Such a beautiful place. It has a focal point in the centre where you stand and speak and you can hear ypur own voice echo. Also if you can do climb the stairs. Climbing up is easy but climbing down is difficult.

A great Park for public and tourism. Perfect place for spending time in Summer, and spring seasons. So close to Roman Theater which you don't have to start your car to get the Roman Theater. When you go there , like you hit 2 birds by one stone. Really a very good chance to visit two great places so close together. There are a several parts for sitting and relax after walking around. Free entry no payment.

What’s a beautiful place it is. The views are fantastic from the top, you can actually see the Amman Citadel from here. There is a point in center from where you can listen the echos. Jordan pass is included so you don’t have to pay. One of the must visit place in Amman Downtown. The rainbow street and the market street is very close by so that you can walk.

More appropriate to call this the Roman Amphitheater. There is a tiny museum that has Arab artifacts of interest. Very steep stairs polished by millennia of shoes. Photos show musical performance set up for royal wedding.

Scenery is good with the city of Amman in the background. If you have a Jordan pass then entry to this place is included, otherwise you will have to pay for entering. My kids loved the fact they could walk and climb. There is a sort of museum as well which you can visit on the same site. There is a viewpoint above it but you will have to walk 10-15min for that (steep climb) and it is (left outside) around the theatre.

🔘The Roman Theatre in Amman🔘 ⚫Located in Amman , Jordan. ⚫The city was known as Philadelphia in the Roman period. ⚫The theatre was built during the reign of Antonius Pius (138-161 CE ), it could hold up to 6,000 people. ⚫Side entrances existed at ground level, one leading to the orchestra and the other to the stage. ⚫On the side of the stage, a small door opens to the Jordan Museum of Popular Traditions, in which dozens of ceramics, traditional Bedouin clothing, jewelry, and trinkets sit on display. ⚫Behind the theater is the remains of the Temple of Hercules sits on a hill.

It was a 4 hours layover at Amman in July of 2018; ran out of airport, got an Uber and took a few minutes to convince the driver to take me to a quick tour to view the city; Hashemite Plaza was the first stop: there were couples having a walk after dinner, kids playing soccer, the Roman Theatre sitting back quietly looking at the people down there on the square; the scenes had nothing different from the ones in Canada, France or China, except people’s costumes.

Pretty awesome place, 4 stars because apparently back then, they need the audience to clearly see and hear the battle, sooooo the stairs are terrifyingly thin and the thing is massive, and I would've passed out if I've gotten any higher than the 3rd set if stairs. Pretty cool place.

We visited the Hashemite Plaza to meet up with some friends before visiting the Roman Theatre which is adjacent to the plaza. There is a car parking area adjacent to the plaza and this is your best area for parking. We were warned by a local that the plaza does attract some unsavoury characters, so be alert. We did experience one man who was following the women in our group too closely and paying too much attention to their handbags and phones so please be attentive. The toilets are clean, safe and manned but it will cost you a coin to use them. The Roman Theatre is worth visiting to see the two charming museums that are tucked in underneath. Nancy's souvenirs at the top of the stone stairs from the plaza is the best shop in Amman for quality, range and prices.

The Roman Amphitheater in the heart of Amman is a majestic example of ancient craftsmanship and architecture. The amphitheater is incredibly well-preserved, with all its grandeur and splendor on display. The sheer size of the amphitheater is staggering, with over 6,000 seats arranged in a perfect semicircle. The amphitheater was originally built during the Roman Empire and has since been restored to its former glory. Walking into the amphitheater is like stepping back in time to an era of gladiators and epic battles. You can almost hear the roar of the crowds and the clashing of swords. It's an awe-inspiring sight that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

I didn’t even bother to enter the coliseum because I think it’s best to explore the plaza to have a great view around the area. The plaza is full of locals playing football in the middle, tourists taking pictures (like me), and some food sellers. The ticket selling is also in front of the Hashemite Plaza before you enter and pay for the entrance (included in the Jordan Pass) in the coliseum.

Hashemite Plaza in Amman, Jordan is a must-visit destination. This vibrant public space captures the essence of the city, with its bustling atmosphere, beautiful design, and cultural significance. It's the perfect place to experience the local culture, enjoy delicious cuisine, and immerse yourself in the lively street life. Don't miss out on the opportunity to explore this captivating plaza in the heart of Amman.

