it is something amazing...but be careful, it is very physically demanding..you need good shoes and many drinks...it is not for very small children, dogs, and any physical handicap...there are places where you must climb by rocks...attention, the tavern in Perivolakia is not open

Amazing walk, I would not say it is easy and if you are not keen on heights some part would be a bit scary. Path is really well marked though and the scenery is stunning. Vultures, and Swifts flying around and even saw a Blue Jay. Walked down the hillside path back to the Monastery, not as spectacular but very scenic.

This became one of our most favorite Cretan gorges – averagely demanding (not too much climbing but generally quite long) and with the best taverna in the destination (Таверна Апосперида). Don’t miss the return from Perivolakia the other way – over the hills with stunning views (perhaps to Africa??).

(Translated by Google) Wonderful gorges, among the most beautiful of the many that Crete offers. Long, isolated, wild with an ever-changing landscape. The route begins with a group of tamarisk trees near the beach and climbs up to the tiny and characteristic village of Perivolakia. As of May 2022, there were no cafes or taverns open, so no refueling. On the way back, following some signs and asking the Locals, we followed a path outside the gorges that reaches the Monastery and the parking lot. Path just as beautiful because with a breathtaking view of the sea. Overall, a path that, although without any technical difficulty, requires a minimum of training and habit of hiking. Consigliatissimo

Incredible rock formations, caves and cliffs. Take shoes with hard soles to protect your feet.

Very beautiful trail, but difficult to do. Very quiet. In beginning of June nobody at all. Must have good shoes. No Children preferred. We did not reach the top after 1h30 of climbing from the sea side. We reached only the point N 35°01'53" E 26°03'25". I suppose we add one hour more to get to the top. Some rocks are not easy to pass. Must be done if you like wild places.

(Translated by Google) This is an incredibly beautiful gorge! The entrance to it is located before the monastery (if you go from makrigialos), indicated by a signpost. The gorge is about 3.5 km long. Everyone says that it takes 2 hours to go, but it took us 4 hours. Apparently we took a lot of pictures with us there was a child. In the gorge we were walking, only eagles fly on their heads, goats jump and the mountains are silent. The beauty! Better go in the morning, then your walk will take place in the shade. We walked most of the way in the shadows, which makes the path very much easier. The route is marked with red arrows. Thank you very much to the person who did it! At the end of the path is the lovely village of Pervolakia. It has a Tavern. It is a pity that it was closed, but its owners treated us to coffee and natural. We walked back by another road, along the top of the gorge. You will find a pointer to this road by the church, in the village. Then follow the red and yellow arrows. The road goes up and the views are amazing! Were in August 2021 with a 10-year-old child.

(Translated by Google) Wonderful! We came in from the sea for a short trip .. Unforgettable views. (Original) Cudny! Weszliśmy od strony morza na krótka wycieczkę.. Niezapomniane widoki.
