Had the opportunity to meet the owners, Darren and Sunny, during Port Moody Car-Free day in 2019. They had some of their equipment out and were very encouraging to everyone to 'give it a try'. I was hooked and have been an active member since last fall. Really appreciate the calisthenics and stretching classes. The rowing is another way to get a great cardiac workout that saves your knees. If you are feeling intimidated to try any of their offerings - don't be. Darren and the rest of the training staff are knowledgeable and take you through the various progressions at your own pace to make you feel safe and successful. The small class sizes are great to get that extra bit of instruction to improve whatever skill you are working on. Darren also keeps the members up to date on a regular basis on what is going on so another focused customer service offering.

I just wanted to share my incredible experience that I have had at Gravity laboratory. This is my second year as a member and I would highly recommend this gym to anyone at any fitness level. As someone who enjoys diversity in my fitness routine, gravity offered that much and more. The level of experience, knowledge and professionalism the trainers offer is bar none. Having access to the gym at anytime also helped with my chaotic schedule. Darren and his wife are so welcoming, encouraging and accommodating. Definitely offers a gym with a community feeling that pushes you to do your best everyday.

If you want an effective workout under an hour, this is the place for you. Tried the Calisthenics/HIIT and the Strength and Conditioning class with Tom Mezey and was thoroughly challenged. The gym set up is amazing! Lots of weights, apparatuses and room for everyone to have a safe workout in. Even though I was in a group class setting, the service received was personalized for my level and extremely friendly. Keep up the good work! I highly recommend this gym to all!!!

I'd never really enjoyed going to the gym, and hardly ever went as a result. I popped into Gravity hoping to pay a drop in fee and use some of the rowing and calisthenics equipment. Darren, the owner, told me they didn't offer drop in, but I stead offered classes - and a calisthenics class was just starting. That class changed my opinion on going to the gym. I feel stronger, I feel more flexible, and feel healthier. The exercises work your core, and also improve your range of motion, which has be key for my tennis shoulder! Going to keep going now!

To be honest I am not a big fan of going to gyms, but after coming to Gravity for about 6 months, I can honesty say that Gravity is unlike any fitness centre out there. This place has excellent coach led sessions. The training crew is empathetic and knowledgeable taking you through the various progressions at a comfortable pace making you feel safe and motivated. The small class sizes are also a benefit, helping to get that extra bit of attention from the coach to improve your skills. To sum it up, If you have the time, discipline and will power to stay fit, look no further, Gravity is the place to go.

An amazing space - as an active person I love that I have an indoor facility that has hands on instruction and classes so that you can learn how to exercise properly with all the equipment. Classes are challenging but always getting a sufficient and rewarding sweat on. Most of all the community built around the classes is something that helps with encouragement, support, and positive energy. Getting to know others and motivating and being motivated is usually the toughest part, and this place is so welcoming to everyone!!

The staff have the amazing ability to deconstruct what might have seemed impossible, into palatable chunks so that you always exercise to maximize your abilities, whatever level you're at. The first time I showed up, I was able to loosen up an old injury with my ankle, and I have not looked back since. Even my sleep apnea is lessening, as my cardiorespiratory capacity improves. There is authenticity and passion here. This gym delivers on its promise to help you believe that only Your best is good enough for You!

Love Gravity!! Coaches care about you and want you to succeed. Also a great place for beginners. The gym has a welcoming environment, is aesthetically pleasing and has wonderful members! I’ve been a member for the last year and it’s been a great experience. Would recommend to try this place out if you’re new to weight lifting or interested in learning something new - such as powerlifting or rowing. Darren and the other instructors help you reach your goals without feeling like you’re going to a typical big box gym.

