Management clearly does not care about the gym or it’s members. The gym is regularly opened hours late due to staff not showing up, multiple pieces of equipment have been out of order for 6+ months, and the gym itself is in need of repair (damaged/water stained ceilings and floors). A waste of your time and money to go here

This place has gone downhill at a surprisingly fast rate of speed. I have been a member here for several years now, since it was LA Fitness. I go in the morning and it never fails that things are a mess. The free weight area is a disaster with plates and dumbbells scattered throughout the area. The basketball court has garbage in it from the day before, as you can see in the pics. A lot of the machines are broken and take several weeks to fix. This past week, nobody showed up to open the gym at 5am, so people were just sitting in their cars in the lot for at least 30 mins waiting for an employee to show up and open the place (it may have been longer, but I left). Once my contract is up in a couple months, I'll be looking for a new gym to join. It's disappointing.

I worked out at Esporta for around 1 month and I do not agree with a lot of negative reviews. The gym is pretty good in terms of its machines and trainer. I was able to gain 4 pounds of muscle mass by training 2 hours a day for 6 days a week for just 1 month so you do need to put in the work. They will provide you with all the machines you need to build muscles. That said, I'm taking 2 stars from my review because 1. I originally signed up for personal training with Dylan and I really liked him but he got fired for some reason and other trainers were not as good as him. 2. The trainers I had was Olivia, Kayla, and Nate. I think they are okay. If you are just starting out and are complete beginner, then they will certainly help but I had to do lot of online research by myself and buy courses to master my workout routine. 3. I got charged extra $200 for personal training and it was a hassle to cancel the subscription. I did not knew that I signed up for an annual contract and I only needed 1 month of personal training. I had to mail new proof of address (the new proof of address is also very specific as they didn't took my job offer for relocation) to cancel the subscription. I don't really know if they will refund me $150 for the remaining training sessions I have with them. If they do, I will increase rating to 4 stars :) 4. Joseph who was the main manager who signed me up for personal training got fired so it was hassle to communicate everything again to the new manager. Hence, please do pay full attention to terms and conditions of personal training you are signing up for. Overall, it is not a bad gym, I think management can be improved a little bit :)

Decent enough gym, the hours are bad, closing an hour early is very inconvenient especially since I like to workout late at night when not many people are around. The reason for the two stars is the fact that 40% of their equipment is broken and takes several weeks for them to repair it. Last time I went there, it took me 15 minutes to find a machine that is not out of service or broken. It is unfortunate since many beginners need machines before moving to free weights.

I got a membership to use their racquetball courts. I like being able to book the courts online. Plus I pay extra to bring 2 guests. Apparently other guests hold a league here several times a week from 6pm -9pm, and they don't need to make a reservation and book a court like everyone else. The worst part is that this does not reflect on the app or the website. So even when I have a confirmation stating that I have the court reserved. I talked to the person at the front desk and they said they do not have a way to block it off, and that the league has those booked. I wouldn't be upset if those times were blocked off, which they could easily do by making the guests book the times they want to use it. I will unfortunately be cancelling my membership and looking to play elsewhere since the only reason I signed up was to play.

My experience signing up is that the man who helped me was very condescending about my weight and pushing so hard for me to sign up and pay for more things I didnt need and want, it was almost like manipulative. Then, I went in today to cancel my membership as I am moving across the country, and they tell me I have to drive 30 minutes out of my way to talk to the operations manager there since they dont have one here, just to cancel my membership. Thats extremely inconvenient, considering I have so much on my plate. Why dont you make it easier for people to cancel memberships? I will not be living here anymore. I usually dont leave bad reviews but I already drove out of my way to come cancel it here just to be turned away and sent even further away. My experience at this place overall 1/10

Gets the job done at the right price, unfortunately half the machines tend to be out of service. There is lack of cleanliness in the men’s locker room/bathroom (smells like R Kelly’s sheets) and the weight area looks like a tornado blew through it but that’s really not the fault of the staff but rather the inconsiderate patrons who have no respect for others in a public space (most people don’t re-rack weights, people take up equipment they aren’t using for their “super set”, people take up machines to Snapchat their workout instead of working out, etc.). My biggest complaint is they aren’t open the full day on weekends as someone who works on weekends often I end up loosing out on my workout. I’m just hoping they’ll switch to a 24hr setup eventually so it’s easier to avoid it when it’s crowded

Have been a member here for a long time, unfortunately it is not good! Went back after not going because of Covid and it was not the same gym as before. The facility was pretty dirty and nothing worked. The front door had one functioning door! The sauna glass door was shattered and was covered with cardboard and a out of order so go. They got rid of a lot of machines and a lot were broken. Many water fountains did not work. In the mens locker room they had big busted looking boxes and some cleaning supplies on the counter in the sink/mirror area. Very dirty. The hot tub had about 8 people in it and that was probably the max amount allowed. I immediately cancelled my membership!

