A tiny restaurant with only two tables and a chef named yuki who is passionate about Italian food and who creates excellent dishes. The restaurant only serves the two tables once per night and yuki is the server and the chef. He explains the menu using pictures on an iPad and offers a wide variety of appetizers and pastas. We ate the caprese, which was served with creamy mozzarella and it was delicious. We also started with meatballs in marinara. Also delicious. We had the grilled blue shrimp from New Caledonia and they were excellent. This was followed by Yukis famous pizza with prosciutto on top of pesto and it was also fabulous. We also tried the amatriciana made with bucatini and it was delicious. All the while Yuki handled everything with warmth and enthusiasm that made our meal extremely enjoyable. We finished with the homemade tiramisu and it was perfect. I will absolutely see Yuki whenever I’m in Kyoto. His little restaurant is really fantastic.

Indeed all of the reviews lived up to our expectations. Italian food in Japan can be pretentious but this is straight home cooking that brought us straight back to Italy. We came on a Sunday night and we enjoyed every dish we ordered. Despite our limited Japanese, the owner was very patient and explained every dish we ordered. He prepared everything on site and fresh per order so definitely a wait but worth it.

Delicious and amazingly friendly owner. It feels like eating in the chef's private kitchen with the utmost attention to detail. We reached out via Facebook messenger for reservation and he confirmed right away. So wonderful.

I loved every moment. Better than the Italian food I had in Italy. Seriously cannot explain the amount of detail in the food. Had to order more just because I simply wanted to taste more of what this place had to offer. Would have given more than 5 stars if I could.

It is a private dining concept by reservation only. A short walk from Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae subway. It is easy to communicate through fb messenger. Chef is one man show but luckily on that night we are the only group so cooking time no issue at all. Chef explained in detailed and also will recommend different options if we want to share dishes as he will choose a variety to try. All dishes are highly satisfied. You can sense that the chef pay attention and take pride in the ingredients used. I definitely will visit this restaurant again if I come back to Kyoto.

Best Italian gourmet in a private dining arrangement we experienced today in Kyoto! Chef Yuki is so personable and we tasted his passion in every single dish! All ingredients chosen were best and fresh! Every dish was absolutely beautiful! My helper of 8 years and my hubby of 27 years have never seen me cleaned out my plates during our time together so far! Even my finicky daughter who is picky in her food, cleaned out her plate, just like me. Chef Yuki is a Michelin star worthy chef! We are going back again this Sunday just before our flight to return to Singapore!

Visiting Kyoto for a week and found this restaurant on Google reviews having high marks. Decide to try it out and was not disappointed. Chef Yuki-San explained each and every dish. Chef Yuki-san talked very passionately about all of his dishes. Everyone will be able to taste the love and passion he puts into his cooking! This place has plenty to offer and will not disappoint. Highly recommended!!

Super tasty food here. The Chef works by himself and makes really delicious food and took the time to explain many menu items to us. Good range of different foods here to eat and definitely recommend you visit here. Would visit again!

The owner is super friendly, with an extreme passion for Italian food. The pizza is amazing! Authentic Italian soda, I had 3 bottles for myself :) The store opens at 6PM instead of 530PM, please be aware of that.

Yuki is a very passionate chef who has a six sense for understanding taste! Make sure you book the day before or you will miss out on delectable pasta, pizza, dessert and entre. He puts his heart and soul into his food and imports only quality produce. The Macedonia concept means his food is to share with everybody, if you ask you can find out more. Extremely good food and atmosphere at Yuki’s restaurant. Yuki is a kind and hospitable man that takes time for his guests to ensure they’ll enjoy their time at his restaurant. First he’ll ask you about your preferences like taste and ingredients and based on that he’ll give you advice on what to order. For appetizer we chose an anti pasta plate containing tomato & buffalo mozzarella, octopus carpaccio, bruschetta. As main course we shared beef with tagliatella pasta and a pizza with prosciutto ham, mozzarella and cherry tomatoes. For desert we ordered canolli and two scoops of gelato ice cream (vanilla and blood orange). We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anybody wanting an unique experience with Italian food in Kyoto. あみとブランドンより

Looking for a break from the Japanese cuisine, we looked for alternatives and we found this small italian restaurant in Kyoto. And we were not disapointed. Yuki-San has captured the best of the Italian cuisine, combining its culinary talent with excellent products coming straight from Italy. Probably the best Italian restaurant we had outside of Italy! In addition, Yuki-San is very friendly and keen to explain his cuisine to his guests. An experience not to be missed! (You NEED to book a few days in advance)

I found this hidden gem on google. I was thrilled that we were able to make a reservation only a few days ahead. Yuki was a great host and chef. We ordered 2 apps, 4 dishes and a pizza for 4ppl. We opt for family style to make it easier for the chef to make each dish individually, which allowed us all to taste and enjoy the dish together. Everything was delicious and hit the spot. Don’t hesitate to make your reservation via Facebook messenger!

