This
review
is
specific
to
the
hotel
pools,
since
we
rented
a
pool
cabana
for
an
afternoon
(yes,
that's
a
thing
you
can
do,
but
verify
if
you
must
be
a
resort
guest).
Hands
down,
a
cabana
is
the
way
to
go
to
have
a
little
privacy
away
from
excited
and
playing
children.
I'm
old,
I
like
my
relaxation!
Three
great
pools
for
families
offering
a
variety
of
locations
and
a
tall,
retro
water
slide.
I'm
very
impressed
with
the
lifeguards
that
take
their
work
seriously,
not
something
I've
seen
at
other
hotel
pools.
Returning
to
the
cabana,
our
space
included
a
shady
lounge
complete
with
TV,
ceiling
fan,
mini
fridge
stocked
with
bottled
water
and
wash
cloths
for
cooling.
A
fruit
plate
was
offered
along
with
menus
for
food
and
drinks.
Two
lounge
chairs
and
a
sectional
sofa
gave
us
options
for
sun
or
shade;
a
couple
of
my
guests
enjoyed
some
catnaps.
Comparatively,
the
cabanas
and
pools
are
not
as
elegant
as
at
the
Grand
Californian,
but
that
isn't
really
a
complaint
just
a
contrast.
The
food
was
good
for
poolside
fare,
the
drinks
could
have
been
a
little
stronger,
but
nonetheless
we
had
a
great
time.
One
problem
the
upper
pool
does
have
is
afternoon
shade
from
the
new
DVC
tower.
Just
keep
that
in
mind
if
you
intend
to
use
it
off
season
when
the
sun
is
lower
in
the
sky.
