This was my first time camping on an island with trees. I'm from Nunavut and we don't have any trees. The island is beautiful! I saw an eagle flying, I had to cover the little puppy so it doesn't take it for its next meal πŸ˜‚. Me, coming from Nunavut, I wasn't expecting to go camping to a place with cell phone service, running water, garbage bins, outhouses, let alone a place to take shower (for loonies). This place has all of that! Lol The Concession is a nice little place to get some food, drinks, and merch. The beer is nice Not very many options, but I didn't even think they'd have beer available. It was a nice surprise. I had remembered to bring everything on the face of this Earth to this Island, but coffee. And the Concession had run out of coffee for a couple days, too, so I just had to drink my tea to get caffinated. πŸ™ƒ Overall, the food was good, coffee was ... I wouldn't know, view was beautiful, ferry was small and cute, weather was hot, water was cold, the experience was great. I had so much fun! P.S. - I found a sand dollar! It was my first time seeing a sand dollar. Lol

What a gem! It’s beautiful! The cute little ferry ride that is dog friendly and the 10km perimeter trail is spectacular! A lake is also hidden on the island and camping is allowed, also trails throughout the island.

Great day trip out of Nanaimo for an easy nature getaway. Hiking, camping, cycling, picnicking, tidal pools & food concession to check out. Kayak & bike rentals also available. Views of Nanaimo, or harbour & beyond. Walk on ferry was short & regular for easy commute. Hauling gear from the ferry to a camp spot can be cumbersome if not prepared. Plan ahead & you'll thoroughly enjoy!

Last year we visited Sayshutshun Island for a day, and knew we had to come back. We recently camped for almost a week and had a wonderful time. The trails are great for birding. We also had a fun time renting a kayak and going around the bay. We were lucky to see sealions, raccoons, and multiple otters on the shores. The concession food is delicious and the showers were nice and hot. The staff were also kind and helpful with questions we had and support we needed. I highly recommend camping here or visiting for a day!

What a place for family picnic with many playful options, e.g. bikes, sup, kayak. Even the ice cream was so nice!

My 6 year old said it should be called FUN Castle. Foot traffic only keeps the crowds lower. Honestly, a family favourite. Love hunting for beach glass here too.

Great place for a hike. Lots of nice trails. Hiking is the best way to get around unless you paddle there with your own kayak then you can paddle around the island. Good restrooms near the ferry. Therexare outhouses around the island, but don't use the the most Southeast one, it is too well used! Bring a lunch if you are there for the day. There is a concession, butvit is super expensive.

Went with my kids and grandkids. Now admittedly it was a holiday weekend, but the concessions had no cream or sugar for coffee, and it was super expensive, $3.25 for a can of pop seems excessive. Luckily we took a picnic as the food was pricey too. The grounds and bathrooms were really well kept though and the ferry over was great. Saysutshun is a special place and well worth a visit.

Saysutshun is absolutely beautiful ❀️ the Arbutus trees, the red rock and beach landscape, the nature - I haven't had the pleasure of exploring the whole island yet, however, I am excited for the day that comes around. You can feel the Earth energy there. The first time I stepped on the land, I immediately felt the presence of the Indigenous Spirits that came forward to communicate with me. I am delighted and so honoured this happened during a short trip, while paddle boarding from Nanaimo to Saysutshun. I look forward to the day when I can do this again, and explore the island more, connect with the nature and land more and just be with myself πŸ˜ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ¦‹πŸŒŠ

Camped for 2 nights and went for a dip in the ocean. Very peaceful place to camp. Lovely weather for the September season. -1 star due to the concession closing earlier then the camping season 😒 Every campsite has a picnic table/s. There's one full flush washroom with many stalls and a shower. The rest are large size, metal outhouses with cement floors. Dogs are allowed on leash. There's a playground near the kayak/bike rental building. See Jeff about renting a bike or a kayak!

Always a lovely stopover, the docs were quite empty at this time of year so we elected to tie up for the low rate of $2 a meter. Whether it's the time of year, or what else is going on in the world but the park is completely empty. Very quiet, beautiful weather to walk through the trees and trails

We had a great time kayaking at Jeff's on Newcastle Island. Very relaxed and welcoming. Jeff is a legend, and will take care of you if you're looking for something fun to do for the day. Do not go anywhere else for kayaking or biking outings!

Very good secluded little island for parking great if you just want to camp besides the beach and water. Just wish their grass was green! Was not able to walk and explore the whole island but did find an area with less rocks to Wade in the water, they have a restaurant for food and great ice cream! It truly was a unique experience to camp on the island after hopping off the ferry to get here!

A lovely place, so tranquile (at least once you get around to the seaward side of the island). Nice views from the coastal trails, we also saw a deer and a racoon (unfortunately not the white one).

Amazing trip to this hidden gem! Our kids rode bikes and adults on foot. Stunning ocean and forest views. Easily toured in 1.5 hours with lots of stops for kids aged 6 to 11.