I just want to share that I made this account to mostly compliment businesses, not destroy them. However, Esporta has left me with such a bad taste in my mouth that I feel the need to explain things. First off, I wish I could give ZERO stars, but unfortunately that is not an option. I signed up for this gym DEC 17 2022, Telling them that I wanted something for 3 months or so since I would be moving. Next thing you know, Mr “real estate gym memebership guy” comes over and tells me the minimum contract is 3 months, when it is actually 4. (Probably does this in his real estate career with interest rates) So not only do I drive to Esporta to cancel my membership March 17, but I find out I have another MONTH of payments. I asked when is the first day I can come back to cancel, the front desk person replied April 17. Let’s fast forward to April 17 shall we. First off it’s a Monday; I work Monday’s so I get to Esporta at 630pm. Apparently this is too late for the manager to ‘cancel any contracts’ and I have to come back tomorrow April 18.(nobody gave me 9-5 manager time slot). SO- I leave work early April 18 so I can get there at 430 to FINALLY cancel my memebership and hopefully get my refund for the month I won’t be using. To my displeasure, when I arrived the manager had already left early due to “his dog getting sick”. Now I love dogs, In fact I have 2 myself. I just don’t pass financial distress to other people when they have a problem, ya dig? Anyway- worst gym I have ever been a part of. I’m stuck paying for 2 extra months due to a lying low-ball salesman, and a sick dog. I hope you guys turn things around because you’re on the way to becoming the next LA s***ness

Amazing gym! The staff is super friendly and helpful. The equipment is plentiful and well organized and clean. They have a lap pool, hot tub and dry sauna also. Kaitlin the GM showed me around and gave me a warm welcome. You can’t go wrong if you live in the area and want an all around workout. They are equipped with everything you need. Also racquetball,, basketball and exercise class rooms. Huge place! I love it and would highly recommend to any of all ages.

Consistently dirty, nobody puts their weights back or cleans, always packed, multiple weight and cardio machines are broken. Very trashy gym. Do NOT give them your number if you’re going as a guest, they will call and text you nonstop.

Rude and incompetent staff, anyone can walk through the door. More than a few times have things been stolen out of the locker room with locks cut. Good luck using cardio equipment seems like half of the equipment is broken. Even scarier is that some aren't labeled.

Starting to wonder who at corporate is paying people for these 5 star ratings. This location has about 9 working treadmills out of at least 30/40 and they BARELY work. The one I was using last time was shaking as I walked to the point I thought it was going to tip over. I watched a guy almost get hurt because his treadmill completely stopped mid workout for no reason. The worker came over and reset it but didn't put a sign on it or anything so I'm sure it happened again. Two others I used were so LOUD I couldn't hear my own music at the loudest setting. Between this location and the Union Rd location, Esporta is the absolute worst.

Disgusting club. Very dirty. Not cleaned regularly. Lifeguards don't lifeguard at all. Pools and Sauna are often closed due to maintenance or not enough staff. Smells of marijuana; especially near the service desk. I tried to cancel and was sent an email that wants me to print out and snail mail my cancellation all the way to California. Staff isn't helpful and are often scrolling away on social media. STAY AWAY!

Not only do you pay a premium to go to this gym. The hours a terrible. On top of that they lock the door 30 mins before they close like tonight i got here at 9:20 and was locked out, I rushed all the way here because I thought I had 30 mins which is plenty of time for me to do my work out BTW. And they get a attitude when someone's let's you in. i pay 29.99 for what? How do you get a attitude when all you do is sit behind the desk on your phone the hole time.

