Thanks God,I stayed here for 8 nights. I had a very wonderful experience here.Luckily,I didn’t affected by the bad comments . Firstly, the price is very nice in Vancouver. I had my own kitchen ,so I could buy local food to cook to save money. Secondly,we didn’t need air conditioner here ,even in the most hot July . The fan was cool enough . Because the environment is naturally ,it made us feel comfortable. Third, the breakfast is worth for the price. The restaurant staff is busy to serve many people , at the same time ,She also needs to prepare many stuff in the kitchen. So I can understand why she sometimes speak too quick to be understood. What’s more ,the room was clean ,everything made like home. Finally, the bus loop is near here ,so it’s very convenient to take bus to travel around the downtown. If I come back Vancouver again, I would choose here .

Would only recommend booking here if you are looking only for a place to sleep. Don’t even shower, the shower wasn’t cleaned properly and had an awful smell. Bedsheets were uncomfortable, other guests were incredibly loud in the halls in the morning while trying to sleep. The entire building also has very strong Christian theming throughout the entire building and this is not advertised well. Be aware of that if this makes you uncomfortable.

I will skip my personal feeling, just tell some facts. 1. When we arrived, my husband noticed there were something written in the elevator like "absolutely no grapes, or you will be prosecuted. " If you don't understand it, just check the Bible. 2. The Wifi password was from part of Bible too, which means you should do what he says. 3. Then my husband hadn't felt good, so he skipped the breakfast. I took my breakfast and it turned out to be a disaster. A Hispanic server literally chose what I could eat. When he put two small pieces of bacon into my plate, I asked him to add more since I didn't want sausage. He showed a very disgusting expression and told me in a cold voice that I could only take two pieces, but I could choose sausage instead since I didn't take one. 4. I wanted to bring my food to my room, and to come back with my husband's breakfast ticket. The server refused my request in a very cold voice: "You are not allowed to do that." I asked why since we used breakfast ticket which belonged to my husband. He kept on saying :"It will make your room in a mess!!!" I said that our room is an apartment with kitchen anyway. He then replied impolitely :"It is our rule!!!" 5. Before we left, I noticed something on the wall. It said that if we left anything in the room (by accident or on purpose) after check-out time, we would need to pay fines. 6. Are you kidding me? We are customers, not prisoners. We turned out to had our delicious breakfast at Tim Hortons, which cost us less than $8. The cashier of Tim Hortons treated us nicely with a smile on his face. The hotel room including parking fee costed us more than $250 for a night and it left us nightmare of hotel experience. 7. I am a traveler, from the North like Alaska to the South like Big Island or Florida. This by far was my worst hotel experience in North America.

Currently staying here, and feeling pretty unimpressed. On the positive side, the lady who helped me check in over the phone was very sweet and helpful, and the room was as expected and clean. There is no air conditioning and it is a heat wave. Had I known this I'd have booked somewhere else. When we went down for breakfast, the man serving was so rude. To everyone. He was even rude and nasty to another staff and my son was furious that he would talk to a woman that way. My son asked him where we could PAY for another helping as he was hungry still and the man yelled "one per person!" and literally waved him away. Definitely won't be eating the breakfast again and this man shouldn't have a job that involves customer service.

This is the worse Hotel I'd ever been. I was provided a wrong information regarding the room. No air-conditioning , very poor small fans and the sofa bed was disgusting. ... lots of hair on the pillow so with the sheets. The worse thing is that they asked for parking payment and was told it $20 per night x2 should be 40 X 13percent tax = 45.20 total but I got charged for 52.08. I don't know how did they get that number. Worse hotel id ever been... even a 2 star hotel in Europe provide free parking. Theresa

The rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. Unfortunately there is no air-conditioning, only a desk fan. In summer it is really hot. The building and location is quiet and peaceful. Great walking trails to explore the nearby beaches.

Clean and quiet place , very basic , not for a long stay, missing certain important furniture pieces that any room should have such as night tables/stands and no enough lighting (actually only one floor light was not working) and also need some other things like a microwave. .Also I think it's a little pricey. . overall not bad for one person and one night and for an event inside the campus.

Personally, I thought the centre was one of the more better accommodations I've had in my life. Had all the perks of an overnight stay in one. Clean room, private and quiet, food and meals, outside vibe and a blissful zen. Close enough to campus and not a hassle to move in and out of the spot. Thank you Carey Centre for hosting me. Had a great time at UBC.

Great place to stay! Rooms were neat and clean. The staff were friendly and it was only a 4 minute walk to transit. The buses come very frequently. It takes about an hour to bus into Vancouver. The campus is very scenic!

The rooms were very clean and spacious. Location is good and the UBC environment is really nice. The only downside is their very strict check in and check out time. Please let people enter their rooms before 4 pm. They are paying you enough to be flexible with them and hire extra workers. Invest in making sure the rooms are ready by 2 pm so that if people come, tired from a long travel, you don't have to make them wait for another hour or two which can be interpreted as off putting or poor customer service (not being flexible and accommodating to customers). This was a constructive feedback. Otherwise, It is a great place to stay..

