Beautiful park, featuring fields, woods and lakes. We just love the beautiful water tower I've included a photo of. We really enjoy taking our dog here, though always find that other people allow their dogs off their leads and approach us. Our dog had a difficult upbringing and this causes her a lot of distress, to the point she needs to be picked up until others leash their own pets. Please, if you have a dog, keep it on a lead when you see other people walking their dogs on leads. We love stopping off at the Derby Lodge Cafe for refreshments mid walk, as it's usually slightly quieter than Shipley Park Visitor Centre Cafe. Very dog friendly, and they do lovely food! Most major paths and tracks are paved, which is great for people with mobility issues.

Wonderful park for dogs, grown ups and children alike. Lake, woodland, open spaces, so something to suit everyone. The snowdrops are just coming out in the woods. Had a delicious raspberry scone at the tea room too.

We had a really nice couple of hours at Shipley Park today. We did the Trail activity which was good fun. We purchased some duck food from the shop and then fed the ducks on Osborne's Pond. We had a walk around the Park and played on the gym equipment. Back to the shop for some sweets for the kids and a hot takeaway coffee for me before playing on the adventure playground. The grounds were well looked after with lots of wild flowers. Nice afternoon.

So many routes to take, so many things to see and do - ponds, streams, woods, meadows, views of Derbyshire, the Shipley Hall site, sculpture art, visitor centre & 2 coffee shops, cycle routes, play areas... Then you can wander into the adjacent Derbyshire Wildlife nature reserve & farm & Young Peoples Forest at Mead owned by the Woodland Trust, (or go along the Nutbrook trail to Long Eaton). Both these hold special events throughout the year. All in all, it's a vast area and you can explore between Heanor, Shipley, Mapperley and Ilkeston.

Beautiful far ranging parkland open all year round. Great visitor centre shop. Various places to get refreshments. Toilets. Stunning woodland with ancient trees, lakes, picnic & sports play areas. Very dog friendly. Wheel chair access in certain areas. Long and short walking distances. Great for all the family. Look put for events. Reasonably priced car parking in spacious car parks.

Great for dog walking, paths are well kept and waste bins provided. I visit the summer food festival annually and enjoy it. You must pay for parking.

Lovely place especially when the sun is out! Loads of different talks and fields I gave up counting, great place to take dogs or go for a run or walk...they have a nice little cafe in the middle and I believe they do events throughout the year! Pay and display parking isn't too much either so that's always a plus!

Great. Except parking meters were very temperamental causing queues. No cash, only cards, luckily had one! Was able to keep away from people due to size of place. Play areas obviously busy

Lots of trails. Cheap parking, a lovely visitors centre and toilets. Lots of mini activity equipment dotted around the park, great for kids. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon and managed to tire out a very energetic dog.

Beautiful place to walk and sketch or paint the scene! With the Vsitors cafe and Derby cafe for refreshments. Lakes, woods, open areas and amazing views. We'll worth the walking visit all year round to see the snowdrops, Bluebells, winter skeleton trees, autumn clolurs, birds on iced lakes, people picnicking and sunsets just stunning. Even has the young people's forest with is refreshing to visit in the knowledge that the youth are respecting the earth. Trying to make a difference.

What a gem this is for the local community. Lots of open space, encouraging walking, cycling and outdoor gym activities. The fields are left for nature, maintained as meadows so that wild flowers, including Orchids, and insects thrive. The owner (DCC) needs to take the various ponds in hand to make it perfect.

Fantastic place. Very weird when approaching it as old mining place but persevere itโ€™s amazing once you are there. Lovely little cafe at the heart of it and plenty of parking. Good to take the family for a few hours of exercise and airing. You could also pack the bikes and cycle round. Weirdly you can also take your horse and park it up near the cafe. Although they ask that you take a horsey bag with you ๐Ÿ˜

Fantastic and vast country park with surrounding woodlands, can do any length of walk and quite possibly see very few other people. Two wonderful cafes to use and a well maintained area too.

The woodland, villages & lakes & the abundance of wildlife made for a lovely day walking around Shipley Park. The ramblers cafe too was terrific, we can certainly recommend the ramblers stack for lunch, there are plenty of meal choices here to suit everyone's taste. Shipley village provided a great scarecrow trail, altogether delightful.

Always a pleasure to spend time in nature. Car parks are a little expensive but the is the road. Grounds are considerable and well kept. Lots to do and quite a lot of wonderful play and sports equipment.

We really enjoyed the junior park run here the other week. It was my lads first one and he loved the route. Shipley park is full of loads to do for people with kids and animals etc. thereโ€™s a nice tea room with a good selection of food and the play area is something my lad enjoys going on. Thereโ€™s a lake nearby and the walks are really nice with only a steady hill to go up if you follow a certain route. You do have to pay for parking but itโ€™s not a large fee. Overall itโ€™s a great place to visit and we enjoy going there.

Met some friends for lunch in the cafe. Was pleasantly surprised at the extensive & varied menu; and the food was enjoyed by all. Sadly the weather was against us making more of the park but that was beyond their control. Saw enough to draw us back again. Car Park is pay & display (no change given) and there are spaces for disabled drivers too.

Lovely walk with friends and family alike as well as your canine. Cool little shop situated behind the cafe, with toilets and changing facilities, which was ideal for having a 4month old. Parking is reasonable and you can pay by card which is perfect as I don't carry change on me these days. Or you can park on the road leasing up with just a bit of walk to main walking paths. There is also a neat park for older kids to play. Can't fault it at all, everything you'd expect for a country park and more. Just to add food from the cafe is super delicious for the price too.
