    So reliability is something else. The journey is faster, but the old engines are so loud that communication is hardly possible. It smells very strongly of petrol because they have to add more fuel when crossing, otherwise there wouldn't be enough fuel. On the last trip an engine simply failed even though the engines were serviced before the trip. The delay is between 20 and 240 minutes, which is apparently normal here.

    A nightmare We had heard that the crossing could be sporty but we did not expect that... after more than an hour of delay we boarded a tiny boat using a boat which was taking on water and we we must push ourselves. In the boat, 40 people crammed together and vomit bags hanging everywhere which really announce the color... I was sitting half outside on the deck so every second torrents of water fell on me, I was completely soaked and no one did anything to give me a towel or find me another place. The crossing was just HORRIBLE, we were going a thousand an hour, 3 times we stopped in the open sea due to engine failure, they repaired it in the open sea with the disgusting gasoline smells that go with it.. . here everyone doesn't care about you, there is no service. For the return we used GiliGetAway and it was night and day. They welcome you with towel, candy, bottles of water. If you want to go to the Gilis I do not recommend leaving from Amed because it is the same for all companies a priori.

    PACK YOUR VALUABLE THINGS WATERPROOF - IT'S VERY TIGHT - Used this service 3 times. Paid 200k IRP for each trip. Nothing can be said for the price in relation to the route and the pick-up service in Amed. Normally the boat goes to the coast so you only have to go knee deep into the water. However, if the waves are higher, your luggage has to be brought onto the speedboat via a small boat.

    We booked the ticket for the fast boat from Gili Air to Amed at a shelter at the beach in Gili Air. Never again. We could not use the fast boat due to the rough sea. So it was only possible to came to Bali by a big ferry from the south of Lombok to Padang bai. So far so good, not the fault of any company. We were told that the tour takes 6 hours instead of 1 hour. Check in time was 11 AM So we thought we will arrive in Amed in the evening. We started half past 12 PM and arrived in the middle of the night at half past 1 AM in Padang bai, where nobody was waiting for us to drive us to Amed. We had no hotel reservation in Padang bai and every hotel was already closed, that we had to sleep on a bench at the harbour. I confronted the travel agency by email hoping they can arrange a transfer to Amed at the next morning and to cover the incremental cost I had to pay for the hostel. But they don't care about it because I booked the tour in a shelter and not in their office.

    I'll start by saying that although the following issue I am about to describe could possibly be a one off scenario, the way the company owner handled it made me incredibly uncomfortable and allowed me to see the benefit of choosing another one of their local competitors who offer the same services with greater attention to customer satisfaction. In short, when it came time to leave the island, my wife and I waited for the boat at the described location and it seemed to have never showed up. In the company's defence, it supposedly did, but with so much boat traffic we were unable to identify which one it was. All other boat companies had staff walking the beach calling out passengers names/destination locations, but ours didn't. We were luckily saved by a competing company (Blue Bird) which took us back to Bali in a much more comfortable cabin. When we arrived back to Bali, I confronted the manager with a reasonable tone hoping they can cover the incremental cost I had to pay for jumping onto a Blue Bird departure. Not only did they not compensate me for my loss but the manager took an extremely combative tone and insinuated I was lying about the lack of organization in the departure process from Gili. I genuinely feel robbed. From this unsettling experience (during our honeymoon), I am now passionate in my efforts to inform others looking for a shuttle service to Gili of this condescending business owner, and hope you avoid my same experience. Oh and all other companies seemed to have more modern boats with better seats/leg room. Thanks for reading.

    Not recommendable! Booked this boat to get from Gili Air to Amed. There is no sign or indication anywhere on Gili Air as to where the boat actually starts, as there is no office there either. After an hour's delay, a small, cramped boat awaited us with absolutely no legroom and a nasty smell of gasoline. The highlight of the trip was that the engine simply failed while driving. So don't be tempted by the cheaper offer!