This was perhaps one of the most genuine, wholesome and delicious restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. Yuki gives you the best service, the food is delicious and he explains the entire menu before you order. Everything was perfectly cooked. It has to be one of the best restaurants in Kyoto.

We had such a great evening at Yuki’s restaurant. A truly unique experience - it felt like private dining as we were the only people in the restaurant after the earlier sitting finished. The reviews are true - the food is SO authentic with high quality ingredients. We’re from London and we’ve been to Italy and this was one of the best Italian meals we’ve ever had! Go if you’re looking for something a bit different and in the mood for conversation. He’ll take you through every single dish, cook it all and serve it without any other staff member! Very impressive and reasonably priced too for the quality. A must-do if you can get a table (reserve via Facebook).

We came to Yuki's trattoria on a Monday evening for a relaxed birthday celebration and had a fabulous time. The food was authentic and delicious. Yuki cooks traditional Italian dishes with fresh ingredients from Italy and Japan (the rigattoni bolognese and the tiramisu were extraordinary). Yuki is a one of a kind chef and host. There is not set menu, Yuki explain his dishes with passion and takes the time to have meaningful and interesting discussions with his guests. If you were to go for one non-traditional Japanese meal during your stay in Kyoto, this should be it! Thanks again, dear Yuki, for this memorable and special evening.

We made a reservation here after passing it a few nights before (unfortunately it was full then - so definitely make a reservation!!!). We were absolutely delighted by the whole experience. The food was incredible - very fresh, tasty and made from quality ingredients. Chef Yuki is so passionate about his dishes and ensuring his customers are pleased and comfortable. This meal experience really ended our trip to Japan on such a high note, and we’ll be sure to visit again next time! Thank you, chef Yuki!!

Had an amazing meal last night cooked for us by Chef Yuki. He took the time to explain his food to us and show us his food before cooking it bespoke for us there and then! We tried both pasta and pizza and they were equally delicious. Arigato Gozaimas, Yuki!

This was one of the most incredible restaurant experiences of my life. Yukisan’s approach to making Italian food clearly illustrates his deep understanding of ingredients and balance, knowledge of flavor complexity and contrast, and passion for creating beautiful, approachable food. Each dish was carefully crafted, perfectly portioned, and expertly seasoned. I have never been to a restaurant where I have felt so engaged with the food and experience. Truly one of the most brilliant meals of my life.

All the items i tried (antipasti, shrimp pasta, dessert) are wonderful. See photos. I especially like the eggplant + vinegar + pine nut (center piece in the antipasti photo). The shrimp (from New Caledonia - the owner told me) was very 'sweet', the pasta sauce was very tasty, and the pasta itself was just perfectly cooked. The warm chocolate cake and the ice-cream was awesome too.

This place is such a hidden gem. The best tiramisu I've ever had, and he even added extra mussels to the pasta dish after my boyfriend mentioned how much I like them. An absolute angel of an owner, and every dish was fantastic. Definitely check this place out!

This restaurant is simply sensational. It holds about 10-14 people and the owner is also the chef. Be prepared to wait for you food (like 20mins between dishes) but it is absolutely worth the wait! He explained all the food to is and made amazing reccomendations! So disappointed I only found it on my last night in Kyoto otherwise I would have gone back. An absolute diamond of a find if I could give it more stars I would! Reccomend calling for a reservation, the owner speaks good English! Thank you for a wonderful evening. Looking at the photos I'm getting hungry a over again!

This meal was amazing. Probably the best italian food I’ve ever had, including meals I’ve had in italy. The food was literally the only thing we could talk about the rest of the night. Yuki was a great host, and it was so impressive that he runs the whole place on his own. I wish there was a way to rate better than 5 stars.

Yuki was wonderful, as always. We had the place to ourselves, and Yuki was excited to tell us about the choices we had and then prepare our special feast. The fettuccine was the PERFECT texture. And this is considering that the noodles had to be boiled first and then cooked more to mix with the salmon cream sauce. Even after that, the noodles were still perfectly al dente. That’s one example of the attention to detail and sheer perfection. (I know I keep using that word, but nothing describes it better) The rich coffee immediately brought me back to my days walking around Siena, Italy, where I would stop in a local cafe and watch the world go by. You can’t get better, more authentic Italian food than a meal at Trattoria Macedonia Yuki. 🇮🇹🍝

We walked in here on a whim and it was amazing! This restaurant is a one man show, so be prepared to wait for your food. You won't regret it though. We had the antipasto plate, pizza, a few selections of pasta and dessert. Everything tasted delicious. Highly recommended. But it is a very small place, so make sure you go early as some people were turned away.

Thank you so much Yuki for welcoming us into your restaurant. Not only the food was absolutely perfect but also the service was impeccable. I’ve lived in Italy for half a year and we have been on vacation there so many times. The food from Chef Yuki was exceptional and of very high quality. I wish I could have tried many more dishes. I recommend this restaurant with all my heart. Thank you Chef Yuki!
