Our first take out dinner from Ames Pizza Ranch was more than disappointing. By far the worst delivery meal we have experienced. I have never seen food like this on their buffet in Ames, IA. They did send more biscuits but we were done eating when they arrived.

Wouldn't recommend going @8pm to eat at any Pizza Ranch (I've eaten at quite a few due to travel for work) anywhere. Due to Covid, there's never many people there at that time, so the pizza usually looks kind of dried out as do many other hot items. Cold items are fine. Did have a pizza made fresh and it was great! Loved the fresh Iowa corn and the chocolate syrup to top your ice cream. First Ranch I've been to that had this ice cream topping. Makes the plain ice cream taste better. Love The Ranch & usually eat a lot earlier in the day when the food is refreshed faster. Surprised that they don't require wearing gloves, like in Wisconsin, but have a sign telling you to use hand sanitizer frequently to prevent the spread. Huge game room that is well lit & clean with games for everyone. WHY did they stop making the chocolate dessert pizza??

Food was very Fresh. Staff was awesome. Silverware was clean. Unfortunately my wife and I were only able to have one plate from the buffet I waited for the fresh requested pizza to come out and when it arrived we were asked to move because someone reserved the room we were seated in. The server politely asked us to move. We were a big party ourselves 5 kids and 6 adults. I just wouldn't of spent 32.00 on 2 pieces of pizza and two drinks had I known everyone was going to leave instead of moving into a different area they had they're fill while we waited on fresh pizza. Huge Cudos on everything except I left hungry 😂.

We noticed a waiter working so hard and non stop. I had to ask his name Nyjaveous was AWESOME. The chicken and salad bar was great. Everything was fresh. Didn't try the pizza.

Honestly one of the most tasteless pizzas I've ever had. Only two of the 6 I tried had a flavor, and the two flavors I had were burned pepperoni and hot wing sauce. The kids thought the mac and cheese was disgusting, and they love that stuff. Wife loves bbq pizza and she could not get past the first bite. I've had good experiences at various pizza ranch establishments, this was not one, even without mentioning the exorbitant prices, $52 for a family of four with two young kids.

As far as restaurants go it's pretty good. But compared to other pizza ranch locations it's decent at best. It's small, kinda dirty, and didn't keep the buffet well stocked. It's decent but nothing real special.

I like this place and mostly am pleased with it. During my last visit, I was there for about an hour and they didn't bring any new pizzas out during that hour. We were stuck with what was there when we arrived (and they all had onions on them).

Lots of different fresh pizzas out on the buffet. The chicken was hot and fresh. Price may have been just a touch high, but it was all good, and I will go back again!

Pizza ranch always has the best customer service! And how can you go wrong with all you can eat buffet, made to order pizza, and now a game/ arcade room. I love that they added stuffed crust pizza to the menu, its so good especially on the mac and cheese pizza!

Definitely a great place to stop on your way through Ames. Easy to hop on and off the highway and fill up. Be ware it is greasy! Great place for anyone who needs something gluten free. They put the gluten free pizza on a clean pan with parchment paper!

11.99 for a small pizza. It was delivered for 3.50 plus my $5 dollar tip. Paid more than 20 bucks for Aa delivered “small.” Was almost jokingly horrrible. If it weren’t my dinner, it would have been hilarious.

At first it seemed like it would be a pleasant experience! We sat down, got a plate of food from the buffet and then…..it happened!! A large MOUSE ran across the floor by the fountain drinks! My husband and I immediately lost our appetites! I went to find someone and finally an employee came out. I told him what had happened and he went to get a manager. The manger asked us to show him and claimed they’ve never seen any grace of mice. Told me he would call an exterminator and then disappeared………… I literally spent almost $40 (including a veteran’s discount)for two of us and couldn’t even eat!! The “manager” disappeared and never once offered to compensate our meal……we didn’t even get to eat! We had been in the building approximately 10 minutes when our meal was ruined by a mouse!! Needless to say, we won’t be returning to the Ames location!

Is pretty much what you'd expect from a pizza buffet. Food was pretty good and seemed to be brought out fresh pretty consistently. Everything was clean, and employees were polite. A fun place to take kids, but probably not a date night destination. Maybe a little on the pricey side for adults, but pretty cheap for young kids. Hard say anything bad about all you can eat ice cream.

It's pretty good for a buffet. They brought out fresh pizza consistently. The restaurant was clean. They have a decent salad bar. You can also get chicken, potatoes, chili, and ice cream, to name a few. Overall, I was impressed with it being a buffet.

I was at your Ames location this morning. Someone brought in donuts for our group & was informed your new policy was no outside food because you did not want to lose revenue from selling food. This is poor policy for a restaurant. Restaurants rely on keeping their customers happy. The only thing restrictions like this accomplish is 'ticking off' people. When customers are ticked off, a) they stop being your customers & b) they tell anyone who will listen why they do not want to go to your restaurant [who tell other people, etc.] To make matters more ludicrous, donuts are not a food item that Pizza Ranch sells. [Donut holes are not donuts.]

Excellent, Excellent food. Everything was hot and fresh. Very good salad bar. The young man at the register was just a delight!!! The young man bussing tables did an excellent job picking up plates from the table right away. Very satisfied with our visit

This place will go down in my family’s lore as one of the greatest dining experiences of our collective lifetimes. We had been stranded for days trying to drive to family Christmas in the middle of bomb cyclone Elliot. We had no way to get anywhere to eat so we bundled up and walked through negative 40 degree wind chill to the only restaurant on the block. Pizza ranch. We arrived with eyelids frozen shut, shocked to find it not only open, but buffet fully stocked. As we were the only guests, the manager asked for any specific pizza requests, and he made us everything we wanted fresh. We didn’t expect good food, we just wanted some warmth and something in our bellies. But the buffet was mind blowing. And there was an arcade in the back?? The kids went wild when we found out. We stayed for hours, giddy. To call it a religious experience is underselling it. We’ve talked about making a yearly pilgrimage.