The plaza is an outdoor open space that has fountains, gardens, seated areas and cafe. It works as an entrance to two of the most popular ruins in Amman, the Roman theater and the Odeon. From the plaza you can find a tickets shop to get tickets to visit the amphitheater. From the plaza you can overlook the downtown of Amman, and the citadel which locates in a very short distance from the plaza. Parking lot is available. Free entrance to the plaza. You can enjoy it at mornings or afternoon, but make sure to plan your visit at the theater opening hours.

a great place to know Jordan more and more it's for family , To see Jordan in the past and how life was among the Jordanian tribes There is a museum that explains all these things

Magnificent plaza with the famous Roman theatre. Right at the center of the capital, a small walk down from the citadel and included in the Jordan pass. You should always try to visit this one even if you're only in Amman for a day. There is a small museum on-site but don't expect the same extent as the one in the citadel itself. Be cautious though, when raining or just after the stone floors and steps of the plaza and theatre can be deceivingly slippery. If you're really into it you could probably spend one or multiple hours here discovering the little details but most people only spend about 30 minutes here so traffic is high unfortunately.

Named after the Royal family, the Hashemites. The plaza faces the outstanding Roman theater in the heart of the capital city of Amman. Few shops, cafes and parking are available. Some activities take place throughout the year such as folkloric shows and dances. If you are visiting the Roman theater then you would definitely pass through it.

A place in midle of Amman down town, where you can have a break in any time of the day. I enjoyed sitting down in the nautural shades of the lovely green trees, after visiting the historical sites around the area.

Its a nice place for tourists and locals too, while having the issue of a bad smell when coming close to it you still get one of the best views in the area especially at night time.

A must visit in Amman. This is where the Roman Theatre is, and you can see the citadel if you look at the horizon

A grand plaza, with plenty of sitting areas and lots of room for the kids to play. It sits conveniently next to the Roman amphitheater and the smaller Odeon theater.

Nice place to spend an afternoon with family and friends under a tree shade. The smell of coffee and sweet corn is mixed with the sound of street vendors and children laughing. A peaceful place in the otherwise hectic downtown

  • 5/5 Eric S. 2 years ago on Google
I loved being here and enjoying the views, and imagining myself being in a Roman production. Its bigger in real life, and steps are definitely steeper than they look in pictures. Amazing that things built that long ago are still with us.

Also known as the Amman Roman Theater, these remnants from the time when Amman was one of the cities of the Decapolis, and called Philadelphia, are well worth a visit. The theater was very big, capable of seating 7000 people at a time, and is in very good condition. There are VIP seats in front. In addition, there's a much smaller theater off to the side, that only seated ~300, and was likely used to conduct gov't business. On each side if the main stage of the larger space are two nice museums. One has amazing mosaic fragments from the Byzantine era.

Seemed like another rock formation but u can climb it and knowing that it is also an active theater site is good. Peaceful considering it was during the day.

  • 5/5 Ali B. 1 year ago on Google
It was built between 138CE and 161CE, during the reign of Antoninus Pius. It was designed to keep the sun off spectators, and seat up to 6,000 people. It was later restored to its glory around 1950's by the royal family. ....ALL ARE WELCOME ... bring someone to remember the memories ...

The Hashemite Plaza is a restored square with several old monuments attached; you have the Roman coloumns, the Roman Theathre, the Odeon and the Nymphaeum flanking the big plaza. Always a lot of peple playing and trying to sell stuff. As a tourist you will be targeted by the touts, of course, but don’t be discouraged, it’s also a lot more of normal Jordanians that are eager to test out their English… and they all are pretty good at it. I experienced that they helped me getting the touts away in exchange of talking English and taking photos with them. They got me tea and we played some soccer and exchanged Snap-addresses. Absolutely worth a visit or two. Keep in mind entrances to the Roman Theatre and Odeon is included in the Jordan Pass should you have that.

It was a nice plaza to go to and a good idea as a destination point for walking through the city but nothing too exciting.

Takes you back centuries . You can feel the crowd cheering for the gladiator when you take a position in the theater. The modern plaza has been well developed . Loved the atmosphere .

Seeing monuments from hundreds of years ago that are still adhering to the constants of their civilization is very interesting and calls for standing in contemplation of the greatness of our ancestors and the artistic masterpieces they left behind. It is worth mentioning the activities that are held on the stage and presented by the Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality, and this matter encourages presence among the corridors of this great theater.
