Original & delicious! Very good place to come for local food. Place is a bit rough on the corners, but food is excellent. Falafel was best, they do it fresh on-site. Service is there just to get you food- on the rude side but efficient and everything works. Great experience!😊

Very over rated place , if the service improved you would got a better falafel place in Amman , the bad service turn all the good taste to rubbish... And contraversa , good service can turn bad taste to better ... In this restaurant you feel the frustration of the employees and they reflect this while throwing the dishes to your table and delaying the tea service or even not bringing at all or making big issue when asking for sugar etc. Either they are unpaid or forced to work there ... Can't understand this behavior... This should be very famous and the service should be in line with the quality of the food , you would expect a smile or nice word , but you get happy not been beaten by the stuff ... Shame ....

We went there because of the recommendations about the food and because it was not very touristic. On one side, I need to highlight that is a cheap place to eat with wide range of opening hours. On the other side, after having been several days in Jordan, the food quality is average and IMHO, too greasy (not only on the falafels, but as well in the quantity of oil in the plates). Additionally, and what is the worst part fort me, it is not the best hummus or falafels you can try in the country by far. Additionally, from the people we were in the restaurant, most of us were tourists. Wrapping up, cheap place, with wide range of opening hours and average food quality. I would give 3 stars and a half.

A well known place for falafels, filled with locals. More of a dingy place in an alley, don’t come expecting a fancy restaurant! There isn’t a menu (I don’t think) and the food is mostly sharing style starters rather than big meals, but you will definitely leave full. The food was really good, and very cheap. The food is vegetarian (and maybe even, vegan?) and the atmosphere is very chilled out. It’s quite popular and gets busy very quickly.

If you don't mind about tablecloth and formality, but want to have an authentic jordan food experience, this is the place for you! Modest and informal restaurant in the heart of downtown, serving delicious local food at a minimum price! The waiter is a kind guy and the service is excellent, very fast. We took falafel, two different hummus and two tea for 8 (EIGHT!!) JOD. That was absolutely delicious and memorable experience.

When in Rome be a Roman in Jordan if Hashem was good for the Royal family its good enough for me. I loved the whole experience there. I loved the local flavor that the food had.The food was great and delicious the place was packed with people. It was served quickly and waiter was great . Great food at a great price. The humus texture was fantastic . The falafel was cooked in fresh oil.

This is an excellent place, the food was really great and the service very fast. Our tour guide recommended this place and it was worth the price. It's located down town and in a good atmosphere. We ordered the mixes of plates and the hummus was so good. The toilets are located up stairs in a place you have to bend over halfway to use. Not in good condition. The rest is great.

Traditional food. Inexpensive. It was good. Particular atmosphere. You eat where the locals eat. Cash only and no menu available.

Hashem’s is a must-visit in Amman. It’s one of the most famous local restaurants. Prices are amazing and the food is fresh and delicious for traditional cheap food. They don’t have a menu so you have to know what you want. You need to try filafel, hummus or hummus with meat, tea with mint, and stuffed filafel.

Maybe a bit overrated, but still a place to eat. Not comfortable, just a step better than take away. Many locals and good to experience the local traditions. Foot was delitious and not that expensive

Delicious food! The portions are huge so order wisely to prevent food waste. They don’t talk a lot and are not super friendly but the service is fast and the quality of the food worth a visit for sure.

I tried this place after reading about it. The falafel & hummus were both very tasty. The hummus was among the best I tried. And yea he price was reasonable unlike the overpriced touristy restaurants. Recommend it

I was bit sceptical of coming here as the restaurant has "only" four stars, but I'm glad I did. The food was very good, with an amazing and fast service and for a reasonable price. They do not have menu, so just choose something from the picture, or get the traditional hummus which is amazing here. Definitely recommend to get local food and get a taste of a local culture with it.

Very popular with locals. Give 4 stars as the give no menu. You given a piece of paper to mark items on, but it provides little insight on what you are getting. Just get one of everything!

More than a restaurant, it is a Jordan experience. It is full of locals and it felt really authentic. This is not a classical restaurant, with menu. They mostly serve humus and falafel. You sit, they bring you whatever dishes they think appropriate and you eat. If you want something different you have to say so. They only have available what is on the list you can see in the photo. We had classic humus, a different kind of paste, which name I didn't get, falafel, bread, potato and eggs, and payed 5 jod for 2 people. Food is delicious. Service is fast. The place is not exactly romantic but as a great local vibe.

Go for the experience! You will see a very balanced mix of locals and tourists coming for the famous mezzes served here for a more than reasonable prices. There is no menu, food is served as it goes; simplicity is their motto. 🧆hummus with meat 🍴fast service 💵3/4 JD

This restaurant is a gem! The falafel is perfectly crispy and the hummus is deliciously creamy. The pita bread is soft and fresh, and the salad toppings are bursting with flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Whether you're a seasoned fan of Middle Eastern cuisine or a newcomer, you won't be disappointed by this restaurant's authentic and scrumptious offerings.