I joined Gravity because I was interested in learning a new modality (calisthenics), but the real strength of this gym is the sense of community. Not only can you expect quality instruction from expert (and inspiring) trainers, but you get the benefit of something severely lacking in many gyms: community. At Gravity people welcome you. They know your name and clap when you make progress and you cheer on others too. There is banter and sweat and struggle and enthusiastic spotting, whether you are learning handstands or lifting or practicing stick mobility. I have never attended a gym that has such a strong sense of support and joy in movement/self improvement with an app to facilitate sharing and community building and self growth as well. There is also in house Physio, which seems like a no-brainer for athletes. Well worth the membership and the commute (I travel 35-55 mins depending on traffic).

Joining Gravity is by far the best fitness-related decision I have ever made. The coaches are all brilliant and incredibly skilled at what they do. The community is filled with members of every level and we keep one another accountable and motivated. Pretty much can't get enough of it, it's become a second home!

I was introduced a few months back to Gravity and WOW is amazing! Excellent classes, highly trained knowledgeable friendly staff and members welcoming! I have wholly welcomed the lifestyle training Gravity offers, with various disciplines to adapt which I never knew about or had been introduced to, such as Strength/Conditioning/Mobility and Flexibility. You can keep challenging yourself, I have tried many of the classes and feel the challenge and am hooked! I highly recommend Gravity:)

I have been lifting at Gravity for a short time now but can easily say that this is the best gym I've been a part of. The staff are very knowledgeable and motivated to help their clients. Highly recommend!

So impressed with my first class at Gravity Laboratory - not intimidating and great coaching and approach. Can't wait to go back.

I tried my first class (ring fundamentals) at Gravity today and it was fantastic. The coach was great, the humans were social, friendly and funny, and the workout was challenging but manageable. The bonus of the day was that from where my rings were located, I had a direct line of sight to Storm the Husky who wagged his tail at me before every set. 10/10 will be back tomorrow.

This is a superb gym with a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. The staff is fantastic and the workouts are efficient and effective and deliver great results. I've made way more progress than with previous calisthenics programs!

Gravity is phenomenal. The facility is top notch, but what stands out the most are the staff, coaches and fellow members. Extremely supportive environment and a fun place to be. I usually find gyms/fitness centres to be intimidating but I have never felt anything other than welcome at Gravity. Coaches are extremely knowledgable, high performance athletes; makes a HUGE difference!

After researching, contacting, and visiting various gyms and fitness facilities in Port Moody I decided upon Gravity. They are set apart fm the others for many reasons: sense of community (people are great and friendly), parking, location, flexibility, various classes, facility is clean, transparent, and very knowledgeable staff. I also like how they are constantly evolving classes and will hold special workshops.

i never had any interest in exercise, but decided to try the powerlifting/strength program at gravity more than a year ago and it was one of the best decisions i've ever made. the coaches are kind, knowledgeable, and patient, which was really important when i was new and easily intimidated by anything in the gym. i'm in the best shape of my life and have made new friends, and i look forward to every class!

Gravity is truly a gym like no other! The classes introduce you to training styles that not only strengthen your body but are also so much fun! The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and supportive, not to mention the incredible Gravity members that help lift each other up (sometimes literally). Coming to Gravity isn't just joining a gym; it is joining the most amazing community.

I live in the area so I was looking for a gym to train at and I’m so glad I found Gravity lab! I Went for a free class and everyone is so encouraging and friendly. :) they seem to offer a variety of classes from gymnastics to powerlifting. If you sign up, there’s also a really cool app where you can book your classes, chat in the community tab, and track your progress. I would highly recommend Gravity Lab to everyone!

I have been working with Josh from Gravity Laboratory for the last few months. When I started with him, I was suffering from a few back problems (including a herniated disc). I was also having trouble with my shoulder. Josh approaches physio from a different perspective. In most cases the physiotherapists I have seen have worked on my symptoms. They would work on relieving me of the pain I was experiencing. Typically, it only gave me short term relief. Josh approached my issues from the perspective to treat what is causing the pain. He has worked with me in the gym developing stretches and exercises that have given me a great amount of relief from my pain. I can now say I am living more days without pain, and I continue seeing more positive results as time passes. I am a big believer in Josh’s methods.

