wings. They were 10/10 and I can't wait to go back and try the rest of their extensive vegan range.

I had a wonderful experience here. Food was well priced, quantity was good & the pizza was tasty. The atmosphere was good & the team were friendly. None of really enjoyed our drinks that much. The cocktails were too sweet, my GnT wasn’t the best & the beer selection wasn’t great. I would go back for food & vibes, but not to drink.

Came with friends for the 50% off pizza deal that Nell's is doing in January. Nice place with friendly staff. We ordered some pizza when we first arrived, which came out promptly and were tasty. The 22" pizzas are absolutely huge so would recommend sharing this between a few of you! We ordered a third pizza and more drinks but due to it being quite busy that night it took a long time to order at the bar, and then both food and drinks took a while to come out. Think the overall experience would have been better if we could have ordered pizza via the app too, and if they had all their drinks on the app (some were on their paper menu but not on the app so you had to go up to order anyway).

The best pizza in Manchester. Honestly it’s the best. Don’t buy it by the slice you have to get a whole one fresh, but nowhere else is as good as this, nowhere I’ve eaten locally, nowhere I’ve eaten in Manchester, nowhere I’ve eaten in Italy. Honestly scarcely a day has gone by when I haven’t thought about how good this pizza is. Can’t wait to go back.

We went in for a drink as we'd never been in before, the weather was mixed so we had a couple of drinks and we kept on getting a waft of pizza, so we decided to check them out, they were not all your regular toppings but we decided to have the cheese and onion pie one which was recommended by one of the staff, its was amazing, the service was great too and we will be back at some point

Great place, we visited here for Nell’s pizza. You can order at the bar or via a QR code. Both drinks and pizza came quickly. The pizza was delicious, staff friendly and we will definitely be back!

Starting with the positives: friendly staff behind the bar (in the dungarees if I remember right), pizzas were nice (Hawaiian was good, shroom with a view could've been more saucy but that's my preference) and came out quickly, excellent half price deal to boot! It's a lovely venue. Now for the rest. Booked in at short notice, but realised we might be slightly late so called up to let them know and to see if we can shift our booking. The way this was handled was very much "computer says no" with a patronising attitude educating us on how the booking system works when I asked about alternative solutions. Didn't want to lose our deposit so rushed and got there 4 minutes late, and was reminded again (by the same colleague who answered the phone) the table was needed back - this was in 86 minutes time and we got asked if we still wanted to sit down? The place filled up but even as we left there were a good number of tables sitting empty for the duration of our visit. It might've been the case that all were booked in and due to turn up very shortly after we left but even so, this whole experience could have been handled so much better. I work in hospitality and appreciate it isn't always the best gig but we don't really know what we did to incur this lad's wrath. Hopefully a one-off, but I'll probably stick to Common next time.

Great selection of craft ale and beer. Friendly atmosphere and always busy. Pizza offering particularly good. Although it's New York style so don't expect puffy neapolitan crusts etc. Nowt wrong with that though! Also do massive 22 inchers, but mostly a novelty - £ per cm2 is barely any better than a standard 14.

Went for the massive 22 inch pizzas provided by Nells, with 50% off in January it's hard to resist. Decent boozer with a vast array of beers and ales and super friendly staff.

Pizza was alright, but I expected it to be better for the price. The service was friendly. It was very stuffy inside. Kid friendly.

Nice place and pizza but … ordered a Bramble which I order everyone and came frozen. Full of ice. Taste of 0 alcohol and told waitress and she said ‘go to bar and tell them’ bar queue was huge … pointless

This the best bar ever. Because I got a free strawberry slushy because someone accidentally dropped a tray on me and that's why, Victoria that gave me the slushy was lovely. This is the best time at a bar in my life. Imogen aged 8

Love this place, pizza is decent not spectacular and I wish they still served a variety of food like they used to but I still like it for its choice of craft beers

Great venue / lovely staff / great atmosphere the only thing I would say is they need to ask the cleaner to check the ladies toilets/ skirting boards need a good clean and needs some paint work as looks a bit tired and slightly dirty - deep clean .

A nuanced and alternative venue with a homely decor. A wide selection of drinks with a variety of music in a comfortable environment, and a blissful atmosphere. The type of place that exemplifies the bohemian and naturalistic sights and vibe of Chorlton.

Still some of the best pizza you can get in Manchester for sure. Great, friendly staff too. However, the price of beer and drinks is a big let down. £3 for a half-pint of coke and upwards of £7 for some (good but not incredible) pints is madness and should not be normalised.