Delicious tasty food, served very quickly. Limited options including falafel, meat dishes, eggs with potato, foul (dish made from beans). I It was very reasonably priced with complementary tea. Simple and basic decor with lovely welcoming staff. Cheap and cheerful. Definitely worth a visit during your stay in Amman.

An iconic cafe in the city. Many rooms make up the restaurant, so if you're anywhere near the Hashem sign you'll be being served from the Hashem kitchen. No printed menu visible so I just ordered a selection of dishes. All were enjoyable and freshly prepared. Service was polite and efficient. Prices were cheap too.

Without a doubt the best hummus and Falafel I've ever had! Don't expect a fancy or very cosy restaurant. Hashem is efficient and fast with some very tasty food. All dishes were amazing accompanied by a nice glass of tea. The price for this quality food is unbeatable. By far the cheapest meal I've had in Jordan.

Nice falafels, crunchy and light. Hummus and foul were good too. We also enjoyed the tea. No menu. Just find a table as someone will come over to help you order food. You then pay at the counter in the middle of the restaurant when you're ready to go.

Food is good, price is affordable, HOWEVER, the price of food is not written on the menu, they often charge you more than original (basically they don't give enough change to you) Water should be 0.3 and soft drinks is 0.4 ( no zero sugar drinks) I tried hummus, falafel and egg with potatoes, they are pretty decent but would be better if they had pepper as well. They give you the bread 1-2 piece for free Although food was good, I am a bit unhappy with the dishonesty from the restaurant. Make sure you ask for the price before buying.

When you arrive you will be given a short list of the menu and you tick which items you want. You eat off the table with a plastic sheet on it and will enjoy every item off the menu. The dips are delicious and the bread is cooked very well. The price is excellent and overall you have a great dining experience. Enjoy!

If you're seeking a memorable experience, this place is a must-visit! You'll witness a harmonious blend of locals and tourists who flock here for the renowned mezzes offered at incredibly reasonable prices. Rather than a traditional menu, the food is served as it comes, embracing a motto of simplicity. Indulge in the delectable hummus with meat, and rest assured that the service is prompt and efficient. At just 3/4 JD, the value for money is exceptional. Don't miss out on this extraordinary culinary adventure!

I love the lively vibe and atmosphere. As soon as I walked in, the restaurant was buzzing with activities, loud, and people waiting for an open table. There's no organization at all, but that's part of the attraction. I heard so many good things about this place. It's highly recommended by my Airbnb host. Even my taxi driver said it's good Jordanian food. Fast, rich, tasty, popular with the locals and tourists. It's cheap and won't break your budget. I love the falafel and hummus with meat.

Very good restaurant to go to to get a taste of Jordan. The three times I've been here I've never been presented with a menu or an option of what to eat, instead the server asks me how hungry I am and brings out falafel, hummus, foul, and tea, and all of it is delicious.

A must when in downtown. Captures the spirit of old Amman with it's generosity and simplicity. Best Falafel you'll have when in downtown. Getting a table can be a challenge. It is a must visit in Amman...an authentic place in the middle of the down town... Food is tasty... service is fast... good portions relative to price... Hashem is the place to have a great breakfast, lunch or dinner...however i would avoid on a weekend evening...

This is one of the most famous restaurants in Jordan. The falafel is delicious here

Obviously very well known restaurant in Amman. Visited by locals and tourists, in large amounts. Reasons to come here are plenty: service is quick, staff is friendly and plenty, food is tasty and the atmosphere is a busy, happy vibe. I don’t know it it’s the best food to be had in Amman, as some reviews state, I do know it’s a fun place to come and eat for a reasonable price. I have to mention the falafels though, wouldn’t mind having an extra go at those.

Is kebab here? - no, only vegetarian food😁 - ok, thanks, yalla bye... Thank you for the kebab commemoration on your visit the next day😄😄 Everything was delicious even without meat😇

Very nice and cozy restaurant. You’ll get served excellent food really fast and the price is cheap. Less than 4-5 JD for a full meal. But beware not to order too much. I never managed to finish 2 dishes. 5/5 stars. You really should eat here at least once when visiting Amman.

Top notch. I initially considered this as a light bite. However, I did not realize until it was taking my capacity to the fullest. I like the falafel and the hummus combined with olive oil, it is super tasty 🤤

Strange but fine place, especially for hipsters 😉, more fast food than restaurant, but if you don't mind plastic bags as tablecloths you will get simple but very tasty food served by nice and very honest waiters.

foreigners will enjoy it more than Arabs because we always have these meals available to us in our countries. Staff aren't welcoming.

Always busy, Amman's classic. I've eaten there many times and never got disappointed. Prices are very affordable.

After short stay in Amman we opted to have a simple breakfast where locals are eating Let me tell you what; aside from the confusion between some of the pictures of the restaurant and how it really looks like , it was a good experience 👍🏽affordable plates ; one hummus , one foul plate, one falafel plate and two black tea “giant mugs” I might add - that cost was 3.5 JOD 👍🏽simple in-out 👍🏽delicious hummus “chickpeas” 👍🏽amazing and tasty Flafel I gave her it 4 stars instead of five was for the below : 👎no clear pricing and no menu 👎no free parkings, my advice scan the area on google maps to give nearby paid parkings then walk from there , normally 3 minutes walk 👎confusing seatings To me it was worth the visit I hope you will too.

