It's rare to find a gem in the wall, especially for comics and board games. Hourglass is just that. Simon, the owner, goes out of his way to make his customers feel welcomed and taken care of. The shop has been here for over 10 years and he has really poured his heart and soul into this shop. It shows with the amount of professionalism, expertise and knowledge Simon has. If you're in Port moody and you have a craving for board games or comic books at a good price. Look no further - hourglass can satisfy that itch!! If your looking for magic product, Sean is very knowledgeable and pleasant! Although the amount of product for magic has gone down, it hasn't stopped me from coming here. Thanks Simon and Sean, for being a pillar of the nerd community in Port moody!!

My go-to comic shop. Simon and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Great selection of back issues and new releases. Also has a large area for table top games and miniatures.

Lots of selection for comics and D&D stuff with a decent selection of board and card games, nice staff helped identify different games and their sequels. Be kind to the comics while browsing 👌

I purchased 2 board games from hourglass games and comics. One of them came with a whole bunch of pieces missing. I called to see if they could help and they said that I need to contact the manufacturer of the game in order to obtain the missing pieces. Fair enough. I also asked them if I would be able to return the game to them. The gentleman responded by saying “well what am I supposed to do with it then? Lose out on the revenue?” As somebody who is a parts and sales manager, I found that to be extremely unprofessional. I have since passed along my experience with Hourglass games to the Canadian distributor for the board game I purchased, as they’re the ones I got re directed to from the manufacturer. It was the manufacturer who recommended passing along my experience too. I am giving them a 2 star rating instead of a 1 as the store itself is great, and the person who was working there the day I purchased the board games was extremely helpful.

This is a great place with an amazing staff that makes you feel very welcomed. I try to visit as often as possible. Recently, while visiting with my kids, both of them walked out with items that they were looking for. Solid selection of back issues as well as current. Tons of figures, cards, merchandise, etc to choose from for all the collectors out there. Check this place out for yourself and you will not be disappointed.

Seems like a great comic book store but the staff might be a bit too chill or laid back. I brought my kids here to check out the place and they loved every section of it. They wanted to buy everything. While browsing I dont think that anyone even acknowledged that we were there. It felt as if maybe we weren't welcome or maybe they dont like kids. There was no hello when we walked in and no thank you after our purchase. I read a reply of another review saying that most of their customers like to be left alone but then I see a bunch of reviews stating exactly how my visit went so I would argue that most customers like being acknowledged and that asking if someone needs help in a store is pretty customary. I will still probably be back since I am in the area pretty often and my kids like comics so ill update my review if the hospitality changes at all. People that own or work in comic book stores generally like to express their love for the craft. It felt like I was walking into a big box store where no one liked their job. I hope I dont have that same feeling next time.

Helpful staff and a large selection of TTRPG books, miniatures, and accessories make this a recommended stop for D&D players. Prices are reasonable, if a bit higher than my local FLGS in Brentwood Mall.

These guys always welcome me with a friendly greeting. They will help me find anything I ask for. Their sock inventory is vast and well organized. The store is spacious and open. I am very happy getting my comics and games from them.

If you're thinking about stopping in here to buy something, don't bother. Yes, it is a cool little hobby shop and the staff is very welcoming. However, that is all completely overshadowed by the ridiculous prices. Everything in this store is 50%+ more expensive than prices for the same exact product in most other stores, retail or online. Some products are even double the price. There's a fine line between trying to keep the business afloat and ripping people off. Unfortunately, these guys are doing the latter. This store's prices are so high they are doing more harm than good. Maybe they would have a larger and more frequent clientele if their prices were more reasonable. They need to learn that higher margins don't necessarily result in higher revenue. It's a shame because I like supporting the local comic shop, but I won't be back here.

One of the best organization comic book back issues section. This is my second favorite store in all of BC.

I've been meaning to visit this shop for years & finally had a chance. Probably the best stocked comic shop in British Cumbia & well worth the visit.

Went in for free comic book day and was not disappointed. Huge selection of comics and very organized. Nice collection of board and card games, too. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning!!

I haven't been into comics since I was a lad spending my allowance at Hourglass, but I'm happy this local gem is still around so my kids can enjoy them. Pleasant staff who are happy to answer any questions, or place an order for you, great for a browse if you're in the area.

Friendly staff. They carry a limited amount of games and such but they're a great place to get your comic fix.
