Different look of Bali island! This place has a piece of Africa in it. Although it is quiet far from the city but it was totally worth the drive. Hopefully this place stays like this. Because some great places in Indonesia could get very polluted by all the structured attractions.

My husband and I went to Savana Tianyar yesterday (23rd December) for the first time. After a casual conversation with the locals, we found out that the three horses kept in that extremely dry, humid area were badly mistreated by the owner (we didn’t know who the owner is). According to the locals, those poor horses are fed with food and water only every alternate days. They are given water even once a week! In addition, it hasn’t been raining for almost a month now in Savana Tianyar. We couldn’t imagine how thirsty and desperate the horses are! Knowing this, my husband and I could not help to NOT do anything, so we bought three gallons of water to give to the three extremely thirsty horses, which they literally finished drinking within seconds! Visitors, if you see the horses please give them some water too.

It’s better to come at 6.30-7.00, because after 8am it’s hot and too sunny… If you want to have nice photos, make it near park, no need to come in.. Nice place, hope it will be in save in few years 😕

What a great place to have a photo shoot!!! Noise from gravel mine will drive you crazy after while, so choose your camping spot as far as possible from heavy machinery.

Great mount agung view with the savana land as the foreground. Really great for any kind of photo and video session or even just for fun with your friends. I suggest to come in the afternoon to get the best light and more relaxing. The pathway to this spot is quite hard, stone and dust everywhere. But unfortunately I’m afraid the land will be no longer exist since the local choose to dig up their land for the sand. Almost half of the savana land nearly gone. So sad to see that happen.

Pretty Savana that so unique, facing the magesty of Mount Agung. A secret spot for photography enthusiast. Very poor signage to reach this place. Many people can not find the correct directions and miss it out completly. Best time to take picture is at down till 9 am. Explorable by bike or a car.

The road to visit this place was a bit tough, but the view was worth it. The horses are wild horse so you need to be careful when you're around. Good time to visit: morning on sunrise. It was a raining when I went there but the view still amazing.

One of the most underrated place in Bali. It looks and feels like you’re in Sumba or South Australia. The view is really awesome but the road to go there is still bad and confusing so be careful guys 😆

Spent the night campervan in Savanah Tianyar and the view was spectacular. A must visit place when you travel to the east of Bali. The stars at nigh are scattered all over the sky. Be careful of the rocky roads. Many horses and cows owned by the locals.

The road is extreme to get here but the views are really beautiful, the green makes the eyes cool, it's really spacious, and there are lots of spots to take photos, come here for the THE JOURNEY concept💚

It's really hot here at 1pm. It's good to come here during the dry season, local residents say, in July-August, go there in the morning/evening, it's cooler and there are livestock such as cows and goats that are released. Suitable for a photo spot with the backdrop of Mount Agung. Pay to fill in the volunteer box. There are bathrooms, gazebos and ladies selling drinks and popmies. The access road here is damaged and there are no directions.

The place itself is beautiful and quite scenic, but lacks proper management from local government. There is no one managing the place as a tourist destination, almost all of the land is privately owned and has been set as a mining quarry. If weather permit, you can get amazing shot of Mount Agung and the picturesque hills of East Bali. Going there in the morning is recommended.

Halfway off the main path the road becomes gravel, however its worth the visit. Make sure to go there when the weather is clear and in the morning if you want to capture the mountains without the sun in your eyes!

Great place for riders who love touring with a motorbike. This place is also recommended for you who love camper vans. This wide savanna with a mount agung view is a perfect panorama

Savana Tianyar is a natural tourist destination that offers wide and spectacular views of the savana. The place is nice and the manager there is also friendly. The road to get there is not so easy, so you have to be careful while driving. Suitable for spot photos with a very beautiful background of Mount Agung. we can see horses directly, and take pictures with horses, but make sure the photo distance is a bit far for safety and security. There are also some traders there, so we can shop there to quench our thirst because of the hot weather. I suggest when visiting bring a hat or jacket to reduce the heat.

The sun was super hot. You will see no water anywhere except if you buy it on warung. I suggest you come after 4:30 pm so you'll see a different perspective of this Savana, especially the light of the sun on Gunung Agung.

Vast grass field with Mount Agung stand in the background. Surreal place and atmosphere. Unfortunately we were there right in the middle of the blazing hot El Nino weather, so we decided not to explore further.

Breathtaking view, around 2-3 hours drive from Denpasar, if you're looking something different maybe this is the place i recommend coming at dawn-early morning or 15-20 minutes before sunset

    Good view

You can't really call it a savana. It's just a huge grass field with a very clear view of Mt Agung. It's nice for a photoshoot, but you can't really expect anything there. Poor village with unpaved roads. A lot of sand-mining activities. A local villager asked me to pay Rp10,000 per person to take a photo here.

I agree if anyone says this is a piece of Africa in Bali. Breathtaking 360 degrees view, and I think the best time to visit is in early mornings or near sunset time since the sun really compliments the landscape. You will still see some locals in the area and I believe there's a small warung near this savana. A little tip: If you don't know the area very well, I advise to take the route via amed, since the road through the forest (connected to Besakih) have very bad internet connection (or at least download the map).

The road here from the main road is really not that good - stretches of sand and unstable gravel, avoid going there with a scooter. The view is nice, but you can get similar views with easier access.

👍👍 Out of 3 savanas in Karangasem area, personally I like Nusu better than Tianyar or Tulamben. Good access for car, amazing view (you can see ocean, savana & mountain!), not crowded with tourists. To feel savana vibe, come during dry season. If you come on rainy season like I did last time, the savana...