With Gravity I have found the perfect alternative to the standard weights/cardio machine gyms that I have been looking for for some time. I was looking for a variety of different training and classes and that is what Gravity provides. I have been going to Gravity now for over a month and I've had a hugely positive experience. Darren, the owner, is extremely passionate about fitness and the education/mechanics around fitness. I signed up to two four week introduction programs, Rowing and Kettlebells and have thoroughly enjoyed both. Darren, Nicole and Mark have been really helpful/knowledgeable instructors having the patience to answer my questions, give me really helpful advice and it is clear they are all passionate about what they do. They have showed me the proper form in using kettle bells and the correct rowing technique all to avoid injuries and maximize your workout. The classes consist of people from all walks of life, age groups and fitness levels and are fun and not intimidating whatsoever. I have learned a lot in the past month be it technique/form or the importance of stretching and look forward to trying the other classes available like the 4 weeks Weight Lifts Program and Stick Mobility. I have also lost a few pounds and am building strength and improving mobility. I find the monthly membership is good value when you break it down to price per class and the ability to use the gym independently. I would highly recommend Gravity for anyone looking for a clean non standard gym, with great trainers and a fun (but hard working) atmosphere!

Well trained staff, very dedicated to a good and correct work out. Covid safety good. I'm taking rowing and the calisthenics classes. Rowing instruction is great, highly recommend if you want a good cardio / endurance work out. the calisthenics is a fun way to build up strength. Exercises are tailored to your skill and strength level. Lots of classes offered, and you can use the equipment on your own time with a membership.

I recommend that anyone who is struggling to improve their physical fitness look into this gym. I've never seen real change and improvement like I have here, at any other strength training facility I've been at. Everyone is knowledgeable, accommodating, friendly and very athletic.

Gravity is so much better than the typical gym. Excellent classes, evidence based training. I've been hooked on the rowing class for over a year - you can keep challenging yourself and see the results in your numbers. Youth class has been fantastic for building strength/agility in a safe and effective manner. Great staff, clean safe environment - highly recommend this gym.

I've been doing the morning calisthenics classes, and they are so good. There are progressions for all levels, building strength, coordination and overall functional fitness. I feel safe there, the instructors are great, the facility is spacious and well equipped, and most of all, the training is fun!

Definitely a gym for you if you want to get out of the mundane typical ‘gym’. Great group classes and motivating personal training philosophies. They’ve been great to be connected with their members during isolation but can’t wait to get back in there!

There are so many wonderful things happening at this new gym! It's clean and spacious to start, however, most importantly this is a gym that caters to personal needs more than any other gym I have been in. My son has been looking to build some muscle and gain some strength for hockey. We finally found a business that carefully and precisely has assessed him and found a program that is safe for him to do with results. I love that this gym is for the whole family. There are classes for kids, teens, adults, (even at the same time which is a bonus for busy families). All ages, unlike other gyms, receive the same personal training and attention with family discounts too! Great coaching for all fitness levels as well. Coaches are encouraging and motivating.

Gravity is a welcome new addition to Port Moody’s fitness landscape. After spending almost a year in physiotherapy due to an injury and no longer able to do high-impact activities, I tried out an indoor rowing class because it was zero impact. I liked the class, and liked the general philosophy - everything is evidence-based, progressions are tailor-fit to the individual, and always with safety in mind. The owners are hands on, accessible, and looking after your individual goals. Membership fees are very reasonable considering this is not a cookie-cutter place. No two classes are the same, and programs are always evolving based on member feedback and needs. I am getting fitter, stronger, and it feels great to be active again. Highly recommended.

  • 5/5 Nicholas C. 5 years ago on Google
Great new facility, multipurpose gym with everything from rowing, calisthenics, kickboxing, group fitness, boxing, kids classes and a bunch more. I've been going for about 2 weeks and can't recommend it highly enough, Darren the owner has some great specials for people who join now as they are newly opened... Genuinely one of the best experiences in terms of quality and service i have come across when joining a fitness facility... Get into it! Nick