Would expect this place to be top notch given it’s located in Amherst. Unfortunately it’s not. Machines are down scheduled for maintenance for weeks, sauna down for maintenance for days. What are we paying for here? My customer service experiences have been unpleasant thus far, tried to overlook it but it’s worth noting that whoever trained the salespeople here doesn’t have much regard for professionalism, at all. I noticed my card was charged twice when I signed up & when I asked politely to have it corrected the comment “it’s only 5 bucks” was made back to me, I don’t care if it’s 10 cents, you don’t say that to a customer. All other locations were able to make it known on the Esporta app that they were closed due to inclement weather on 11/19 but Amherst did not, so I wasted my time driving there to find the doors locked. Honestly just clearly a poorly run business overall and I can’t respect a business that does not respect or value it’s customers. I’ve heard good things about Catalyst so I’ll check them out.

When you cancel your membership they will charge you one extra month just for nothing. I do not know if they will refund to me. BTW the locker room and toilet are smelly and gross. Half treadmills are in bad condition. Find another place to work out.

The men’s restroom, especially the toilets, is never clean. At any given time, there’s at least 3 pieces of equipment “temporarily” out of service. Contactless check in stopped working. Staff is generally friendly and it’s rarely overcrowded.

The gym is cool. But from a customers perspective most people want to pay their monthly fee and workout, that’s it. We don’t want to be called all the time. If someone needs help with their work out they’ll most likely ask. Me personally I work and can’t understand why someone will be calling me multiple times a day to tell me about a wellness program I never expressed interest in. Food for thought stop calling people.

They just got rid of all of the paper towels and cleaning spray on the floor. Now there’s a box of wipes promoting their training. I’ve never seen anyone here use their trainers. I tried setting my initial session with Nate and he has 0 value of people’s time. First time he cancels saying he has to train someone else because a trainer called out, the he showed up 25 mins late. At no point does he call to push my time. Gym is clean for the most part. Someone could give a scrub to the foot pads on things like the elliptical.

They have a pool and they have a basketball court. Everything else is basically the same as every other gym. The basics plus all the rooms for spin class and zumba and yoga. They also have rope and some sports fitness equipment. They also have a day care for tiny tots. Pretty solid place just a bit cramped and a bit small. If you're looking for a solid gym without the extra fluff, this is your gym.

Needs brand new gym equipment and working treadmills always stop midway into workout and so do the bikes they shout themselves down and discontinue I like rolling hills workouts when the level get harder then the machine shout down. Chest press machines been broken for a full year now that's why we pay maintenance fees and enhancement fees!

My gf experienced very scummy behavior from a man at this location. A free 3-day trial Zumba class was held at this location. My gf attended one day and was asked if she was ready to sign up by a man. When my gf said she needed more time to think about it, the man viciously said "We let you do a Zumba class for free don't you think that's messed up?"

They lure you into buying the membership but you will be stuck for at least 4 months. You will end up paying more than 200 dollars in the first 4 months. Make sure you make it worth your money.

We recently joined here. We liked how there was a Kid's Klub and went with our kids a few times. However, on a particular evening there were probably 15 kids (or more, it was hard to tell), and one worker. When we signed up as members I was assured that their would be floaters in the building to help assist the worker with childcare if it got busy. Needless, to say there wasn't, after we requested for someone else to go in. So, we decided to take our kids home, since the worker was clearly overwhelmed, our kids were getting shoved and bullied (they are under 4 yrs old), and we didn't feel our kids were safe. We mentioned it to Andrew who assured us that he'd talk to corporate and call us back, he never has, it's been weeks. They apparently have no cap for the amount of children in there. They don't comply by any NY State standards or ratios or anything that I can see. The age range is 6months- 12 yrs old. Kids Klub aside, the machines are often broken. I've gone three times/week since we've joined and the treadmills are unsafe, loud, broken, and unstable. Please fix your machines, get your Kid's Klub in order (more workers, some rules of safety, turn people away, pay workers more etc.) I'm debating cancelling our membership because it's ridiculous and unsafe. Even going without my children, I still feel improvements must be made.

ESPORTA has been amazing to me. I have gone here throughout my four years as a UB student and wouldn’t change anything. They have everything someone would need to stay healthy and happy. Caitlin the general manager has helped me with any financial assistance I needed and with any questions I had about the gym. This is an amazing gym to be apart and stands out amongst other gyms. If you are looking for a gym that makes you a better person physically and mentally this is the gym for you!

