Snorkeling at the USAT Liberty was fantastic! Lots of fish and coral growing on the shipwreck. Great place to do an explore dive or just snorkel. Current isn’t too strong and there are plenty of reasonably priced local places to rent equipment or to get a guide.

Incredible, must visit! We snorkelled a variety of places near Amed (Japanese Ship Wreck, Selang Beach, Jemeluk Bay, Coral Garden). This spot was the highlight! Easy to swim out from the shore (about 30 metres). Ask a local or another tourist for the location. Parking for scooters is almost on the beach (if you navigate to the shipwreck). You will leave the main road and pass volleyball courts, keep left, and drive down a rough bit of road onto the beach. There is a building (maybe a dive shop) at the parking. Walk past this building, going left along the beach (when looking at the sea). Walk about 10 metres past the building and swim straight out 30 metres to see the wreck. Water was clear and we saw so much underwater life, including a huge turtle.

Very easy shore dive. The coral is wicked torn up and there were plastic bags and trash everywhere in the water column in mid March. OTOH, we saw loads of critters; octopus, 3 turtles, a mantis shrimp, loads of garden eels and many fish types. Many pretty corals survive the abuse of the place. Excellent beginner spot bc of easy entry, gentle drop off. Looks like it could be wicked crowded in the busy season.

Best dive site I've ever been to (including the great barrier reef!) It is impossible not to enjoy the diving when there is so much to see! We saw 2 octopi, 2 turtles, tons of fish, beautiful coral! The visibility was fantastic, and the wreck is so close to shore so you don't have to waste a bunch of air getting to it! It's absolutely amazing, lots of things to see and some fun swim through opportunities. The wreck is all broken up so there's not really any "inside" to go into, but you can definitely swim through lots of different parts and live your little mermaid dreams! And definitely keep an eye out on the sand on the way out and back for the tiny little finger eels popping out! So much fun! Also huge shout out to the staff carrying the tanks back and forth on their heads! It was seriously impressive!

I do love this dive site, just my bad luck that, visibility is not so good to enjoy all the wreck. But fishes are really big & colorful, even i can meet the Napoleon, sharks,… here. Do recommend!

Definitely a must visit dive site. Although the day I visited this place the visibility wasn’t very great, it’s still amazing to see this big wreck and explore around the area. I am an OW diver and this is an easy spot to dive because it’s warm and no current. Some animals like giant parrot fish are everywhere and the corals are lao beautiful. I also saw an electric clam and many other beautiful creatures.

Cool dive place and location, maybe the best scuba dive place in Bali that worth visiting. The access is from the shore and its not very easy since there are a lot of stones getting in but the trip worth it. Temperature was around 29 C and with a 3 m wetsuit I did t face any issues. The visibility and clarity is greate and you will have the opportunity to see a lot of marine life like turtles crabs and tropical fishes. Max depth is around 29 meters deep but you don’t need to go all the way down to admire the underwater landscape.

One of the best site to dive undersea and enjoy the sight of active marine life. The dive goes around a Ship Wreck which was then the US Army Cargo shop torpedoed by Japanese Submarine. One of the best place to see corals, colorful fishes and get haunted from the deep blue beneath.

Totally overrated. Unfortunately, many Chinese tourists who do not even know how to swim and do not have a licence are dragged around underwater here. Unfortunately, you can clearly see the damage caused by these vertical buoys. It breaks your heart to watch these people. There is a lot of broken coral lying around. It's a real shame that the diving centres actively organise this.

This is one of popular dive sites in Bali. 130 meter wreck with healthy marine life. School of Bumpheads, GT, and many macros to name a view. If you're lucky, expect to see mola² or whale shark. Paradise for divers

Great place to dive. Beach entry but pebble beach so be careful when loaded up with full scuba gear! Can easily snorkel there too, just swim over from the beach.

