Pho 99 SFU is a really great little gem for Vietnamese food in Burnaby. One of my favourite dishes is the Smokey Rib Pho. It is a real showstopper when it comes to the table. It features these massive fall-off the bone tender ribs, Canadian AAA eye of round, rice noodles, and “Smokey” house beef broth. The beef broth is made with 24-hour simmered bone marrow broth. You can really taste the difference. The soup is clearer with a really deep umami flavour. The Original “Hue” Spicy Lemongrass is another favourite and it features a 20-hour simmered spicy lemongrass broth with brisket, sliced pork roll, pork balls and thick vermicelli. Because Pho 99 doesn’t use any artificial or jar pastes the flavour isn’t nearly as punchy as other spots, but you can really taste the depth of flavour from the long simmer time and the fragrance of the lemongrass. The thick vermicelli was nice and slippery! Overall you can really taste the love and care that goes into the dishes. The service is always friendly and teas/waters are frequently refilled.

Update: The AC has been fixed and the beef ribs were soft and tender. Soup was fragrant and flavourful. Service was quick and efficient. Come on the weekend as it is less busy. One of my new favorite pho place in Burnaby ****** Based on recent social media hype, I decided to try the $20.99 beef rib pho. Temperature inside the restaurant was hot and the AC was not very noticeable. I recommend the owner put in more fans or turn AC up. Now on to the food, the price is reasonable, given that it is quite the drive up to SFU. If priced any higher, I would not recommend the drive up, unless you go to school there or live close by.The beef ribs were tender, and the soup was hot and flavourful. Not too much msg. I would prefer if the restaurant provided more bean sprouts and basil. Overall the beef ribs Pho filled me up and I had a pleasant experience.

No one came over to check our table. They cut all the noodles, so I couldn't grab them with chopsticks. Also, they missed cilantro without asking. The taste was average. However, the two waiters never gave a care to the customers. The worst Pho house around this area.

Some of the best Vietnamese food I’ve had in Vancouver - and I’ve had a lot of Vietnamese food 👍 And recently went to Vietnam. Their grilled pork and chicken banh mis are stellar, the Smokey rib pho (only 10 orders available per day) is CRAZY good value and you get a LOT of meat 🍖. The Bun Bo Hue broth is super flavourful and full of amazing spicy lemongrass flavour. They have a whole page of vegetarian options for veggie lovers and their vegetarian broth is amazing as well. HIGHLY recommend 👍👍 Love that they serve complimentary Pandan Green Tea and vanilla ice cream for all customers! Lastly, you can tell everything is made with love and passion, and honestly you can taste it too.

We decided to take a stroll on the SFU campus and came across Pho 99. The patio was dog friendly. The trees provided enough shade for an enjoyable lunch. I originally ordered Bun Bo Hue but they did not have the noodles so it became a pho bo hue. We ordered a small and large and the portions were good. The spiciness was good and the amount of meats to noodles was good. The residents and students on the mountain really don’t have to leave for decent pho.

I came here because I found out the pho beef broth is MSG free. I was very happy with the flavour and portion size of the large rare beef #1. My partner ordered #70 but the kitchen made an error and instead of pork served chicken. When we told the server they made it right and brought out a plate with the grilled pork which should have been in the meal. The salad rolls I wasn't a fan of because of the pork cold cuts and the peanut sauce didn't have enough peanut flavour in my opinion. They served a scoop of vanilla ice cream to each guest at the end of the meal. Overall I really enjoyed dining here and I will come back again. I'm not sure if their AC was broken while we dined in but it was uncomfortably hot eating in there. Hopefully the next time is better.

Love this place, our casual place to hang before and after school. The staff is always very nice and welcoming. Being an international student, it is always homecoming when you enter the restaurant. And the food, goes without saying is the best food in the entire campus. You can ask anyone, they will tell you exactly what I am telling you if not more.

Staff members were very kind. One thing that I minded was the uncooked noodles. I was happy the waitress offered us a scoop of ice cream. That was sweet!