  • 5/5 Christopher M. 1 year ago on Google
Seth and Andrew are great. They sat down with me and covered my goals, took my body fat and really made being there a better experience than any gym I’ve EVER been too. They do walks and re rack weights to make sure the gym stays clean. They really care! Advise you to look no where else!!

My 17 year old son signed up in January for a month to month membership for 39.00 per month. At the time he signed up, he was assured by the staff that he could cancel at any time. The facility was first class but within a two months my son had found out through his friends that a comparable membership was available at Catalyst fitness for half the price. My son canceled the membership at the Sheridan location and believed everything was good and the auto billing would discontinue. Regrettably the auto billing continued for another two months. When my son inquired about this error, he was told that Esporta had a policy of a minimum 4 month membership and further more he had to send in a cancelation request to the main office to finalize the cancelation. Talking to the national customer support Esporta folks, the local manager and requesting a refund from the area general manger produced a regurgitation of the same policy that had never been communicated at the point of sale. Bottom line, this particular esporta location failed to adequately communicate their somewhat unreasonable cancellation policy either by mistake or by design at the point of sale and refused to make it right after it was brought to their attention. In all fairness, catalyst fitness also has you jump through hoops to cancel your membership but at least they make their policy crystal clear at the point of sale.

The incompetency of this entire staff from the regional manager to the workers is unbelievable. I had my items stolen here on 11/08 and reported it to the front desk. They took my name and number and said they will let his manager Liz know which never happened. I checked back 11/17 just because the manager didn’t offer any follow up or even contacted me to find out what occurred. When I asked front desk Ms Sara was like oh she probably didn’t contact you because nothing was found. Thank you for caring. You guys suck. The end.

I really love the location/people of this gym and when you are lucky on a good day - the gym is wonderful! The problem is that you never know what you are walking in to. There is always something wrong in some way with the cardio machines. If you are lucky to find a treadmill that doesn’t make strange loud noises or an elliptical that actually lets you use the settings as designed, you’ll often find that the TVs do not work or the channels do not get signal. I love this gym and come daily but it gets frustrating having to search for a few select machines out of MANY to find one that works as designed. Please add more servicing and maintenance to the machines and TVs and this gym will easily be awesome!

I love this gym. The equipment is in good shape and the locker rooms are clean! There is a large selection of machines and free weights. They also have a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, basketball court, racket ball, treadmills, and much more. They even offer child care for an affordable price. Highly recommended, it's well worth the cost if you want a nice gym.

Matt the manager was inexperienced and unable to offer an appropriate solution. The employee before speaking with Matt hung up the phone to avoid offering a solution as well. These people steal your money. They tell you that you have to cancel in person. Then after you do that they act like you never cancelled and they still charge your card even when you aren't a member anymore! This is how these gym franchises survive. They take your CC information and charge you monthly whether you are an active member or not hoping you don't notice!

Just be careful when you are going to enroll at LA Fitness. Ask in details how much they are going to charge you every month. If they are offering a promotion that sounds cheap and tempting, just be careful to not fall in their trap.I was told that if I enroll under my friend’s name who was already a member, I wouldn’t pay for the annual fee. They said, I would only pay about $25 per month, and that was their explanation and nothing more. Afterwards, within a few hours I looked at my account and I was charged for about $54 for the monthly payment of the first and last month. Sadly, this wasn’t the only issue. After 2 months of going to the gym, I realized they charged me another $49 for the annual fee which in the beginning, they emphasized I wouldn’t get charged for it. Unfortunately, when I went to discuss about the issue, the operation manager was not helpful at all to help solving the problem. Unfortunately, I am leaving LA fitness not just because they charged me for what I was never told, but I am leaving for being deceived and treated unprofessionally by LA fitness. No NO to LA Fitness!!!

Facility is dirty and old equipment. I've been a member at BAC and now LA Fitness for 20 years but now have to cancel due to disgusting conditions. I've seen people getting sandwiches into the sauna and yes this person eats yogurt with her fingers every night and spills it on the bike. Staff refuses to enforce any policies about hygiene cleanliness.

The employees don’t care in the morning, they barely open the gym. The sauna isn’t ready until 2 hours after opening. The locker rooms are generally nasty. A good amount of equipment goes unrepaired. I just recently moved to the area and used to go to the transit LA fitness in the mornings. I miss it so much.
