👍👍 Graffiti worth seeing beautifies this place with a terrible past. The best you can do with a place like this. At around 50 meters you are transported to an underwater world. The tunnel was used as a prisoner of war camp during World War II. The tunnel ran under today's Duisburg-Dortmund train line. People often mention tunnel,

Nice example of the successful design of a tunnel. Very beautifully painted, and even if the ravages of time wear on it... you almost feel like you're in the sea😉

The history of the Second World War is not nice, ...... however, very nice picture graffiti was created in this tunnel that no longer makes it seem so horrible..... tunnels should generally be made a little more beautiful

A historic place that has been brightened up a little by the Aqua World painting. (A memorial plaque is located at the northern exit) If you're in the area, it's worth a quick visit.

A place worth seeing in two respects. On the one hand, a great graffiti mural was created there years ago, which takes into account and incorporates the architecture of the circular tunnel. A little secret art corner between Frohnhausen, West and Altendorf. At the same time, as part of the renovation, the historical part of the tunnel, the memorial, was also cleaned and renewed. A (too) small sign clearly states that prisoners of war were hiding in this tunnel from the bombings in the Second World War. The “new housing estate” in the Nögerath valley was a work camp at the time. The juxtaposition of these two experiences, the knowledge that not the entire tunnel, but only the front part, used to be this hiding place, allows emotional access between the present and the past, if you are sensitive to it.

Unfortunately, some of the beautiful #grafittis were painted over/smeared. A small #tunnel with a dark and sad #past. Regardless of this, I don't necessarily want to be there in the dark today... #tracesofthepast #worldwar
