Not sure how to rate this hotel. Hotel in Alaska are generally no frills. This hotel on the other hand has a lot of services. It is older and could use some touching up. But then again, this is Alaska and this is a great hotel by Alaska standards. A few things: I asked the first night if they did wake up calls for the Northern Lights and they said they did- took my room down, etc. Never got a wake up call but all my colleagues all had amazing photos the next day of Northern Lights they saw. Secondly, I found the whole “Athletic Club” concept to be way to old fashioned, snobby, formal, and not necessary. Just give me a gym and some nice equipment so I can work out. Good location in downtown Anchorage.

Love it! It’s very classic hotel and the best restaurant in town. (Crow’s nest) you must make a reservation in advance for better experience. We booked junior suite. Not bad at all. We love the big widows and it can be opened few inches as well. Allowed us to get some fresh air in winter. Room has big heating walls. Very comfortable.

The staff here are incredible! Everyone was so helpful and nice. I'm not a big fan of staying downtown, mostly due to parking. Be prepared to pay a lot for valet parking if you have a car, but at least the valet staff are really fast. The rooms were great, there are even bathrobes & slippers! The bed was super comfy & the bathtub was longer than most hotels. Overall a fantastic experience.

Great location and service. Large hotel with plenty of huge group check-ins especially cruise passengers. So everything seems a bit crowded and busy all the time but that doesn't dampen the service. Location is perfect for hopping on to the coastal trail and exploring downtown. Rooms are well appointed (slightly old school but no complaints).

I would recommend this hotel. It is in a great location, near the visitors' center and nearby restaurants. We ate at Fletcher's twice, great food and service. We had chicken bacon ranch pizza, fried chicken sandwich, the cheeseburger, fries, and the spring mix salad with balsamic. Everything was excellent. It is right inside the hotel and worth the wait. When we arrived, our room did not have hot water. They upgraded us to another room and sent a bellman to move the luggage. My impression is that it is a well managed place.

Stayed one night before a Princess cruise tour. The hotel is older and so are the furnishings ,but that adds to its history and charm. Our shower didn’t work so maintenance came up. Jeramy was excellent. He worked hard to fix the shower and then even helped us fix our luggage which had a broken handle. He was great and successful with both problems. The room was clean and comfy. We enjoyed our stay

We really liked this hotel. At this time, 4 stars is the highest I can rate it because Anchorage businesses are short of staff. So, a couple of hotel restaurants were closed or hours shortened. You can get a room refresh, upon request. Service is very good, even with the shortage. Food was very good. Easy walk to waterfront, restaurants, shops and trolley tour. I would stay here again.

I'm a local and we were looking for a place downtown for brunch. Forgot how busy downtown gets during the summer. Stopped at the Captain Cook just to see and we got a seat right away. I have stayed in the Captain Cook Hotel a couple of times in the Winter and it's nice and the staff is very friendly. But for our brunch that day the Salmon omelet was AMAZING! and I think the coffee was complimentary. Nice and quiet. Very enjoyable! A good place to go for breakfast and lunch.

Very nice room and clean hotel. We arrived very late due to a plane delay and they were very nice and helpful. Had breakfast before leaving for the day, and it was delicious and filling. Tried some new things.. red salmon and reindeer sausage. The salmon had more body than what we usually have. The reindeer sausage had an unusual aftertaste, but we were glad we tried it.

Don’t stay here! Came to stay overnight on New Years and see the fireworks that are within view of the hotel. Tried to make a reservation online and called 20 minutes later to confirm only to be blown off and told to wait for email confirmation. No email confirmation was sent to me. Called a second time and had to painstakingly make a reservation over the phone. I came to the hotel in the evening of December 31 to check in, only to be met with a stressful situation as the front desk had trouble locating my reservation. This was due to negligence of the front desk staff and booking a family I don’t even know into the room. A friend of mine and I walked into what we thought was our room only to be met by this family. Front desk did little to care- especially because we asked “is anyone in the room already?” and we were told no. The manager is incompetent and only cared about helping the family that was booked into my room. I’ve had good experiences with captain cook in the past but it has horribly gone down hill in recent years. I tried to call the front desk from the room only to be transferred to reservation serves and then to the hotel operator then back to the reservation operator. This cycle continued for 20 minutes until we got too irritated to wait on hold and wanted to enjoy our holiday. I recommend avoiding the manager at all costs if you stay here because of his casual demeanor and how he doesn’t pay much attention to guests. Stay at the Hilton if you’d like a similar experience downtown and there are many other hotels close to downtown that would fit your needs.

Pretty convenient location for walking downtown or along the water and a short trip from the airport. Definitely dated decor (orange velvet walls) but the rooms were nice and the beds comfortable. Pretty annoying having to go all the way down and walk 3/4’s of the way around the building to the next elevator just to get to another tower and go back up the elevator.

