This place is like a little Christmas Miracle! It's the most welcoming and friendly place I've ever stayed; the staff, the travelers... everyone is just amazing! I walked in and immediately felt the warm welcoming, like a fuzzy sweater! The location is convenient, right off the bus line and good food is close. Amenities are plentiful, coffee is great, and breakfast is free! While I want to keep this place a complete secret just for me, I also want to scream from the rooftop how great my stay was. You will leave with new friends, and a fantastic experience.

I've been travelling across Canada and Alaska for the past 3.5 months and have stayed in numerous Hostels during that time. This is one of my favourites. All of the staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. The location is convenient and everything was super clean and well maintained. The breakfasts and coffee are no frills but appreciated none the less. The common spaces are well respected and a great way to meet people and make new friends. I especially enjoyed the Teepee fires out back, such a great and unique way to encourage socialization and promote a community space. I was there for 3 nights and by the end you feel like part of a family. I want to thank all the staff for their hard work and kindness during my stay and for making a solo traveler feel welcome and accepted. Base Camp Rocks!!! If I'm ever back in Anchorage I'll be staying here for sure! Ultimately what you get out of this place is going to depend on your expectations, if you want a 5 star resort style hotel stay this is not for you, but if you're looking for a homey, community oriented place to make some new friends then you will be hard pressed to find a better spot than Base Camp!

One big family (If you want) Ive spend here many nights during my 4 weeks trip in Alaska. it was the base between different trips. The perfect base. The staff is just amazing. They run the place with 8 people like a big family. You can blend in or just mind your own, it's a wonderful space they've created. Beside the staff there are travelers and seasonal workers all the time so they're is plenty of social interaction, again, if you want. The facilities are great. Comfortable beds, enough showers/bathrooms, lockers, locked rooms (!!), gear for rent, big garden, sauna, floating bath(i recommend, fresh coffee the whole day, big well equipped kitchen, etc. Oh and they keep the place clean by cleaning it continuously. They organize almost hikes almost daily for free. Great way to explore the nature and trails around Anchorage and fellow guests. I can go on with positive stuff but I think I've made my point: great place to start and finish your trip (and make some stops in between).

Beds were about what you might expect, however what's annoying is that quiet hours are not enforced nor respected. Despite them being set at 10-7, I'm laying in bed now at 6:20am and have been listening to someone bang dishes in the sink for the last hour.

Cozy place with friendly staff and just around the corner from the bus stop and Chillkoot Charlie's. Some decent restaurants and shops nearby. There's an outfitter around the corner as well. There's a sauna on the property and clean bathrooms/showers.

Enjoyed my stay here - the host was warm and friendly. I didn't spend much time in the hostel as I was taking road-trips but it looked like a decent place to socialize if you'd like to.

I met lots of great travelers at here including the owner here. Many of them inspired me for my personal growth and lots of people(both guests and staffs) here are willing to support each other. They have tipi for group campfire night, sauna for treatment to your body and mental, float tank for those of you who wants to relax and add unique (might be new) experience to your life, and chickens in the back yard for fresh eggs in the morning:) I absolutely love this hostel and I would come back here every time I’m back in Anchorae, Alaska! Basecamp is the coolest hostel I’ve ever been to.

This was my first time experiencing a hostel and I couldn't have asked for a better place. I have never stayed anywhere that had a float tank, sauna, teepee tent, and chickens! All accessible for their guests! Truly a magical experience.. I will never stop recommending this place to anyone traveling to Anchorage and I hope to be back one day. The staff was so kind and the energy was chill and inviting. Thank you to everyone who made this a truly unforgettable experience. :') Oh it was also walking distance to Chilkoot Charlie's which is a must if you're in that area!

I wish more cities would have hostel options like this place. We only stayed for one night as we arrived early to the area, but this stop was a huge savior. All of the hotels have insane rates and you don't even get half of the amenities you do here. Friendly staff, respectful guests, close to anything you could need, and very clean rooms!

Very helpful staff. Meticulously clean and comfortable! Not far from bus stops but not a lot of eatery options close.

Such a great experience. In addition to the impressive amenities (e.g., spacious kitchen, well-maintained shared spaces, and plentiful outdoor space), there’s a real sense of community that emerges here; I arrived in Anchorage not knowing a single person but left it having met so many kind, passionate, and adventurous people who each had a story to tell — all thanks to Base Camp. Special thank you in particular to Ole, Anna, Austin, Marisa, and Elena, who were key in creating that comfortable environment and making sure everything went smoothly. 10/10!