Very good hotel with nice service and really good breakfast while being cheap. The only bad thing is the location quite far from the centre.

I stayed at Carey during the summer second time. Like graduate student dorm rooms but modern, clean and comfortable. During Covid, maids can only do so much. Carey is firstly a Christian college, not the Hilton. Be respectful of purpose. Best location in Vancouver to stay because of beautiful UBC campus (museum, gardens, beaches, Pacific Spirit park) and can do lots of day trips (including to the hospital - take Broadway bus or 86). Pleasant stay again, blessings.

Clean and spacious room, only the air conditioning was missing, but a fresh breeze from the nearby Pacific blew through the open windows. We did not have breakfast there, so I can not assess it. Reception is staffed only until 7:00 pm. The daytime connection to Vancouver downtown by bus is fast and excellent, but later in the evening you have to use Uber or cab to get back to the hotel.

Was perfect for what we needed it for- a 1 night stay. Clean, quiet facilities. Easy self check-in. Wonderful quiet area in the middle of UBC Campus with cafes and restaurants nearby. No A/C, but the last week of May with the window open and the room’s fan, we slept cooly.

I stayed here with my daughter who had a swim meet at UBC. This location is perfect, can walk everywhere. We never felt unsafe. Had to Uber for groceries because just a lot of corner stores around. Carey centre itself is clean and quiet. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because every morning and any time we spent in our room we where very congested. Had to go to drug store for congestion meds. Not sure what caused it. On the whole it was a pretty good stay.

I would recommend Carey Center to everyone. It has that nice University feel, when you go outside its all trees, and it feel studious. As Vancouver is so pricey everywhere, you really get a good deal in Carey Center. only thing, is that there was no air con. But the rooms were clean, but had to pay a bit for parking. Great lil find Thank you for your hospitality.

Good location for UBC campus as its close to all student residents , very basic rooms No Air-condition , vending Machine on 3rd floor is out of order, overall just ok The ( Chinese) lady at breakfast ( 29th June) was very rude. We just asked for 2 sausage and she replied to take 1 or leave I said that's rude she replied you can go and complain anywhere. I asked for her name she replied No Name. I have never meet any one rudely then her. Many other guests were also very angry and I am sure will mention this in there reviews. We are paying for breakfast she is not giving us anything for free. I stayed for 3 nights but didn't had breakfast again though it was pre paid.

Very basic hotel, No Air-condition so slightlywarm rooms during summer. A Hispanic ( Chinese lady )server literally chose what I could eat. When she put one small pieces of sausage into my plate, I asked her to add more she showed a very disgusting expression and told me in a loud voice that I could only take one pieces, I requested her to be little polite and asked for her name, she started shouting and said No Name, then she asked us to leave the breakfast room and go to reception and complain. I have traveled the world but never had such experience ever before the hotel must take some action as I have seen smilar reviews in Google and booking.com , people have been complaining about her but to my surprise she is still serving here. We stayed there for 3 days but never went for breakfast again . She must understand that she is into hospitality business and even if she wants to say no there is a polite way of saying. Anyway I will not recommend this property to anyone, as the hotel has never replied to any of the reviews on Google so I am assuming they are not reading the same.

I was booked at these accommodations for work. During a bit of a heatwave, the upper floors on northwest side of the building get up to approximately 30°C inside the room with very poor air circulation and no air conditioning. Rooms were 'ok'. Blankets and sheets were very poor quality and made sleeps pretty uncomfortable during the heatwave, especially. The location was optimal for where I was working during my 1 week stay.

" Deluxe " room not really , barely could take a shower , shower head broken Ventilation in the bathroom didn't work.. no towels ( got some myself from the reception)..I have found in this tiny fridge some old food from the previous folks .. the location is great .. The breakfast it's just ok.. I've been to this place before ( this is my 3rd stay at this location ).. but I have the feeling u start to pay more premium for less service . I'm not sure if I will ever come back to this location .

The key card here is not usable now and I am calling the number here now. Nobody answers me or gives help. Will never live here again.

Have stayed here before. Very basic accommodation. Booked 2 weeks for my daughter to quarantine during Covid. But then we found an airbnb with a kitchen and we tried calling them to cancel but they never answer the phone! We left a message so we assumed they cancelled it until we noticed that they charged our credit card. They said they never got the message. Only refunded half the money. It's not ok to treat people like this during a pandemic. Very disappointed. Will never book here again.

A basic clean, friendly well-located residence at the University of British Columbia. Excellent staff. A word of caution for seniors or anyone else needing that sort of safety assurance. There was no grab bar in the bathtub/shower.

I spent August 14-15, 2021 in Carey Center. The room was OK, and I am satisfied with the services including the restaurant in this facility. The food was good and the staff were courteous.

First night we couldn’t stay because the room hadn’t even been cleaned. The next night we arrived and the room had barely been cleaned - urine was stained on the toilet and floor, and an old towel was still hanging on the back of the door. The room smells musty and the carpet is stained. I’ve stayed in old motels that made me feel less gross than this. Overall very disappointed and would 10/10 NOT recommend.