Went there today and paid $18 for a buffet that had dried up old pizza I was there for almost an hour and never seen them bring out a new pizza. The group that was with us order a special pizza but came out at the very end as everyone was leaving. Chicken was cold. Mashed potatoes were OK. Mac n Cheese was runny, disgusting, AND cold like everything else. Its called Pizza Ranch but I couldnt even get once slice of pizza while I was there.

They have definitely improved. We ordered three large pizzas and 12 piece chicken. I have always found there chicken to be good, but there pizza has been somewhat less than par. This last time we ordered, there pizza was great! Keep up the good work.

Garbage! We got there around four. The salad bar needed attention. Mostly cleaned up. The pizza was so so because they were trying to play catch up. There was four dried up wings for chicken! I asked, he said its cooking. So we ate salad and some pizza. Still no chicken. The mashed taters were dried up and grey in color. Had to stir up gravy. Stuffing was good. Still no chicken. No desert pizza. And the place was a mess. Under the booth next to us looked like a pig pen. I decided to complain after we ate some food, no chicken. The manager was frazzled. Short on help. Same story as everywhere. My question...where were the owners?? Obviously they werent.there to help run the business!! Its too bad. We used to enjoy Pizza ranch. But we wont be for a while.

A coworker and I had the buffet. Everything was fresh and tasted great! We both had salad, pizza, breadsticks , fried chicken and sides . I will return to this location! ( pics to be uploaded)

Pizza is always good, great selection on the buffet. We were there to celebrate my son's birthday so after we ate we stopped into arcade for a bit of fun.

Myself, my significant other, and both of my children went here for the buffet. We arrived about an hour and 15 minutes before close. We were told once we paid that the buffet would be shutting down soon, and that we would need to get everything we wanted to eat right away so they could close it down. Odd, but ok. Well, the young man working the front counter reminded of this about 5 times throughout our visit, which I found to be incredibly annoying. We did, however, have a very nice lady offer to cook some fresh chicken for us and she also made two fresh pizzas. The problem here is that I paid 70+ dollars to eat there and showed up over an hour before close. The guy working the front counter made me and mine feel very rushed. Also, the food that was on the buffet when we arrived seemed like it had been out there awhile. Also, multiple times throughout our 30 minutes dining experience, a different lady kept looking out of the back area and was giving us nasty looks and making annoyed sounds. Up until this point, I enjoyed pizza ranch. However, this last experience has changed my mind. The price of this place has never bothered me in the past, but I refuse to pay that much money to be rushed and treated like anannoyance .

We arrived just after opening at 11am. We had the best chicken ever! It was so good we skipped the pizza this trip The store was clean, the employees were extremely friendly, and food was delicious!

A favorite with my kids because there's a good variety. The salad bar is always well stocked and the pizza is delicious. Courteous staff that are also easy to talk to when my kids get chatty. Love it here

This was the first time my mother-in-law ate at this place. I always told her how good the fried chicken is. The pizza is also good when it is fresh. Very nice staff.

Very disappointing for what we got. 2 senior buffets $31.00. Visited supper hour, 3 half pizzas on warmer dry and rubbery, nothing fresh. Salad bar lettuce tub empty. Chicken overcooked, dry and rubbery (leftover from lunch?). Baked beans dried out and pastey. No coffee!! Had to ask a server, he said he could make some. Got our coffee when we were ready to leave. No vanilla ice cream. Could understand if busy but they were not! Many, many tables dirty.

Always quality pizza and wings. I typically get boneless wings. They rarely give you the 8 or 16 their menu states; you often get more. Sometimes you will get 8 large wings. Most often you will get 10-12 small to medium wings. Yesterday I received at least 20-25 tiny to small wings, definitely more total chicken than 8 large wings. Was great for nibbling while I worked. And they are still good the next day, for continued nibbling.

Chicken is always fresh and hot. Salad bar is also great with many items to choose from. Pizza is made exactly as you want. Great atmosphere!

The food here was very good and fresh. The staff was awesome. For as busy as they were the tables were very well kept up and for the most part the restaurant was clean. One of the top 3 Pizza Ranchs I've been in.

Quite possibly the worse dining experience I have endured in my 69 years of living. The cashier was incompetent and acted like she couldn't care less about our business. She probably needs to be redirected and trained in better people skills. The manager (alleged) was okay and he was fairly accommodating. We were there for veteran's day and, we were able to have half off our dinner but, even that was too expensive for the quality of food. Not a single pizza was labeled and, none of the other foods were either. The serving temperatures cause the food to be way less than hot. The fried chicken looked burnt and, the other foods didn't look very good. This is a franchised store so, it's obvious corporate couldn't care less. Neither could the owners. Surely by the time we got there for our first (and last) visit, all the kinks and bugs should have been taken care of.. Would I recommend this Pizza Ranch? Not until they have undergone a complete restoration. For the record, I am not doing this to get a free meal. I'm doing this hopefully

Ordered freshmade Take & Bake pizzas for Christmas Eve pizza party, huge hit. Easy to bake. All my east coast guests raved about the thin crust & generous toppings. They couldn't believe the great price either. Will do this again for future parties!