Simply an outstanding, genuine, local food spot! Hummus, falafel and pita bread with chai, you will not go wrong! Make sure one of your meals is here when visiting Amman.

Very nice place with good service. The people are super kind here. I tried many things in this restaurant and it was delicious. The falafel is a must try!

Good food at a very cheap price. The hummus and large falafel were our favorites. We had better fuul elsewhere, though, such as in the Marriott hotels throughout the country.

Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. Fair prices too. Every member of staff was welcoming and friendly except one. Unfortunately this unfriendly one was serving me. (I think he didn’t like tourists).

The ultimate Jordanian hummus and falafel 24/7 restaurant since the 1950s . Filled with locals and tourists. No frill ambiance and atmosphere with good service and tasty favorites : hummus , Foul , falafel and such . A must visit in old downtown amman near the Roman amphitheater.

  • 4/5 charles f. 11 months ago on Google
Hashem is a downtown staple that is now basically a tourist haunt. Yes it’s decent humus, ful and falafel. It’s nice to have a long breakfast there. It is authentic in that respect. There are better hummus places in Amman for sure, but it’s a downtown tradition and still decent quality and relatively inexpensive.

Had great Turkish coffee at terrace of this place. Atmosphere was great. Only thing we didn't like is they charge 13 euros per 2 Turkish coffee. It was a rip off because we are not locals.

A traditional fast food joint. Food: The food is in par with the Jordanian expectations I must say. Not much to choose but whatever available all are very good. Service: There is no special service here, as they aim to fill in maximum people in lesser time, you have to be in and out asap. They prepare your table, give you a sheet to order where you tick the menu. They take it and they serve you. Atmosphere: Located right in the heart of the old city, filled with tourists and locals alike. Price: I remember it being average priced same as you would find in Dubai

Wow this place is HUGE! We came at a time that wasn't too busy - but it was clear that they can feed many many people. We ordered the hummus, falafel and baba ghanoush. I was really impressed how many falafel we got! So many! They were pretty tasty, but the real star was the hummus. Wow that hummus was so creamy and smooth, I loved it so much. I also liked that they give you a platter of onions, tomato and herbs. It was completely delicious.

Great local restaurant, authentic, great food quality with no frills , no menu , just order the usual suspects , hummus , babaganoush, falafel, salad, tea. Amazing value for money. Highly recommended!

food is 10/10! the falafel is amazing. the restaurant itself is very basic and minimalistic so expect much and its super cheap

I went to Hashem just by chance. It was on the corner of a main road and I liked the authentic look. They serve very traditional lunch options so as I sat down I asked for one of everything! Delicious falafel and hummus in particular but I was right in choosing this place for many reasons. I loved the buzz in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and served everything in seconds.

Great option if you are around Amman downtown. The prices are incredibly affordable and the food quality could not be better! The food is simple but so delicious. The service was super fast and the staff there were very nice. We went two times and could not recommend it more!

Hashim restaurant is very popular restaurant to eat the traditional food in Jordan. I really like their homeless and falafel. I recommended to you to visit to enjoy their delicious food but I wish they have freshly baked bread which will make the food more delicious.

Pretty amazing traditional food. no fuss, humble settings but the falafel/hummus/pita (for less than $2) combo was as delicious as it can possibly get. Service could be better- just gotta be nicer to staff but the food more haha makes up for it!

What an experience. Food is just great, hummus and stuffed falafels are a must to have, you wouldn'twant to miss. Eggs were great as well. Order 2 items only, they give bread and salad as sides and they are plenty to have, you will be full. Service was quick and servers are full of energy, salad was super fresh, breads were soft and a delight. At the end seeing the bill, cheap as hell. It's a landmark, has a history, must if you're in Amman!

Great and fresh food at Jordan prices. It is a must stop in Amman if you want great fresh food at any time. The falafel are amazing, but to be host we were speechless about the hummus, they add a nice squeeze of lemon which really brings it to all another level. It is very busy but they serve very fast. Full of locals and they treat everybody the same. I read some comments and to be honest if someone wants a western standards service, there are places in Amman, just be ready to pay much much more. I recommend it for an authentic experience and really good fresh food.

Heard from our uber driver that this is the place to eat at. So we came here after visiting the landmarks of the city. We walked in, got seated and the waiter asked us what we wanted. We got Baba Ghanoush to start. Then we got bread, falafels with some tomatoes and mint on the side. For a drink we got hot tea. All the food was really good and it was much more filling that we thought. Also this meal was extremely extremely affordable so overall just an amazing food experience and lunch, would recommend to anyone who wanted to try authentic local food.

Think hearty street food. This was the best falafel I’ve had in my life. The pita bread was so soft. We also got the mutabal, the hummus and the faul (fava beans). The hummus and the faul were my favorite.