Classic old world styling, comfy bed. Clean room, well maintained. Adequate outlets and charging points. Really not enough 'low cost' options for food, but meals were very good. Stayed as part of package, so no comment on price point. Location in a busy area of town, street noise prominent in our low floor corner room if windows opened at all. But busy area allows for many outside food and entertainment options within an easy walk.

The room my husband and I stayed in was amazing. Best hotel I've stayed in yet. The hotel was very clean, staff was very friendly. I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here as part of our cruise vacation. Rooms are very nice, Furnished and appointed nicely. Fletcher Christian bar/dining room was elegant, food and drink was excellent. Had a great view of the harbor.

An excellent location in the hub of Anchorage, this charming hotel is a great destination for your daily adventures. The food is good, and staff are excellent and friendly. The maids do an excellent job tidying up the rooms and keeping things fresh and clean. You must visit the Crow's Nest! For the price charged however, the rooms are just ok. Need to be more updated for the prices charged. Bathrooms are very small but manageable. Lots of things to do within walking distance! I highly recommend Snow City Cafe for dining nearby. Very friendly staff and excellent food. A word of warning on wait times during busy hours... overall an excellent place to stay with good gift shops inside. Also for my tasty beverage lovers...the liquor store across the street offers a 5% discount when you show hotel room card😉.

It would have been great to have a ride from the airport to the Hotel Captain Cook. I hope you do something about having a vehicle to transport people to & from the airport. I appreciate all your efforts to accommodate us. Very Happy Otherwise!

First time in Anchorage and this hotel was nice. Easy to walk to places. Only valet parking but I had no issue finding parking nearby. Convenient to have the restaurants in the hotel, they're good too. I didn't get to check out the shops but the art store looked interesting.

The best hotel in Anchorage! Location is superb, staff are friendly and helpful, makes you feel at home. The interior is rather outdated but the place is well maintained and clean. Easily fully booked so plan the trip as early as possible. Plenty of famous eateries around hotel but at the moment we stayed there, nearby pharmacies or groceries were non existent so load up before check in.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ .ᴄᴏᴍ when booking any place. This web site will compare thousands of booking websites and usually will have prices a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This hotel is the best rated in this area. I've been coming here for a very long time. If you choose this place you definitely won't be disappointed. Loved staying at the Captain Cook Hotel. Workers were so friendly and helpful in every possible way. The gym is one of the best I've ever seen in a hotel as well. Pool, sauna, steam room all were perfect. Look forward to staying again one day.

I'm not sure what the hype is about. It's very outdated, and things are worn and need to be fixed (broken tiles, caulking falling off the edges of the tub, etc...). The rooms are also really poorly lit and smell like a motel. The views are great (for Anchorage). The restaurants were good too. Location is convenient. Parking is terrible. They also offer (packages) but the website gives no description. I got the bed and breakfast package, which I found later is just a $30 room credit (they add $30 to the cost of the room. So there's no savings or real point to it) which goes toward breakfast if you want to eat at the restaurant. It was just ok.

The spa with sauna, steam room and pool here is excellent. They provide robes and even have a shaving station. The rooms in the hotel are always clean and comfortable. They also have robes, slippers, nice shampoo and conditioner, even a Keurig for coffee. The restaurants in the hotel are great too. When I'm in Anchorage this is where I like to stay.

Always a wonderful stay at the Captain Cook. Between the staff and the comfort of the hotel I always enjoy my time here. It is centrally located for easy access to many things in downtown Anchorage and it speaks highly of an Era from the past of wealth and luxury! Beautiful rooms and clean living. Gotta love me some Cap'in Cook!

A great place to stay before we started our cruise. The rooms were clean and comfortable, especially the beds and pillows. Quick response when we requested more pillows. Nice place for breakfast, dinner and after hours drinks all inside the hotel. Located near many attractions, so we took a walk and explored the city.

It was the best hotel during our entire Alaska stay. They had amazing amenities. The view from the room was breathtaking. Their pool service was great. The restaurants in the hotel are great! Highly recommend their fancy Crow’s Nest restaurant for a date night. They are booked so don’t forget to make reservations and n advance. Their breakfast and brunch restaurant ‘The pantry’ was amazing. We wanted to go to another place for brunch but they had 75+ min waiting. We loved the loved here. The staff is very friendly and will offer recommendations if you need them. We’ll Definitely will be visiting Anchorage again and can’t wait to stay here.

For the price I don't feel it's worth it. You have to pay for parking which is 30 dollars a day in the parking garage across the street or find a meter and pay. They have a valet which is the same as parking in the garage. The biggest issue we had with our stay of 4 nights is that on the second day we put our clean room sign up at 8 am. When we came back at 930 that night the room had not been cleaned at all. We left it for the next day, still no room service. If I'm paying 190 dollars a night (that includes parking) then I expect at the very least for my room to be refreshed when I followed the instructions to get it cleaned. So all in all for the price and the out dated rooms I was very underwhelmed given the reputation of this hotel. Definitely will not be staying at the Captain Cook again. To note the staff we did interact with was very friendly and helpful. And the restaurants are great!