Haven't tried the pizzas, but ate here several times before they changed the menu and it's always been excellent. Looks like they have regular offers on the pizzas and also do them by the slice. The range of drinks is excellent. Always have a dozen plus options for ales and lagers. The staff seem to know what they're selling as well, which isn't always the case in ale boozers. The staff are friendly, it's a nice setup (especially when the sun's out and the patio doors are open) and they've now got a rear beer garden if you prefer the shade or quiet. Only slight quibble is some of the pricing. Obviously it's a gentrified area, but they could do better on the costs of drinks. Appreciate it's been a very testing time for the trade, but a pint of cask ale shouldn't cost well over £4, and because lots of the keg beers they stock are stronger they can cost an arm and a leg. More options for people on lower incomes wood be really appreciated.

Pizzas were amazing, and good selection of drinks. Staff were super helpful on a busy day, and brought over some water for our dogs. Thank you for going the extra mile!

Don't go that often anymore since they stopped doing regular food and switched to Pizza only. No GF options, they don't even sell crisps anymore. Still a great place to stop for a drink.

My Local and deservingly so. A lovely, friendly team and one of the best selections of beer in Chorlton. Nell’s pizzas are the only pizza I can honestly say I really like. We even have takeaways from time to time.

Great pizza, fast service and friendly staff. Tables can feel a little small - especially if you're eating. Tables can just about fit two 22in pizzas so be aware if you're a table of four and you order at once!

Been comin to this place for years. Its always great food, the staff are friendly and make you feel very comfortable. They have a conservatory with comfy sofas and is very easy to while away an afternoon watching the rain outside. They also have a £5 lunch deal with wraps and chips. Both meat, veggie and vegan options available on it. The fried chicken is some of the best around.

First time I've had Nell's pizza at the Beagle. Been here before when it was doing burritos etc and was always good. The pizzas are huge and we shared a 22" between 3 of us. We had one half meat and honey and the other with burrata on it. It's was delicious and plenty of toppings. Definitely go back and try some other flavours.

In short, great place with a good vibe and lots of seating. Very friendly and helpful servers. Pizza was absolutely delicious, best I've had in a while (see detailed review below) also absolutely massive for such a good price - leftovers brought back for a banging lunch today. Also a good selection of craft ales, cocktails etc. Can't believe this is my first time here. Thanks so much guys ! So I know there is competition between the classic Neapolitan pizza (e.g. Rudy's pizza or prove) and a new York style pizza like they serve here. Now I was somewhat on the fence but this place pushed me way over onto the side of New York. This pizza was exciting all the way through. A thin and fantastically crusty base with delicious marinara sauce, cheese and toppings. Neapolitan pizza has strict rules about what you can use for toppings and I say screw that ! This place uses a good mix of traditional and unorthodox (I like pineapple on pizza I'm sorry). The pizza comes in either 14inch or 22inch diameter. I recommend the 22inch which you can go half and half on which me and my partner did. An added bonus was the short wait time and affordable price.

Sound comfortable bar. Pizza is very popular here. Crowd seems to be 30+ quite atmospheric and great for a pale ale. Outdoor seating areas. Friendly staff. Can order at bar or on app. Cashless bar.

Omg! The atmosphere, the selection of beers on tap, the FOOD (5*) and the staff. Every single inch of this establishment wowed me and I come from a marketing background and work in a pub/bar/hotel and I can assure you this is one to try. Definitely going to be somewhere I come when I want no disappointments. Thanks guys. 🙌🏽

Massive Pizza by the slice or if your hungry go for a full one. They are really big though. Excellant craft beers good selection of wines . On the whole a good place to be even if it does get crowded. Also they have a happy hour serving drinks at reduced prices. I reckon this is when its really the busiest .

I could (and more or less do) eat at this place everyday. Do yourself a favour and try the “Do you Roni Honey” with the jalapeño lime dip or if you don’t eat meat the greens is stunning too. Come here all the time and never been disappointed. Staff are great drinks are great, also if you catch the quiz that’s super fun too:)

Mixed bag A deliveroo order of the pizza that was met with pretty varied reception. My wife suggested a 5 out of 5 for the honey and pepperoni, whilst I thought the cheese and onion was basically inedible. My daughter didn't like the ham and pineapple (usually her favourite flavour). I will say the dough was really good, the crust being the favourite part for all of us, and it did have a great texture and mouthfeel. The spicy sausage pizza needed more cheese. My wife would happily re-order the pepperoni and honey pizza

Great pub in Chorlton, one of our favourites. Good service and alcohol. Nice atmosphere. I don't think the pizzas are as good as my friends do to be honest, but the fact you can order by the slice is a game changer. Regularly stop by on dog walks.

Really helpful staff, Nells pizzas were great, super fast delivery too. Craft beer list as long as my arm. Good, laid back atmosphere.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
