Not
sure
if
it’s
one
PCP
or
a
practice
policy,
but
I’ve
never
had
a
doctor
deny
prescriptions
for
long-term
chronic
conditions
simply
to
get
a
member
in
for
an
annual
wellness
visit.
My
pharmacy
tries
to
repeatedly
refill
a
prescription
I’ve
had
for
8
years,
but
it’s
denied.
Then
I
get
a
phone
call
saying
I
need
to
come
in
for
a
visit.
Problem
is,
they’re
booked
up
for
weeks
after
my
prescription
is
denied
and
now
I’m
dealing
with
withdrawal
symptoms
of
the
medication.
This
has
happened
to
multiple
people
I
know
who
used
this
office
and
has
happened
to
me
multiple
times.
Insurance
companies
often
have
incentives
tied
to
the
percentage
or
number
of
members
going
in
for
annual
visits
(it
reduces
claims
cost,
members
on
risk-adjusted
plans
need
their
conditions
documented
annually
for
the
insurance/provider
group
to
get
reimbursed,
or
whatever
other
reason).
As
someone
that
works
in
the
healthcare
industry,
I’ve
never
seen
anyone
suggest
the
physicians
deny
long-term
prescriptions
to
drive
up
annual
visit
rates,
but
here
I
am
experiencing
it
on
the
other
side.