Well located hotel, many rooms to select, we have a single suite with plenty of room and amenities in Tower three with nice views of the city. Room was a little noisy but in general was a good experience. Nice restaurants and bars. Quick and friendly personnel. Excellent checking in. You can choose the valet service at a hefty price or you can park your car at night for free on the street, we chose the street parking and found a spot that I could see from our room.. Great experience...highly recommended

Service is consistently friendly and rooms are always clean. The past two times I've stayed here the room's safe hasn't worked. After reporting this to hotel maintenance they addressed it within minutes both times.

My friend and I had trouble checking in for a one night stay. After a fifteen minute wait for the front desk to find our reservation we went up to our room where we found another family!!! The mother of this family had identical key cards to me and my friend. Her children were also in the room. A huge safety issue and privacy violation on both our ends. We went back down to the front desk to get the situation sorted and find out that they booked her into OUR room. No IDs were checked in the process of the check in, leaving both of our parties vulnerable. After then entire debacle we weren’t even fully compensated, and instead offered a $30 coupon and a discount that didn’t even cover HALF of the room. Management was rude and demeaning to us, and it was only after pushing that they showed any concern for the safety of their guests and offer more then fifty dollars off the original room.

Location is great, right next to the Anchorage Trolley Tour and lots of dining options. Staff is excellent and the room and hotel were exceptionally clean. The rooms are... a bot dated. May be in keeping with the theme, but the entire hotel a d rooms are quite dark. If it were not for the modern conveniences and cleanliness it would seem to have been styled in the 70s and maintained that way. The stay was spread and will consider it again.

Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any place. This web site will compare countless hotel sites and usually will have rates much cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This resort is the best rated in this area. I have been staying here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure won't regret it. Nice hotel. We had good service and you really would be hard pressed to find a better location. Eazy walk to most things you might want. Only odd thing is the gym is segregated men and women. The restaurant on top of the building is nice with a beautiful view. Definitely a upscale place.

Place was nice. Plenty of shopping and restaurants on the premises. Staff was great. Room was typical, nothing special. Nice view of water. Close to shops. No shuttle service to/from airport and train station. Costs $20 to get to the airport after spending many hundreds just for the room for 2 nights.

Clean and spacious rooms. Many good restaurants within walking distance. Did not dine at hotel but other guests said they had good experiences. Only critique...lobby seating is spread out and sparse. Could not find a trash receptacle anywhere. We were there for just one night but this place would be very comfortable for longer stays.

This place is all about location. Lots of rooms and tall towers that really make the floors almost feel private. The view from the corner suite we stayed in looked down a major intersection in downtown Alaska and the mountain views that broke the horizon were just breath taking. Lots of great restaurants in the area and in the hotel. The pool and shops aren't bad. But the beds are just not comfortable and the rooms are very very dated. Even in the hallway My heels kept finding gaps in the floor under the carpet. The bathrooms for a suite are disappointing. I've had long stay rooms in major franchises with way more comfort, better rooms, and amenities. But none the less I had a great stay and will probably book again in the future. Can't beat the location and views after all.

Stayed here for our honeymoon, service was very good. Rooms were very clean, could use some updates but were still nice. We used valet parking which was the most convenient option. The gym was very nice, I liked how men/women had their own.

Gorgeous historic hotel, helpful, professional staff, stellar dining options, and a spa with European style amenities/ service. Not to mention that my large bathroom has an oversized bathtub, just perfect for relaxing after a snowy day in Anchorage. You will enjoy this gem and the many amenities that you will discover inside.

Such a wonderful place to stay on our trip. The valet staff are so friendly. We got several recommendations for food! The front desk staff are accommodating and got us taken care of quickly. The restaurant was good. Just a really great place to stay!

Very nicely appointed accommodations. Nothing unexpected, unique, or differentiating. Exactly what you would need for a comfortable stay. Downtown location, close to a few eatery’s and shopping locations. Spa is bare bones. Not made for indulging n relaxation but for the order of the day. Pool area is a bit depressing. Only one lounge onsite. Breakfast spot available and choc shop.

Alright so this place is a great option when visiting town. The location I feel is great downtown as it's got some places to walk to nearby and also has some nice views depending on your room. The staff was nice and friendly which is always nice these days. I do have 2 negatives, first the parking is like $30-$36 per day which I think is pretty crazy for a small city like this. The second is a strange one, the toilet in my room was super tiny, now I'm 6'4 about 210lbs and I just barely fit on it so just a heads up on that haha.
