It’s not a museum where you learn and wander to discover: it’s an extravagant accumulation of artifacts, from minerals to fossils to traditional African arts to an edifying exhibit about Gandhi. You are rushed through tunnels and rooms stuffed with all these things with little context and no time to absorb and appreciate, despite the capable tour guide’s best efforts. It’s not a testimony of our planet’s and its peoples’ heritage; it’s rather more evidence of greed and possession, under the disguise and excuse of sharing by showing off. Worth a visit just to understand the scope of the problem.

We didn't know that they only do guided tours at certain times.. But luckily we managed to get really nice guided tour just for the two of us with really nice and friendly guide... That was worth of 1.5 h of waiting.. Especially that we got nice lunch recommendations to spend the time.

Why not get the visibly bored girls in your wine shop to do some degustations? Can’t be that difficult to sort out a corkscrew and learn a few lines about each bottle, is it? Win win for everyone - clients happy, wine sold and the name of the region is becoming known to ever more people. Instead the reception is lukewarm, the girls seem to be the first day in their job and the prevailing sense that Bacalhoa still hasn’t decided what business they are in, can’t escape me. I would like to come back to see the art but somehow I lost interest. Seems also a duplication of what’s I. Buddha Eden.

We had such a lovely tour here, we had a fantastic young guide, who spoke very good English and knew her history. Also about the collection of artifacts that they have there. Its not just a wine Tour. Well worth a visit if you like history. €8 was for a guided tour, taste the sparkling wine and some lovely little bread rolls with the famous pork.

A great spot to see some cool artifacts from around the world, and taste some great snacks and sparkling wines after the tour finishes. Goncalo Costa was an excellent tour guide, he spoke fluent English and cares about history and sharing it with others. If life allows the opportunity, would love to visit again!

Great experience. The history, placing and the odd setting for a museum make for an unique experience. At the end you can taste test a couple of their sparkling wines and sangria.