Was really nice place, but at the moment the waves are quite big, so it’s kinda difficult to snorkel, there’s still some divers jump in and i think it would be nice if you can dive. Entrance fee is 20k rupiah.

Nice spot for shipwreck diving 😘😘😘 Shore entry. 20-30 m in depth. Water visibility 10m💕💞 Nice corals & varieties of coral fishes. Can also see Mt Agong, the active volcano from the Shore.

Very nice dive spot. You can do shore and wreck diving here. It was my first experience of shore diving. The coral and under water dive was amazing. You can dive up to 30 meters here. The wreck was amazing.

One of the best scuba diving experiences I've ever had. It was amazing swimming through the wreck.. fortunately came during the off season so basically had it to ourselves !

INCREDIBLE, amazing scuba diving site. Rich with tropical fish, coral and cool shipwreck. Beautiful setting surrounded by volcanic soil from Mt Agung, coconut palm trees and volcanic stones. Only negative is shore diving can be tricky due to slippery rocks which may up the entire beach front which are hard to navigate without falling over in full kit.

Insanely cool diving experience. So many amazing fish and coral and the ship is so interesting to explore

Great shore dive. The wreck is a nice dive with plenty to see. Take a couple of dives to explore it! The shore entry can be a little tricky if there are waves because it's a boulder shore which is hard on feet and ankles. But, the staff are very helpful at getting people in and out.

I heard that some fish are gone. The pandemic destroys many things. There must be a way to call them back and keep them alive peacefully. Coral planting looks seriously managed.

We came here with Eco dive company. It was our first wreak dive & it was awesome! The viability was perfect. Loved going through all the pass throughs in the ship. Only about 50 meters off the shore. You need to dive this spot before leaving Amed.

Fantastic dive site. The wreck is slowly being reclaimed by the sea. There is still plenty of the ship still in tact. Access is only a short drive from Amed. Wreck is accessed via rocky beach entry. Can be difficult due to rounded rocks and waves. Wreck is only a very short swim from shoreline. This place can be super, super busy. Many divers in the water. Locals sell dive tee shirts, hats, jewellery on site. Tea, coffee also available. Good toilet facilities. A definite dive site to visit.

Went snorkelling here. You can take your own equipment or rent a mask and fins there. Less current at high tide. Stony beach be careful. There is a clear area with benches where everyone enters the water. Enter there and then swim left 50-100 metres and the wreck is easily visible from the surface. Very little current when I was there. Warm water when I was there in September. Top notch snorkelling. Apparently there are turtles but I didn't see them.

Incredible shipwreck that you can just swim out to yourself from the beach, if you have your own snorkel then all you need to do is pay 2000 for entrance. Recommend going in the morning as well as would be less busy and the water was unbelievably clear!

It was a great time spending in USAT Liberty Wreck at Tulamben. 2 hours driving from Denpasar. A must visit place in Bali. So if you have spare time and want to dive in Bali, just put your wetsuit and tank then dive. It's not that far from tge shore, and from 5m depth you'll find the ship wrec.

  • 5/5 anglin m. 3 years ago on Google
One of diving site with wreckship in Indonesia. For beginner, it may a little hard or painful, since the dive entry is from the shore and Tulamben beach is full of rocks! Beware of the rocks, you may hurt yourself or get falling. The current is mild to medium, maybe a little hard for using fins and enter the water. But underwater you'll find shipwrecks and many fishes. If you want to see some bumpheads, go dive in the morning, around 6 am.

t was surprising that the US Liberty was wrecked so close to shore, but then again, perhaps it was drug here from sinking in deeper waters. It was a very nice dive in and around the ship. There were a few semi-tight places, but nothing really scary or confining. Too bad I didn't have my underwater camera with me.

  • 5/5 Olyaver T. 3 years ago on Google
Although this place is mostly for diving, you can snorkel here as well. The wreck isn't far away from the shore. Ticket is 20kr, including shower. You can rent gear and fins here (we bargained to get fins for 20kr/pax)