By far, this is Anchorage's finest hostel. In all my 37 years of hostelling, this rates the top five. A very warm, home- like atmosphere matched by professional, caring staff. A sauna is offered which is a rare opportunity with any hostel. This was my fourth stay here. Consider leaving a tip to show appreciation to staff for their hard work. Looking forward to coming back here in the future.

Best hostel I’ve stayed at in the US! Great staff, cool crowd, and the coziest private rooms imaginable (for a reasonable price, too!)

Great hostel in Anchorage. Clean bathrooms and rooms, kind and helpful staff, good vibes in the common areas.

Really just a "basecamp" which means, everbody comes and leaves late at night or early in the morning making it hard to sleep even with earplugs. You have to pay for everything, e.g. 5 $ per day for leaving some luggage in the hostel. I had to cancel two nights after that one night stay and my room fortunately got rebooked for one night so they offered me to pay back at least the one night - that never happend, still waiting for an answer and my money. Really disappointed.

Such a great stay! Staff was so friendly, helpful, and genuine! Place was nice with lots of great spaces for lounging inside and outside. Conveniently located for errands, walks, and restaurants! Can’t wait to stay here again!

Unsafe DIY bunk beds and bathrooms that can't be locked. The girl "working" reception didn't offer to check me in early even though rooms were ready and, worse then that, she made me wait 15 minutes pass check in time for absolutely no reason (guess she wanted to assert her power?) Overall the staff was rude and the place dirty. This is basically a squat - except usually when I sleep in a squat I don't have to pay 60 dollars for it. I came back to Anchorage a week later and chose another accomodation.

Had a great short stay at BCAnchorage. I got up early to work east-coast hours, then spent the afternoon exploring Anchorage. I met some other guests who were fun and kind. The staff was especially kind. Abbey even offered to let me borrow her own hoodie since I didn't have one! This is a great hostel.

Excellently run and maintained hostel. Friendly staff and manganment that will help you find cool things to do and rent you some gear to do it. Bikes, poles, tents all readily available. Beds were comfy and rooms had lockers for your luggage. Walking distance from food options and a bar. Complimentary coffee and light breakfast. Even a sauna and an awesome teepee that can be used for an outdoor bonfire. Felt like being part of the community while here, it was loads of fun.

We were able to share guests through couchsurfing and everyone that stayed there loved it. We would participate and contribute to music events. The hostlel was always welcoming and kind.

Stayed here for 4 days and the facilities are good, the host and the volunteers are amazing and the sauna is the cherry on the cake! Their bikes definitely need a bit of a tune up :)

The staff was genuinely friendly to the point where we got to know each other. Breakfast and coffee were provided. Quiet, comfortable rooms with a beautiful view backyard. If you get a chance make a fore in the tipi, had great conversations with guests there. Loved this place!

Seemed like a nice hostel ! Just wish hostelworld would’ve let me know that you need a vaccination to stay there before booking ! Let’s hope I get all of my money back now. Other than that, nice people and the little time I was there it seemed like a nice environment!

I stayed at the Base Camp a few nights before and after my trip in the Alaska range this spring. The staff and accomodations were incredible! There is a huge backyard with a wonderful teepee, wood fire sauna, a beautiful garden, and bikes for exploring Anchorage. This is a wonderful place to a few nights while in Anchorage for anyone that is traveling on a budget and wants to meet some wonderful people. Make sure to ask about the sensory deprivation pod, it is an amazing experience and a great relaxing space after a big trip in Alaska. I cannot recommend this place enough and will definitely be visiting in years to come! Thank you Base Camp!

Great place to stay and a good place to make friends! The owner is very active in the hostel and there's always someone around to help, get to know, or talk to if you want that. Staying here gave me a quintessential hostel experience - loved it!

Awesome hostel with nice host and amazing people. Super chill vibe. People are all travelers and friendly to each other. The rooms are clean. The host Liz can answer all the questions you have. I came to camp backcountry in Denali NP and this is literally my “base camp” for my adventure. Will def come back again!

😐 The mattress are very old, you can feel the springs very well... and the bunk beds are not very steady. The toilets are very clean. Breakfasts are basic. 😠 Very disappointed! I was very excited and slightly nervous to experience a hostel. It was part of our Alaskan experience and I was On Board!
